Descending in the Hill Country - Leakey, TX.
Went camping at Garner State Park and took my road bike to ride some of the best roads in Texas. This covers 337 W to Camp Wood, RR 337 E into Leakey, RR 336 N, and RR 337 E west of Vanderpool.
The roads are incredible, albeit chip seal. They're popular for motorcycles as well as cars as they're unique for Texas. The wind gusts were 40mph and worse in the canyon, with lots of debris blown into the road; Can't wait to go back during a non-windy day. There's a 65-70mph section east of Vanderpool that is calling my name.

Autumn in Leakey Texas 2011
Leakey is a very popular vacation spot for many in Texas located on the very western edge of the beloved Texas Hill Country. The majority of the vacationers come to Tube the beautiful Rio Frio River, but most have never seen the beauty of Leakey in the fall. Take a look and see for yourself.
Shawn Shoemaker and myself got up early that morning to beat the sun rise at Garner State Park. It was cold and crisp, no wind, and thought the conditions were going to be perfect, and we were not disappointed. As you watch the beginning you'll see the luminosity increase as the video progresses.
The Dancing Vapor Funnels, I call them were fascinating. This video was shot right at day break. The temperature was 27 degrees, however the day before it was 70. So the water was still warm in relation to the air, which created the fog. The rising heat from the sun impinging on the water created the columns of swirling Dancing Vapor Funnels. Pay close attention to the beginning of this segment and you will see two funnels dancing. As the funnel on the right crosses the path of the other, it dissipates. It looks as if it tripped over the funnel moving left to right. Very curious! This portion of the video was taken at the damn in Garner State Park.
The video taken at Frio River Cabins. There are many beautiful spots on this river and this one tops my list. We have rented cabins there for years and the owners have become dear friends of ours.
The segment titled Fall, just caught my eye for some reason. I wanted to capture Fall, and I noticed that the leaves were almost literally raining from the trees above.
To this day, I haven't been able to time the peak of the color at Lost Maples State Park. We were at least two weeks too early. Even still we got some pretty shots. One day though. One Day.

13 Killed In Texas Bus Crash
At least 13 people were killed and two others were injured when a bus carrying senior citizens had a head-on collision with another vehicle on Wednesday.
The bus, which was carrying 14 people, was returning to New Braunfels from a Baptist encampment near Leakey, Texas, where members were attending a church event.
Officials said the bus was traveling south on a two-way lane when a north-bound pickup truck veered into its lane and hit the bus.
The accident occurred on a curve where the speed limit is 65, but the cause of the accident is still under investigation, including whether the two drivers surpassed the limit.
According to police officials the driver, who survived, was the sole occupant of the truck.
12 of the deceased were pronounced dead at the scene, while one person died in the hospital.
