Ganish Himal Museum
A quiet museum about 45 kilometers south of Chiang Mai, featuring many forms of the Genesh diety. Brahminism flourished in the 1st and 2nd centuries, long before Thailand came to power. The Khmer played important roles in the central region of Thailand, while Indianization was experienced in the south of Thailand during the 2nd to 3rd centuries. Beliefs in Ganesha are quite strong in Thailand, and this museum displays a variety of different Ganesh, many with explanations of purpose. A nice little ride and experience.
The Ganesha Museum In Chaing Mai
Lord Ganesha is a widely revered God in Thailand, and more so by those who are in arts related careers..
In Chiang Mai's Doi Lor sub-district, some 41 kilometers from the city, one can find a private museum dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The museum, which is called Ganesha Museum, is owned by Banthorn Teerakanont, who is one of Thailand's leading devotees of Lord Ganesha.
Ganesha is a Hindu deity who has the head of an elephant and is the son of Lord Shiva. He is believed to be the God of accomplishment, wisdom and wealth. He is also the destroyer of evil and obstacles. Many Thais, who are born on Tuesday, consider Lord Ganesha to be their birthday God and worship on that day.
At the Ganesh Museum in Chiang Mai, you can find a main museum building, a Ganesha shrine and a gift shop. The museum building has three rooms that exhibit around 700 Ganesha statues, paintings, gemstone pictures and Ganesh images made from metal, wood and papier mache. The figurines of Ganesha are housed in the first and second room of the museum building and have been amassed from different countries like India, Sri Lanka, Laos, Myanmar and Burma. The third room is the worshipping room which features large statues of Lord Ganesha and his mice.
The Ganesha Museum holds a worshipping ceremony once a year and around 300 devotees attend this ceremony. Many devotees also bring their Ganesha statues to be blessed during this ceremony.
At the gift shop one can buy Ganesha figurines, incense, worshipping items and T-shirts.

LOCATION: The Lord Ganesha Temple and Museum is located about 40 km south of Chiang Mai city on highway 108 half the way between the city and Doi Inthanon National Park. The museum is located off the tourist track and you may need to ask locals for help and driving directions therefore I recommend that you speak Thai or have someone with you who knows the language. The museum is on the right side of the 108 road facing south probably 5 kilometers into the mountains. If you need more info email me directly at KROKOSC@YAHOO.COM
LORD GANESHA: may be also spelled as Ganesa or Ganesh and also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, and Pillaiyar, is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. His image is found throughout India. Hindu sects worship him regardless of other affiliations. Devotion to Ganesha is widely diffused and extends to Jains, Buddhists and beyond India. Although he is known by many other attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings and Lord of Obstacles (Vighnesha, Vighneshvara), patron of arts and sciences, and the deva of intellect and wisdom. He is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies and invoked as Patron of Letters during writing sessions. Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography. Ganesha emerged as a distinct deity in clearly recognizable form in the 4th and 5th centuries CE, during the Gupta Period, although he inherited traits from Vedic and pre-Vedic precursors. His popularity rose quickly, and he was formally included among the five primary deities of Smartism (a Hindu denomination) in the 9th century. A sect of devotees called the Ganapatya, who identified Ganesha as the supreme deity, arose during this period. The principal scriptures dedicated to Ganesha are the Ganesha Purana, the Mudgala Purana and the Ganapati Atharvashirsa.
ETYMOLOGY: Ganesh has many other titles and epithets, including Ganapati and Vigneshvara. The Hindu title of respect Shri is often added before his name. One popular way Ganesha is worshipped is by chanting a Ganesha Sahasranama, a litany of a thousand names of Ganesha. Each name in the sahasranama conveys a different meaning and symbolises a different aspect of Ganesha. At least two different versions of the Ganesha Sahasranama exist; one version is drawn from the Ganesha Purana, a Hindu scripture venerating Ganesha

The Timeless Present Moment Exhibition @ MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum
The Timeless Present Moment
Exhibition by Kamin Lertchaiprasert
25 September 2016 - 6 February 2017
MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum is proud to present a solo exhibition, Kamin Lertchaiprasert: Timeless Present Moment, a retrospective with selected artworks from two periods in the artist’s life. For the past thirty-six years, Lertchaiprasert has continued to create artworks as a means to find the value and meaning of life. Not only as a form of meditation, the artist also considers art as a process to discover human values within oneself and the absolute truth.
During the first ten years of his artistic endeavour (1979-1988), Lertchaiprasert created visual artworks in the forms of photography and printmaking to question and search for life’s meaning. The exhibition will feature a collection of his paintings entitled “Circle of Life” which, though never exhibited anywhere, marks the beginning of his pursuit for the value of life through the creation of artworks. The second part of this exhibition will display his works from the past ten years (2008-2016) through the collection “Before Birth After Death”, as the artist has realised the influence of the past and the future on the present moment. Lertchaiprasert has engaged himself in a wide array of creative activities, including drawing, painting, reading, meditating, pottery-mak- ing, wax-sculpture, and live and recorded performance, to name but a few. The learning process underlying these activities contributes to the understanding of the present moment as the point between the past and the future. Everything that happens, happens only in the present moment, neither in the past nor in the future. This concept has rendered the latest collection of his work under the name “Timeless Present Moment”.
“The Present Moment” is the state that is without everything and includes everything in the same time. It is existing and non-existing, the state of selflessness, beyond time, beyond duality. If we happen to experience this state even once, it will change our perspective and transcends us beyond our thoughts from consciousness experiences that perceive everything as self-centric, because in fact everything is actually one.

Another beautiful morning in Chiangmai. I decided to ride my motorbike 40 km to the Ganesha Temple and see what it looks like.
Chiang Mai National Museum Durian Street food Chiang Mai Thailand
Vlog 79 Part 2
2.12.16
Following on from part 1
I go into the Chiang Mai National museum.
I give you a quick peek of what you can see inside if you come along.
After I go off in search of a cool drink and on the way make a stop for some Durian.
I love Durian so when I saw the street food stall selling it I had to buy some.
So I sit outside Waywee Coffee and with my “caramel coffee ice boom” I enjoy my durian.
After this I go back to my hotel, get changed and goto the Chiang Mai Gym.
A real old school gym this and I have a good workout.
Just before I head out for dinner I share a rare moment when I slipped up and nearly made a very big mistake !!
