The Mayor of Frisco and the Frisco Discovery Center organized today an event in the wake of the Super Bowl.
According to the Attorney General of the State of Texas, the Super Bowl creates great demand for prostitutes increasing the risk of sexual slavery and the exploitation of minors.
[Chelo Alvarez-Stehle/Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker] When a male audience attends a large sports event en masse, they often end up celebrating the event in a highly exalted way. They spend money in alcohol, they spend money in a young girl, and that increases the demand for young girls. The demand is what is actually furthering sexual trafficking.
[Sold In America footage] You may not know this, but authorities estimate that a 25% of the victims of sexual exploitation coming into the U.S. do so through the State of Texas.

In our third episode of Trains Of Season 2 we visit “Traintopia” in Frisco, TX. After eating lunch at the famous Babes Chicken, we would take a tour of their layout (which is still in the process of expanding) and later look at their trains outside. Unfortunately due to the trains only being in temporary storage till they get the funds to build the actual museum part of the place, they were only giving 2 tours a day. And sadly we missed them both. But we could get a good view from outside! Enjoy the layout, and be sure to check it out sometime if you’re ever in the DFW area!!

Human Trafficking Proclamation by Frisco,TX Mayor at Global Slavery Remembrance Day Event
Responding to an invitation by Venita Benitez, founder of Global Remembrance Slavery Day, Frisco Mayor Maher Maso issues a proclamation recognizing January 11 as the National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Day. The Human Trafficking Awareness Event closed with a candlelight vigil in which a Proclamation by The Senate of the State of Texas, at the request of Senator Royce West, recognized January as the National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
The event took place at the Frisco Discovery Center on 01_25_11, and showcased the documentary work of Chelo Alvarez-Stehle: Sold In America short documentary and Sands of Silence work-in-progress, as well as her current new media project SOS_SLAVES: Changing the Trafficking Game, a social impact online game.
Singer-songwriter Angelia Robinson opened the event.
