Ray & Lesley's Azores Jeep Safari
Join us for our latest adventure, a Jeep Safari into the remote North Western area of Sao Miguel Island in the Azores.
Fantastic scenery, flowers, lakes, stunning sea views, mountains, this has everything and more.
Guided by our excellent driver, Dinis Geraldes from Geo Fun Tours ( geo-fun.com ), we explore areas rarely seen by tourists, and even have time for a swim with the locals in a naturally heated, by vented hot spring, area of the sea, magic stuff.
If you've never been, go to the Azores, it is out of this world.
Best wishes Ray & Lesley Cordell

I can't believe this is Europe! - Geothermal Wonderland
We cruised around the Azores exploring the islands geothermal wonders. I hurt my back while surfing the previous day so this was the perfect occasion to get out of the water and do some sight seeing. We finished our day with a relaxing soak in the hot springs right in the middle of the rainforest! What a day! My back is doing great now and I have been able to surf. New videos coming soon!
ABOUT ME:
If this is the first time you see one of my videos I would like to introduce myself and welcome you to my channel! Here you will find backpacking videos on how to travel the world continuously as a digital nomad. I promise a lot of adventures and fun as well as practical tips on how to stay on the road for longer.
My name is Duarte de Zoeten, I am a digital nomad a backpacker and a travel vlogger. I first started solo travelling almost two years ago now. On that first trip backpacking alone around New Zealand, Indonesia and Thailand, I discovered I have an insatiable wanderlust bug. The freedom and adventure had a huge effect on me. Soon, I started to wonder how to travel non-stop. Permanent travel, as they call it, was for me an impossible dream reserved only for the luckiest and most successful travel blogger. People who are location independent and can travel to all countries in the world seemed like a thing from another galaxy.
After living a semi-nomadic lifestyle (no more than 4 months in the same place) in the Netherlands, London, Lisbon and New York I decided to take it to the next level and quit my job to travel. Becoming a digital nomad is not as difficult as it seems, all you need is to be persistent and before you know it you travel permanently around the world. My approach now is to freelance and travel continuously and most of the times travelling alone as it frees me in a way that only a solo traveller will know.
I have decided to start a daily travel blog or travel vlog on how travelling continuously can be a reality for everyone. Travel nonstop, become the backpacker who wants to travel all countries in the world and become nomad to enjoy the ultimate freedom reserved only to those willing to break from the dullness of certainty and a 9 to 5 job.

The Azores Are So Beautiful! Video Travel Dairy
Wow. This place is stunning.
Every turn is incredibly beautiful.
It's got volcanic mountains, beaches, lagoons inside dormant volcanoes, giant geraniums dotting the roads, Japanese pine forests, hot springs, fresh air, and local foods. Did I mention hot springs?
It really looks like something out of a fantasy novel.
We've both been so busy this Fall, and it was incredible to be here with my wife to relax and explore this magnificent island.
Now we're back and I've got lots planned for the Winter and New Year at my gym Quantum CrossFit (will be unveiling some a program and competition soon), and in on my website with my online offerings.

Azores | Wikipedia audio article
This is an audio version of the Wikipedia Article:

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written
language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through
audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio
while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using
a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The Azores ( ə-ZORZ or AY-zorz; Portuguese: Açores, [ɐˈsoɾɨʃ]), officially the Autonomous Region of the Azores (Região Autónoma dos Açores), is one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal (along with Madeira (Região Autónoma da Madeira). It is an archipelago composed of nine volcanic islands in the North Atlantic Ocean about 1,360 km (850 mi) west of continental Portugal, about 1,643 km (1,021 mi) west of Lisbon, in continental Portugal, about 1,507 km (936 mi) northwest of Morocco, and about 1,925 km (1,196 mi) southeast of Newfoundland, Canada.
Its main industries are agriculture, dairy farming, livestock, fishing, and tourism, which is becoming the major service activity in the region. In addition, the government of the Azores employs a large percentage of the population directly or indirectly in the service and tertiary sectors. The main capital of the Azores is Ponta Delgada.
There are nine major Azorean islands and an islet cluster, in three main groups. These are Flores and Corvo, to the west; Graciosa, Terceira, São Jorge, Pico, and Faial in the centre; and São Miguel, Santa Maria, and the Formigas Reef to the east. They extend for more than 600 km (370 mi) and lie in a northwest-southeast direction.
All the islands have volcanic origins, although some, such as Santa Maria, have had no recorded activity since the islands were settled. Mount Pico, on the island of Pico, is the highest point in Portugal, at 2,351 m (7,713 ft). If measured from their base at the bottom of the ocean to their peaks, which thrust high above the surface of the Atlantic, the Azores are actually some of the tallest mountains on the planet.
The climate of the Azores is very mild for such a northerly location, being influenced by its distance from the continents and by the passing Gulf Stream. Due to the marine influence, temperatures remain mild year-round. Daytime temperatures normally fluctuate between 16 °C (61 °F) and 25 °C (77 °F) depending on season. Temperatures above 30 °C (86 °F) or below 3 °C (37 °F) are unknown in the major population centres. It is also generally wet and cloudy.
The culture, dialect, cuisine, and traditions of the Azorean islands vary considerably, because these once-uninhabited and remote islands were settled sporadically over a span of two centuries.
Shark Attacks our Giant Tuna
In this episode, I go fishing offshore with Carl from Slob City Fishing Charters using live bait to catch kingfish, sailfish, dolphin, and blackfin tuna. We used four kite baits and several flat-lined baits. Our first bite was a solid kingfish (estimated around 25-30lbs). Shortly after, we caught a dolphin (mahi-mahi), two smaller kingfish and a mutton snapper! While Carl was reeling in a kingfish, one of the flat lines started bending! Sailfish on! While I was fighting the sailfish, a hammerhead shark appeared out of nowhere and ate Carl's kite bait. Carl nearly got spooled by the hammerhead! As I was landing the sailfish, the hammerhead broke the line on Carl's reel. Later in the day, Carl hooked another hammerhead shark, but unfortunately, this shark broke the fishing line as well! At the end of the day, both Carl and I hooked two fish that we believed were tuna. I managed to catch mine before Carl; it turned out to be a bonito (false albacore). Carl got his fish to the boat; it was a giant blackfin tuna (over 30lbs)!! A sandbar shark attacked the blackfin tuna and nearly took half the fish! We worked all day to get that tuna bite, and at the end, the shark ended up taking half of the fish. We still had a great day on the water and caught a bunch of excellent fish!!
