Watch me enter and walk around the gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center during my trip to Orlando this weekend! Gaylord Palms is a hotel and convention center, opened in Kissimmee, Florida, on February 2, 2002. It also acts as the de facto convention center for Osceola County, Florida, until plans for their own dedicated convention center are realized. With 400,000 sq ft (37,000 m2) of total meeting space, the Gaylord Palms has the second most meeting space of any hotel in the state of Florida. It also has a total of 1,406 guest rooms.

Gaylord Palms is owned by Ryman Hospitality Properties (formerly known as Gaylord Entertainment Company), and operated by Marriott International. It is a sister hotel to the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center, Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, and Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. It is located at the corner of International Drive South and Osceola Parkway, about ½ mile (800 m) east of Interstate 4, ½ mile (800 m) west of the Central Florida GreeneWay, 1-mile (1.6 km) north of US 192 and only a few miles away from Walt Disney World Resort.
Gaylord Palms was originally to be named Opryland Hotel Florida. However, when Gaylord Entertainment decided to re-brand their Opryland Hotels division to Gaylord Hotels on October 26, 2001, the name Gaylord Palms was given to the Florida hotel.
Gaylord Palms conducts Christmas programming with large-scale events like Best of Florida Christmas and ICE!, an attraction hand-carved from two million pounds of ice.
Gaylord Hotels has a tentative plan to expand the Gaylord Palms. This expansion may include an additional atrium containing up to 500 more rooms. There will be an added entertainment center, (which may contain a night club/disco), along with two new restaurants as well. This project will include and additional 400,000 to 600,000 sq ft (56,000 m2). of meeting/convention space, in effect doubling the current convention space. This planned expansion will also add at least one parking garage to the property.

Gaylord Palms Orlando: Christmas at the Gaylord Palms (2017 - 2018)
This year we spent Christmas at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida. The Gaylord put on a number of free special events during the holidays including an acrobatic stage show called Cirque Dreams Unwrapped and Joyful, a wonderful light show in the main atrium of the hotel. There is also a Christmas Tree Trail and holiday decorations throughout the resort.

The Gaylord Palms Orlando is one of the best luxury and convention hotels in Orlando and is just a short distance to the Walt Disney World Resort. You can even see the Disney fireworks at night. This hotel has more than 1,400 rooms and approximately 400,000 square feet of convention and meeting space as well as a number of fantastic restaurants. There is a 4.6 acre fully glass enclosed atrium themed around Castillo de San Marcos (North Americas oldest fort), Key West and The Everglades. There is also a separate wing called Emerald Bay which includes 26 luxury suites.
The pool area is so large that is can almost be called a water park. There is a beach entry pool, several water slides including a drop slide where the floor falls out, a huge TV screen for dive-in movies, in water basketball hoop, kids splash park and a Flo Rider - which is a surf simulator. You really need to check this out.
The Gaylord Palms hosts ICE! which has become an annual holiday tradition at the resort. There is a full Christmas village where you can meet Santa & Mrs. Claus, snow tubing, snowball throwing area and more. Be sure to check out our full video at:

If you want to stay somewhere really deluxe and relaxing try the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center. It is best to go when it is peak season. In the off season many of the very fine restaurants may not be open. The resort is completely enclosed under a dome. Except the rather large and fun swimming pool area. The resort is not cheap. So be prepared to pay top dollar if you stay here.
