We spent the night getting some shots around Shinjuku in Tokyo, Japan. I went for a really cinematic vibe with this vlog and I really hope you guys enjoy it!
Night photography is always incredibly difficult, but with practice and patience, I think we're slowly getting there!
Images were shot mostly on the Canon 7D mark II with Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 and Fujifilm X100F — around Shinjuku, Kabukichō, Omoide Yokochō and Golden Gai.

Tokyo Photo Locations - Moments In Time Ep 5
Join me in Tokyo for Episode 5 of Moments in Time where we fly from Kuala Lumpur to one of my favorite cities in the world, Tokyo, Japan. In transit, I share some of my techniques for getting all of my camera gear packed up and on the plane for international flights. I navigate and give tips for Tokyo’s sometimes confusing, but well connected, subway system as we visit my favorite of Tokyo’s many Japanese gardens, Kiyosumi. After some relaxing “nature bathing,” we’ll visit another one of Tokyo’s many attractions–Shibuya Crossing–where the crowd itself has become an attraction. It can be an overwhelming place so I share my favorite vantage point to capture all the action.
We pay a visit the Photo History Museum in Fujifilm’s Tokyo headquarters to speak with Sam Minami, the man responsible for bringing Fujifilm’s long legacy of color film into the new era as film simulations in their line of digital cameras. But no visit to Tokyo would be complete without some cityscape photography, so we head to Ginza for some architectural shots with my good friend, Kenji Yamamura, in the Tokyo International Forum Building. He gives us the local scoop on a unique reflection shot that’s somewhat obscure. We use some non-traditional tactics to capture the “Money Shot” (literally a tripod made of coins) before getting some sushi at one of my favorite restaurants in Ginza.
In this Moments in Time series, we take a journey around the world together, and share about photography, travel, people, food, experiences, and everything that happens between the frames I capture. Subscribe to this channel for new episodes each Tuesday.

Shinjuku
Shinjuku is known for its large shopping and business district, its busy metro hub and its infamous Kabukicho.
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building
If you want one of the best 360 views of Tokyo , the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building offers them for free.
Omoide yokocho
Omoide yokocho is a historical landmark whisking you back to prewar Tokyo.
Capsule Hotels
Capsule hotels were once historically for salarymen who worked late or missed the last train home. I’ve stayed at 5 different capsule hotels during my stay in Tokyo and each place was Insta-worthy.
Asakusa
Looking for a more historical Japan, Asakusa is one of the oldest parts of Tokyo.
Hie Shrine
One of best Instagrammable places in Tokyo where you can get a photo of red torii gates.
Harajuku
Harajuku is a playful neighborhood to explore with cafes, shopping, and food. kNown for its vibrant, colorful and avant garde Harajuku fashion, you’ll find Tokyo insta-worthy places, showcasing quirky and cool.
Harajuku Sweets & Snacks
Colorful creativity extends to Harajuku's sweet street snacks, where can enjoy snacks which are jaw-dropping, yummy, innovative. Definitely Insta-worthy.
TOKYU PLAZA OMOTESANDO HARAJUKU
Located on the corner of Omotesando Harajuku crossing is Tokyo PLaza. Designed by 1. Hiroshi Nakamura, the mall houses is a glass archway at tis entrance that has become a favorite Instagram spot.
OMOTESANDO HARAJUKU Crossing
On the 6th floor of Tokyo Plaza is you’ll find a patio view with a lovely view of Omoetaesando- Harajuku.
Thematic Cafes
Tokyo seems to have a thematic cafe for just about everything. From cute Cat and Hedgehog cafes, to wildly colored Kawaii Monster Cafes , if you can think of it or even if you can’t, Tokyo has a cafe for it.
Kawaii Monster Cafe
Yoyogi Park torii gate - Crossing Yoyogi park bridge you’ll find a giant tori gate welcoming you into the park. I
Sake Jars are an interesting backdrop for a shot as well.
Meiji Shrine- This historical shrine is dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and his empress wive. Exploring the grounds will yield you many iconic photographs of a traditional Shinto shrine and its rituals.
Gotokuji Temple
highlights are maneki neko, beckoning cats, figures that are believed to bring good luck .
Shibuya
Shibuya is best for its youth and shopping. It also has the biggest street crossing in the world- Shibuya Crossing.
Across the station, you can get another view of the crossing from the Starbucks in the Tsutaya building

One of the truly best Instagram spots of Tokyo is Mount Fuji. It is an iconic image of Japanese art.

This was a very relaxed, but highly enjoyable day out in Shimokitazawa and Shinjuku for some Tokyo photography, shooting with a different camera to usual!
I've had my Fujifilm Instax Wide 210 with me throughout the last few months, but due to all the filming, I've neglected to prioritise it in my camera bag and take it out with me to get shots with it. With only a few days left in Japan, I thought it best to make the most of it and have a fun day grabbing shots with this instant camera!
I always enjoy the aesthetic of Fuji Instax cameras and love taking things back to basics to get some candid and imperfect images. These are by no means portfolio worthy images, but who cares? I had a great time taking these shots and the day has become incredibly memorable because of it!

#EPISODE1 [JAPON] TOKYO (SHIBUYA, SHINJUKU, MONT FUJI)

Follow my journey to Shinjuku in Tokyo to buy the Fujifilm X100F at some of my favourite camera stores, ever! Unfortunately it was out of stock at Yodabashi, but I was able to pick one up at Bic Camera around the corner!
As a traveller in Japan, you can make the most of tax-free shopping alongside various discounts at stores when purchasing with specific cards (usually Visa or Mastercard). The process is super easy, just make sure you bring your passport and it can be instantly deducted instore!

1 Hour Evening Walk in Shinjuku, Tokyo - Fujifilm X-T3 - 4K 60 FPS
Another long walk through one of the most iconic areas of Tokyo. This time me and my camera are exploring the area around Shinjuku Station - The biggest train station in the entire world.
The walk starts near the east exit of Shinjuku station. From there I head north to Kabukicho, the infamous red light district of Tokyo, that is today more akin to your average tourist trap and best avoided. After Kabukicho I head south, passing through the newly developed (and oddly named) NeWoMan shopping mall. Apparently their christmas illuminations was installed this very day, so you'll get a view of those in this video too.
Next, I head to the western part of Shinjuku station, where many of the best camera shops in Tokyo are located. This night is also popular with the local salaryman crowd for evening dinner and drinks. I continue the walk past Omoide Yokocho (aka Piss Alley), the famous drinking alley next to Shinjuku Station. From there I pass under the train tracks and head back to the east side of the station, where this walk ends.
This was filmed with a Fujifilm X-T3 in 4K 60FPS. The lens used is a Samyang 12mm F2, and the camera was mounted on a Zhiyun Crane for stability.
Shot in F-Log and graded in Adobe Premiere CC.
I hope you like this travel video from Tokyo. Please let me know if there are any other places you would like to see me visit, or if you have any other opinions about my movies.
Thank you for watching, and please subscribe to my channel if you want to see more travel videos from Japan like this.
Please note that it takes several days from upload until YouTube has processed the 4K video stream and made it viewable. So if it's not available by the time you watch this, please check again later.

I WANT TO MOVE TO JAPAN (Fujifilm XT3 cinematic)
A love letter to Hayao Miyazaki films, 5 Centimeters Per Second, and all things Japan.
See what else I'm up to on instagram:
Huge thanks to my friends for help with this film!
Voiceover:
Cameraman:
Homie:
Japan is my favorite place that I have traveled to. This video is a piece of visual poetry that I filmed along the way. Walking around Tokyo and taking the bullet train to the countryside feels surreal. Like a living breathing Hayao Miyazaki film. I also ate sinful amounts of matcha and mochi ice cream on this trip. I hope you enjoy the film! Highly recommend taking a trip to Japan and Tokyo.
I wanted to post this video much sooner but got stuck on the voice over and was super busy with videography jobs. Going to attempt to steadily post more frequently to Youtube. Cinematic videos like this are super fun to make. All of this was shot on Fujifilm XT3 with the fujinon xf 35mm 1.4, xf 16mm 1.4, and 55-200mm zoom. I really think that Fuji has won the Fujifilm vs Sony vs Canon vs Panasonic battle; at least for now.
