Ketchikan - Halibut Fishing

This is the experience many anglers dream of when planning an Alaskan vacation, fishing for the largest flatfish in the world, the Pacific Halibut. Imagine catching your first wild halibut with your friends or family and the bragging rights that will come with sharing this delectable fish back home. Unlike many other Alaska destinations, Ketchikan fishing is in protected waters, a short ride from the marina. No matter your skill level, you'll fish like a local, with a Penn rod and Penn 114 reel in your own two hands, working the sandy flats, drifting with the current, jigging in waters as deep as 300 feet. Spend the day with an experienced Alaskan guide, in pursuit of the elusive halibut, learning the secrets of fishing circle hooks, working the tides and battling your leviathan. You can choose to custom process your halibut, as well as purchase a selection of local Alaskan seafood to include with the shipment of your bounty home. Note: Participants must be at least 5 years of age, weigh a minimum of 30 lbs and a maximum of 300 lbs. Deck or rubber soled shoes must be worn on board. We recommend that you wear warm, layered clothing. Rain gear, rubber boots, comfortable float jackets, wool socks, hat and gloves. Halibut fishing equipment and tackle are provided. Actual fishing duration is 4 1/2 hours. Alaska State Law requires a fishing license that can be purchased in cash at the outfitting room for $20. You'll need a credit card in order to have your catch processed and sent home (U.S. only). Fish cannot be stored on board the ship.

The most comfortable whale watching tour in the Banderas Bay area.
Whale watching season officially starts again on December 3rd as hundreds of Humpback whales arrive off the coast of Banderas' Bay and Puerto Vallarta.
Whale Watching Season Begins in the Banderas´ Bay
Their annual migration from the cold waters of Alaska brings them as far down as the Banderas' Bay where they will procreate and raise their young in our warm waters.
As the newborns don't yet possess the required amount of body fat to insulate them from the cold water in the North pacific, spending the winter in our area gives them the time they need for development. By March, they will be strong enough for the long journey back towards Alaska.
While females nurse the calves and teach them behaviors such as breaching, spy hopping, and tail slapping, the males are courting the females - singing in long, repetitive voices trying to get the chance to mate. Many boats will drop a microphone into the water so you can hear firsthand the enchanting, haunting, songs from under the water.
Every year from December through March, whales can be seen from the coastline; a short walk on the beach will produce the sighting of a blow hole erupting, a slapping fin, or the most spectacular view of them all: the male back flip.
Males keen on impressing females with their size will jump entirely out of the water, roll in the air and land on their back in a big splash - no small task at a weight of 30 tons. Of course, this show is much more thrilling when it's done just dozens of feet away while you're sitting in a boat. Hence, the enormous popularity of the whale watching tours.
The Humpback Whale is a protected species so there is no touching or feeding, but quite often the whales will put on a show for the boat's strange inhabitants, seeming to enjoy their clicking cameras and the oohs and ahhs.
A typical whale watching expedition will take between 2-4 hours and will include breakfast on board. Once a whale has been spotted in the distance, the boat will race towards it, stopping at the required distance to allow cameras to roll. The cries of joy and astonishment, the streams of water coming out from the blowhole close by you, the playful splashing of the mothers and young, and their smiling faces (the curve of their mouths will make you swear they're smiling at you,) makes for an unforgettable experience.
When the giant mammals disappear under the water, the photo comparing and chatter resumes until the next whale appears in the distance and the whole show repeats itself again.

IRR at work in Ketchikan Alaska
The City of Ketchikan has used IRR for patching potholes since last summer. Our crews are continually amazed at how well it has performed. We have not had a single patch ravel or come loose this winter. It is even better than the original asphalt.
The winter freeze thaw cycles with rain and snow has not phased the material at all. Chains do not even marr or scratch the patch. Overall, we couldn't be more pleased with IRR and we plan to have plenty of material on hand from now on.
Thanks for developing this amazing product. It has saved us a lot of money.
Regards,
Harvey Hansen

Alaska 2017 - A video portrait.
In August of 2017, I took my first trip to Alaska with my grandfather for a salmon fishing trip. Alaska is by far one of the wildest, most pristine and most remote places I have ever been.
Black Bear swimming Across Naha Bay, Ketchikan, Alaska
We took this video earlier this summer. We were sitting at the dining table with Gary Lewis and his family and camera man (Gary Lewis Outdoor Adventures) when Jack spotted a dark shape out in the bay. He had just saying it would be neat if he got to see a bear swimming in the bay. We then realized that the dark shape he saw was in fact a bear swimming across the bay in front of our home and lodge. Jack grabbed his camera and positioned himself at our guest accommodation to film the bear. I also grabbed my camera and this is the video I took. Jack's footage will be part of one of the two shows that they will air in the spring of 2012.

There are lots of reasons to go after an Alaska fishing job.
The answer’s pretty simple really. People are drawn to the adventure of working in America’s last great frontier and by the excellent earnings potential. With overtime and the possibility for bonus pay, workers in Alaska’s salmon processing plants enjoy the possibility of making far more than their counterparts working fast food or retail back home in the lower-48. Okay, maybe the answer isn’t even that simple!

Episode 3--Alaskan Fishing Adventure--BS Boys Outdoors
A video you don't want to miss. Even though Sid wasn't able to make the trip it would be an adventure of a lifetime. Packed up and 2 flights later our family hopped on our Alaskan Cruise. We made a trip to Ketchikan, Alaska, the salmon capital of the world, to catch some of the most amazing fish this earth has to offer. Its way different than our normal Kansas fishing and the views were breathtaking. We caught plenty of fish for a feast and it was a trip we will never forget. Thank you AAA sport fishing for the amazing experience.
