March 10, 2018 the Galveston Railroad Museum in conjunction with BNSF and Amtrak exercised the Museums equipment on a special First Responders run from Galveston to Pearland & return.
The guests were treated to a boxed lunch while enjoying the scenery along the way.

Tour of Train Engines at Galveston Railroad Museum (4K)
We visited the Galveston Railroad Museum in February 2019 after a cruise and our little one really enjoyed it. There were many large trains at the yard, some we were able to climb aboard and explore. Some of the trains we saw included:

* A US Post Office Train/US Mail Railway Post Office
* Donald E Harper Jr Train
* Pullman Crescent train
* Lonzo H. Harter
* Union Pacific Train DS 410
* Oregon-Pacific and Eastern Rail Yard Train
* RPCX Train
* Waco Beaumont Trinity & Sabine Rail Yard train
We also got to see train cabins, a kitchen, bathrooms, dining china, and even a model train museum area, which you can see in more detail in another video:
The Galveston Railroad Museum Special (2014) - Galveston to Alvin, TX
On September 20th, 2014, the Galveston Railroad Museum ran a special train on the BNSF between Galveston and Rosenberg, TX. The train ran with the Museum's two ATSF-painted F7A's bracketing 3 passenger cars. Galveston is about 50 miles southeast of Houston and Rosenberg is about 40 miles to the southwest.
The special train was run as a way to test the feasibility of running on the BNSF in the event of a Hurricane Evacuation. After Hurricane Ike in 2008, the Galveston Railroad Museum had about 6 feet of standing Salt Water in and through the Museum. It caused millions in damages and resulted in the loss of a few rail cars and the Museum's two F-Units (Which were different than these two seen here). All other rail cars received significant damage as well.
As a result of this, the Museum plans to try and evacuate the Museum of all rail-worthy rolling stock (That is, rolling stock that can roll, unlike stationary exhibits or cars too damaged from Ike). So, the Museum ran a Special Train with their two new F-Units (Purchased after Hurricane Ike) and 3 of their passenger cars on BNSF tracks for about 70 miles to Rosenberg, TX and back.
Shot 1: This is at the Galveston Railroad Museum, which is the former ATSF Galveston Station. The train is pulling out of Track 1 and onto the lead to the Museum. In front of the train is an Amtrak truck, as this move was coordinated with Amtrak and used Amtrak train crews.
Shot 2: This is at 77th Street on Galveston Island, about 5 miles west of the Museum. The train is now on UP's former MP/MKT main on the Island and is heading towards the Galveston Causeway to leave the Island.
Shot 3: This is at Virginia Point, TX, which is at the north end of the Galveston Causeway. Here, the UP and BNSF split into their respective tracks to run northward. The Special takes the BNSF.
Shot 4: This is at Alvin, TX, which is about 20 miles northwest of Galveston. The train is continuing on the BNSF and the former ATSF Alvin Depot can be seen in the background.

GALVESTON RAILROAD MUSEUM
This was my 2nd stop during my trip to Galveston Texas. It was a really cool train museum and I like the fact I was able to go inside some of them. It's truly a trip back in time when you visit places like this. Here's my quick tour of the museum.

Galveston Railroad Museum perfect for first-time train riders | HTX+ GALVESTON
The Galveston Railroad Museum offers visitors the unique experience of riding inside a train caboose for a mile. While on your ride, either Perry Hatch or Morris Gould will greet you with a warm smile and more than 70 years of railroad knowledge.
The most enjoyable part is visiting with the visitors literally from all over the world, said Gould, the chief operating officer of the museum.
Hatch, who conducted trains for more than 40 years, enjoys volunteering and conducting the train every Saturday.
You get to see the kids come up on the engine or the caboose, and they are smiling from ear to ear, said Hatch. Then you find out their mom and dad have never been on a train either. It is really a lot of fun seeing them react to how loud the bells and whistles are, and the motion of the train.
The Galveston Railroad Museum offers train rides only on Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Spent 6 days in Galveston, Texas, attending the AAPI annual convention at the Tremont House Hotel in February 2014. Being the time of year it was not busy although there was a cruise liner in. The following week there would be the annual Madi Gras festival. We were centred around the Historic Strand district which had a variety of places of interest; the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and the Railroad Museum were of particular interest. Dined out on a Texas Death Burger washed down with Buried Hatchet Stout one night! Visited the Gulf Of Mexico and visited the Bubba Gump restaurant of Forest Gump fame. Overall a nice town but the weather at that time of the year didn't do it justice - I'm sure with the warmer weather and the atmosphere it would be a lively spot and well worth another visit.

Galveston RR Museum Grand Reopening Special
Some pictures from the special passenger train trip organized by the Galveston Railroad Museum to celebrate their grand reopening after recovering from the damage of Hurricane Ike.
Galveston Sub. Rock Train Pace w/Five 645s

During the last stand of Temple's SD45-2s assigned to local rock train service, I had an epic all-afternoon chase of a Brownwood to Pearland rock train with 3 SD45-2s and 2 SD40-2s for power. The video starts with the train hammering out of Sealy, followed by 7 minutes of pacing a few miles south of town. After a meet at Wallis, we're underway again with a great pull out of the hole, followed by 24 minutes of blissful throttle modulation pacing. Finally, the Brownwood rock train eases through the Tower 17 Interlocking in Rosenberg, ending a great afternoon in the time machine of the Galveston Sub.
I DID USE YOUTUBE's SHAKE FIX FEATURE, WHICH OVERALL IMPROVES THE EXPERIENCE OF THE VIDEO. HOWEVER, IT DOES ADD SOME WEIRD AND ANNOYING EFFECTS, ESPECIALLY WITH CAPTIONS.

Galveston Island is Booming!
Hurricane Ike broadsided Galveston Island on September 13, 2008. Damage was extensive. Six years later, Galveston is booming. Businesses have re-built and new businesses have arrived. People are excited about the entertainment, food and fun offered on the Island. There are the well known tourist haunts such as Moody Gardens and Bishop's Palace, but how about learning some new island venues. The Lone Star Flight Museum is a thrill. I never knew it was there until Justine and I decided to video Galveston.Once we were there, she couldn't get me to leave! The Grand 1984 Opera House will take your breath away. I've had the privilege of visiting opera houses throughout the world. This one ranks among the top five. You might think, why would I want to see old railroad cars? But, trust me, visit The Galveston Railroad Museum. You'll have a blast walking in and out of the cars and locomotives. The model railroads are spectacular.
The Hotel Galvez, whether you stay there or not, is a step back into a time of luxury and grace. In the basement is a museum of the history of the Hotel Galvez as well as Galveston Island.
Stop in at La Kings on The Strand and watch them make salt water taffy while you lick on a hand dipped ice cream cone. Stroll around Murdochs Pier for souvenirs and relax watching the waves crash onto the beach.
There is so much to do on the island and everyone will give you a warm welcome.

Galveston TX Railroad Museum 10/1/2016 - feat. Amtrak Exhibit Train!
For the Galveston Railroad Days 2016, the Amtrak Exhibit Train made a special appearance, which is unimaginably rare for Houston! And I had been looking forward to this ever since it was first announced for maybe half ago! On top of that, they brought the Patrick Henry cars, some BNSF executive cars, and a BNSF Tier 4 GEVO to the museum! I definitely had a great time looking around these cars and diesels! The next day, the special cars and F-units made a special excursion, and I caught it in Rosenberg:
