An amphibious vehicle (or simply amphibian), is a vehicle that is a means of transport, viable on land as well as on (or under) water. Amphibious vehicles include amphibious bicycles, ATVs, cars, buses, trucks, military vehicles, boats and hovercraft.
Classic landing craft are not amphibious vehicles as they do not offer any real land transportation at all, although they are part of amphibious warfare. Ground effect vehicles, such as ekranoplans, will likely crash on any but the flattest of landmasses so are also not considered to be amphibious vehicles.

Duck Boat proves to be more than a tourist attraction during Harvey
In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, it has been easy to find people going out of their way to help those in need. One local man recently returned from the Houston and Galveston area, where he lent a helping hand.
However, the way he contributed is something unexpected.
You may have seen a vehicle that resembles a bus with wheels in places like Disney World or on a trip to Austin. It's called a Duck Boat.
It drives on land like a bus, about the size of a city bus. And it floats in the water, it has a propeller, said Kirk Haney, a Corpus Christi resident who previously worked with the boats.
However, when the scene is one of flooding and devastation, like it was near Houston after Harvey, the Duck Boat, has a bigger purpose than tourism.
Haney, a Corpus Christi resident, is friends with the owner of Austin Duck Adventures, and he was with him in Austin when the calls started coming in.
