This Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) is one of the earliest introductions of the species to Britain. It has been at the Palace for five centuries and has seen 35 bishops come and go. It is believed that Bishop Grindal, who had a keen interest in plants, planted it at Fulham Palace. It is one of just 61 ‘Great Trees of London’
