Following the recent heavy rain and landslide crisis in the Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand, where many roads got washed away and more than 70,000 people are stranded, a group of Rishikesh's travel agents and mountain expedition specialists couldn't sit idle and teamed up to provide help.
The 12 local companies*) from Rishikesh got together and organised ration/supplies (water, biscuits, bread, juice, rice, flour, tea, sugar, gas cylinders, tents, ropes, blankets, clothes, torches, medicine) and prepared 12 trucks to go into the mountain area.
More than 40 courageous and determined volunteers risked their lives in order to help neglected village people who had not received any help so far. Despite a badly destroyed and interrupted road network, worsening weather and looming landslides, they managed to deliver help where it was need -- in the region of Agastmuni and Gaurikund (Kedarnath).
Thank God, the Rishikesh Team has safely returned last night.

Mussoorie/Landour food tour | Swimming Momo + World’s Best Pancake + Cheesy Omelette
► Subscribe to Delhi Food Walks:
► More street food in Uttarakhand:
In the second episode of our Uttarakhand food tour series, we have traveled to two most famous tourist destinations Mussoorie and Landour. The former is a popular hill station is in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayan range, that was discovered in 1815. The latter is a military cantonment that is considered to be the part of 'greater Mussoorie'. In this food trail we were accompanied by Lokesh Ohri, who is a noted anthropologist, cultural activist and flaneur.
Before leaving for Mussoorie from Dehradun, we stopped at Sri Prakasheswar Mahadev Mandir to pray. It is the place where Anubhav used walk up to during his school days for having the Prasad. Hence walking in search of good food has been there from the very beginning.
Our first stop in Mussoorie was Lovely Omelette Centre that serves probably one of the best omelettes not only in the region. The stall is a favourite among tourists and locals alike. We tried their famous cheese omelette that was indeed an amazing omelette with bread and cheese slices. The perfectly done omelette was a perfect thing to try in the pleasant weather of the town.
Next stop was Chick Chocolate, where we had landed to try the Stick Jaw Toffees. These sugar and milk based toffees are so sticky in nature that the just binds your teeth on eating them.
From there we went to The Rice Bowl or Amitash Restaurant, another celebrated name in the town. They are popular for Tibetan, Bhutanese and Thai cuisine. Here we tried Chicken Mokthuk and Chicken Baikrapao. Check out the details in the video. Both the dishes were quite delicious.
Our next stop was Landour, which was half an hours drive from Mussoorie. There our halt was Char Dukan, a place where there are a lot of old and new eateries. We first went to Tip-Top tea point for their fabled pancake and bun omelette. The cinnamon pancake was phenomenal while the bun omelette was decent too. We also got to hear some stories about the place from the genial owner.
Next we were at Anil’s cafe in the same line whose Nutella Waffles is a best selling thing. The waffles were warm and crisp and the gooey and decadent Nutella on top just elevated its irresistibly.
The last stop of our trail was A Prakash & Co at Sisters Bazaar, a name that everyone in Landour reckons with when it comes to jams, preserves and some bakery items. We loved the cinnamon roll with orange ginger marmalade. Do try their products if you visit the place.
Soon it was time to wrap up this pleasant food tour that was full of international dishes and their gratifying flavours, picturesque and postcard perfect vistas and some intriguing anecdotes from the bygone era. Heartiest gratitude to Lokesh Ohri and team BTDT for their support, insights, hospitality and enthusiasm.

Uttarakhand or Uttaranchal is a region that is one of the most fond tourist haunts of India today. The reason is it has everything to fulfill the thirst for vacationing that a traveler carries in his heart. The forests, steep slopes, mountainous peaks pull the adventure seekers, nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts to the region.Summer's Tides by ????Oshóva???? The many beautiful hill stations of Uttarakhand are famous honeymooning spots while the Chota Chardham circuit too is nestled in this region drawing thousands of devout pilgrims Uttarakhand falls to the North of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh with Nepal to its East and Tibet above it. If there is one thing you can say about Uttarakhand, it is that God was at his creative best in creating a magnificent countryside dotted with hills and mountains, gorges and ravines, undulating meadows and playfully winding rivers whose waters frolic and gambol on their way to the sea. Travel to this scenic destination is a journey of delight and sheer pleasure for the soul. It is veritably the Land of the Gods and the Switzerland of India. The State has over 400 destinations to pick and choose from. If you like adventure sports, there are dozens of destinations for you. If you are religious, then your Chardham Yatra to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath starts and ends here. If you like peace and quiet, there are scores of quiet, secluded retreats where you can spend days communing with nature. If you like ethnic diversity, there are flavors and colors of Kumaon and Garhwal to sample. With so many destinations available, it would be a difficult task to pack in as many as you can within the short time available to you. You could, however, start with the Valley of Flowers, an enchanting magical area that comes alive during spring, carpeting the land with 300 varieties of flowers and nature smiles benignly on you, letting you enjoy the colors and smells. Another equally alluring destination is Nainital, a quaintly charming British style resort built around the beautiful Naini Lake. Uttarakhand offers Rishikesh and Haridwar for the spiritually inclined. Rishikesh is a center for yoga and is dotted with dozens of ashrams, a place redolent with spirituality at each turn. Haridwar is considered as one of the seven holiest of all places in India, a place where pilgrims bathe in the Ganges before undertaking their trip to Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. Gangotri is at a height of about 3048 meters and pilgrims pay their respects at the temple of Ganga Mata on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. From here you can go on to explore the Gaumukh glacier. Yamunotri is another holy destination at a height of 3293 meters with a temple dedicated to Yamuna Mata where pilgrims worship the Goddess and bathe in the hot springs. Kedarnath, at a height of 3584 meters is one of the sites of the 12 jyotirlingas with a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Badrinath in Chamoli at a height of 3133 meters is home to Lord Vishnu. A visit to Uttarakhand would be incomplete without spending time at the Jim Corbett National Park, the oldest natural park, home to hundreds of species of birds, animals and plants. Jhirna is a popular bird watching spot in the sanctuary while Bijrani, a densely forested area is ideal to sight a tiger in natural settings. If you have had your fill of nature, then proceed to Dehradun, a modern hill station town with Ganga and Yamuna flowing to its east and west respectively. Dehradun offers the conveniences of city life and you can visit Sahastradhara springs and Tapkeshwar temple in the vicinity as also take a short trip to Rajaji National Park. Then you proceed to Mussoorie, another British hill station nestling in the foothills of the Shivalik and overlooking the Doon valley. If you love hill stations then you may want to explore Almora, Dharchula and Dhanaulti as well. If it is adventure that lures you, Uttarakhand has plenty in store for you. You could go to Lansdowne, Pauri, Mori, Kalsi, Naukuchiata, Mori or Ramgarh from a dozen and kick-start your exploration of hills, valleys and forests or go white water rafting, paragliding or indulge yourself in mountain biking.

About Us:
At Searching Souls we intend to encourage people, to take out time from their busy lives and join us on a journey of self-exploration. It’s a quest within, the finding of answers to some unasked questions. We have spent 25 years of life and we must say it has been a remarkable journey so far. Down the memory lane we rejoice many things and we regret few of them. There comes a time in every individual’s life when they question their existence, i.e. the true purpose of life. For some it happens sooner and for some at a very later stage. For us the answer is travel. It gives us time to think, to learn new things, to meet different people and understand different perspectives and finally introspect to grow. It is said that the world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page. Everybody needs such a break often and it will be our pleasure if we can be a catalyst in person’s journey. Along the journey meet new people, make friends, and make stories and the most important memories. There are 365 days in a year multiply it with the number of years you have lived, it gives a huge number we are sure. But how many of those do you remember, only a few. We want to add to that little no, which makes a big difference in your lives. Let us do the Small things which count big and stay forever.
