Friouato est une grotte naturelle unique, une particularité du parc national du Tazekka, à Taza au Maroc. Elle semble recevoir un nombre important de visiteurs se qui, sans un processus de suivi et de gestion, pourrait générale de la nature géologique des grottes des zones calcaires et dolomitiques, et de commencer un processus de documentation du Gouffre de Friouato, ce qui conduira à une meilleure utilisation et protection de cette ressource naturelle.

The Friouato caves are located about 30 km south of the city of Taza, Morocco. The farthest explored known point is about 272 meters, but its real limits are still mysterious. However, experts[who?] believe that its ends stretch to about six kilometers. There are also signs of an underground river that is believed to flow near the Grottes of Chiker. People of the nearby village say that there have been many explorers visiting the cave, some of whom never came back. A cave diving expedition by Exeter University Speleological Society passed two static sumps in 1969 to discover more large chambers and shafts. The system ends in a massive choke of boulders.

This may well be the same massive choke of boulders that can be seen at the end of the upststream passages of the nearby Grotte du Chiker; this choke was also discovered in 1969 by the same group of cavers. Aspects caractérisés de la ville de Taza à la disponibilité sur un grand nombre de grottes et des sources d'eau naturelles qui leur donnent le droit au développement du tourisme centrale.
Ne font que confirmer les chercheurs qui se spécialisent dans ce domaine, les aspects de Taza est la seule région de l'Afrique et le monde entier la disposition d'un grand nombre de grottes qui sont presque au nombre de 350 est le plus important:
- Cave Chiker jusqu'à 146 mètres de profondeur et couvre une superficie de 3765 mètres.
- Cave Frioato est le plus célèbre, jusqu'à 271 mètres de profondeur et couvre une superficie de 2178 mètres.
Les chercheurs soulignent que lors de chaque visite leur cavernes sont détectés, nouveau et différent
Il est à noter que plus Almtuadon touristes sur cette région sont fans européens et américains de l'alpinisme et de l'esprit aventureux.
Les responsables de la région à fournir une assistance et des moyens de sécurité, et il prépare les équipes de sauvetage en cas d'accident Hdot.

تتميز نواحي مدينة تازة بتوفرها على عدد هائل من المغارات ومصادر المياه الطبيعية التي تخولها الى تطوير السياحة المركزية.
فحسب تأكيد الباحثون المتخصصون في هذا المجال فإن نواحي تازة هي المنطقة الوحيدة في أفريقيا وكل العالم المتوفرة على عدد كبير من المغارات التي يصل تقريبا عددها الى 350ومن اهمها :
-مغارة شيكر التي يصل عمقها الى 146 متر وتمتد على مساحة 3765 متر.
-مغارة فريواطو وهي الأكثر شهرة، يصل عمقها الى 271 متر وتمتد على مساحة 2178 متر.
ويؤكد الباحثون أن في كل زيارة لهم يتم الكشف عن مغارات جديدة ومختلفة،،
والملاحظ ان اكثر السياح المتوافدون على هذه المنطقة هم أوروبيون وأمريكيون من محبي تسلق الجبال وروح المغامرة.
وقد قام المسؤولون بالمنطقة بتوفير المساعدة ووسائل الأمان، وذلك بتجهيز فرق للإنقاذ في حالة حدوت أي حادث.

Future of Moroccan tourism could be underground

The subterranean world could be the latest thing to attract visitors to Morocco.
Speleologists, as cave enthusiasts are known, are exploring the country's caves in greater numbers.
STORY-LINE:
With its plentiful outcrops of limestone formation, Morocco is a speliologist's dream.
There are hundreds of known caves and underground cavities in Morocco, and it is believed that many more lay undiscovered, making this an as yet untapped industry that could attract scientists, ecologists and tourists.
It has taken years of research and exploration of caving sites by Moroccans and foreign speleologists and amateurs to popularise this activity.
Taza is an area with high mountains, forests, caves and underground cavities that is likely to become a popular destination for speleology and nature tourism.
The vast southern zone of Taza city has more than 365 caves and underground cavities. They were discovered between 1932 and 1956 by members of the French Federation of Speleology.
The Moroccan and foreign speleologists describe the region of Taza as a unique place in Africa, or even in the world, as it contains such a large number of underground cavities.
But despite this, tourism rates are low. In Morocco there are only 14 associations that specialise in caves, and two of these are based in Taza.
Mohamed Kassimi has been president of the Friouato Association For Environmental Preservation and to Encourage Speleology and Mountain Tourism since 2008.
We wonder who should be responsible for the large number of caves in Taza, named the capital of caves and caverns. It should be the High Commission of Water and Forests or the Tourism Ministry or Culture Ministry, he says.
Friouato cave in the Massoud mountain, discovered in 1935 by French and Moroccans adventurers, remains the most famous cave internationally.
The depth of the cave remains unknown as speleologists have only managed to reach 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) into the interior. The cave is open to the public, something which has led to its degradation.
Recently the authorities closed Friouato because of an accident involving a group of students, when one died and six were injured.
Before this accident Mohamed Kassimi the President of Friouato Association For Environmental Preservation and to Encourage Speleology and Mountain Tourism had sent several letters to different ministries, authorities and others to alert them about the situation of the cave, but in vain.
We are sorry about this incident that took place in the Friouato cavity but that does not mean we will close it once and for all, so we ask the concerned authorities to reopen it because it is considered to be a very important tourist destination that receives many visitors each day, he says.
Since 2002, the French and Moroccan Federations of Speleology and the Moroccan Association of Speleology have been organising events to promote mountain tourism.
Seven speleologists from the French Federation of Speleology and the French School of Speleology visited the Taza caves and underground cavities in October alongside 30 Moroccan participants.
They visited a dozen prominent caves, beginning with Bab Mafraj.
The purpose of this visit was to exchange technology advice and experiment with high-tech equipment.
The caves are there, the enthusiasm is certainly in place - now these underground warriors just need the authorities to back them.

The Tazekka National Park of Morocco was created in 1950 with an initial area of 6.8 km². It was to created to protect the natural resources at the top from Jbel Tazekka, particularly the grove of cedars (Cedrus atlantica), which are isolated on this peak in the Middle Atlas range. The park includes the mountain Jbel Tazekka (elev. 1,980 m) which dominates the surrounding area.
