Garda Mounted Support Unit on Parade in Dublin Castle
The Mounted Unit was established in 1998 and is based in the Phoenix Park. The Unit’s facilities include stables, tack rooms, stores, paddocks and an all-weather training arena. The Unit provides support to Garda Districts in many counties on a regular basis.

éirígí Councillor Louise Minihan's car is searched as she arrives at a protest against the presence of the UDA in the Memorial Gardens, Dublin, May 18th, 2011. As more than a dozen Gardai concentrate on searching Minihan's car up to 30 members of the UDA murder gang enjoy the company of Elizabeth Windsor just 400metres away. During the search the Garda seized a banner with the text 'FUND COMMUNITIES, NOT ROYAL VISITS!' on it - deeming it be offensive material.

Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan honoured the 88 members who have died on the job at an event in the Dubhlinn Gardens in Dublin Castle today. 100,000 Irish protesting water charges.
Protest around the entrance to Trinity College, downtown Dublin, on 10/11/14 (Saturday). Some people say there were 100k protesters (some other estimate says 50k). I was amazed to see Irish on the streets. Go Irish!

Dublin (Queens visit) 2011
Just received a postal summons to Court 46 Chancery Street, D7 on the 16th of October, I am appearing for failing to follow the direction of the garda (section 8 public order act) while I was attempting to reach a peaceful protest at the Garden of Remembrance against the visit by the british queen on the 17th of May 2011.
When arrested my camera phone was taken and never returned and I had €50 lifted from my wallet while held at the station. I had to spend a night in prison and was banned out of several districts of Dublin for a number of months.
It is interesting that I am being re-charged 17 months after the fact, I had thought there was a limit in the period of time that it was legal to recharge?
