Farm Trippin tours the Fruit and Spice Park (@fruitandspicepark) in Homestead, Florida. The 37 acre park has over 70 varieties of bananas, 180 different mangoes, 20 varieties of grapes, and much much more. You’re able to eat anything that has fallen on the ground, but not everything on the ground is edible- and some are actually poisonous. The July in-season fruit included jack fruit, mango, banana, and avocado. We left covered in mango juice, pulp, mosquito bites, and sweat but couldn’t be happier.

Homestead Vietnamese Fruit Farm | Travel Video

Going green beyond the gridiron.
Up To Speed, January 23
As Miami prepares to host football’s biggest event, the V Team partnered with the South Florida community for an amazing lineup of “green” events, all part of an initiative to reduce the environmental impact of the big game.
Super Kids, Super Sharing
Kids helping other kids: What could be better? That’s why the Green Team partnered with the NFL to bring this year’s Super Kids, Super Sharing event to Miami for Super Bowl LIV. Students from 100+ schools donated over 25,000 items, including books, school supplies and sports equipment. The kids who helped run the event got a prize of their own: A football field day with the Miami Dolphins. Fins’ players were on hand to help out and sign autographs.
In honor of Super Kids and the NFL’s 100th season, Verizon will plant 10,000 trees (100 trees for each of the NFL’s 100 years) in Florida’s Econfina River State Park. Verizon will also plant 100,000 trees in Madagascar to restore ecologically devastated mangrove estuaries and forests and revive natural habitat for endangered animal species.
We’re also providing a $100K grant to The Education Fund to support the students and teachers of Miami-Dade County.
Rallying around recycling
We’re also partnering with the NFL, Zoo Miami and Miami-Dade County to make this year’s Super Bowl Recycling Rally a success. More than 100 families stopped by the zoo to responsibly recycle electronic equipment and filled 20 pallets with desktop computers, tv monitors, stereo equipment and more.
Thanks to Verizon Sustainability, participants were given trees to plant in their own yards as part of the Million Trees Miami effort.
You might wonder, what’s the connection between e-waste and the zoo? Responsibly recycling cell phones and other electronics helps protect the natural environment of gorillas and other animals by reducing habitat destruction caused by mining for the minerals used in these items.
A very unique tree planting
Verizon volunteers, including Brian Gallo and Danny Ballou, participated in a renewal project at the Redland Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead, FL. V Teamers helped renew the citrus fruit collection by planting 20 new, curated specimens in raised planter boxes along a new beautiful pathway.
The Fruit & Spice Park is the only tropical botanical garden of its kind in the United States. It hosts more than 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, nuts and other commercially important plant specimens.
And much, much more…
In addition to the above events, Green Team volunteers helped out at several local events building a community garden, cleaning up public spaces, planting trees and more.
