The Real Ring Road Tour of Iceland (Landscape photography in Iceland)
Landscape photography in Iceland is a beautiful thing to do . but the ring road is a hard and crazy road to drive . in the next few videos you'll see my 1600KM in four days Journey around Iceland
The high and low the good and bad I head from the airport to my first stop, Seljalandsfoss.
A little further to the west you can find several other waterfalls. Among them is the interesting Gljufrabui, partially hidden within its own canyon. If you drive a little further east you will spot a sign saying Paradisarhellir, which will lead you to a small cave in the steep hill side.
If you drive east from Reykjavik, following Road 1, that will eventually lead you to Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. It is about 2 hours’ drive from Reykjavik and you can see the waterfall from the road. You’ll find the access to the waterfall is from the farm of Seljaland along the Ring Road, Iceland’s main highway.
Seljalandsfoss waterfall along Iceland’s southern coast is fed by melting water from the famed glacier-capped Eyjafjallajokull volcano. This powerful waterfall cascades into a pretty meadow. However, the path that runs behind the curtain of water is the main attraction. There you can enjoy a truly unique viewpoint of the waterfall.
If you intend to walk behind the waterfall, you will get wet. so ware good rain coat. have some good and sturdy shoes. It can get slippy under the waterfall.

Blue Lagoon, Iceland
Clips from the Blue Lagoon in Iceland shot on a November afternoon in 2012. A short drive from Reykjavik, Bláa lónið is a man-made geothermal spa said to be good for treating skin. There is a high concentration of silica and sulfur dissolved in the water. The source of the water is super-heated run-off from a geothermal energy plant nearby. The soundtrack is the intro for Eye of the Storm by The Fringe. (c) Deichmann, McCormick. Nature Bath Mývatn, North Iceland
Lake Mývatn–Iceland’s fourth largest–is one of the country’s most treasured places. Full of brilliant natural wonders, from the geothermal energy that flows generously throughout to the rich depths of the Krafla caldera, the grassy mounds of the pseudocraters and the strange, gaseous pots at Hverir. This combination of raw landscapes and warm baths has made it a hotspot for people looking for the strange and wondrous. It’s safe to say that if you want to spend some time revelling in the powers of nature, Mývatn is among the best areas in Iceland to do so...

Í ár verður Tour of Reykjavík skipt upp í tvær dagleiðir og næsta skref stigið í að gera keppnina að alþjóðlega viðurkenndri götuhjólakeppni að erlendri fyrirmynd þar sem að boðið er upp á fleiri en eina dagleið. Markmið viðburðarins er tvíþætt, annars vegar að almenningur taki virkari þátt í hjólreiðaviðburðum en ekki síður efla hjólreiðar á afreksstigi hér innanlands. Vonir standa til að erlend þátttaka aukist ár frá ári sem vonandi mun hvetja innlent hjólreiðafólk til dáða. Stefnan er sett á fjórar dagleiðir innan 5 ára. Tour of Reykjavík býður upp á fjölbreyttar hjólaleiðir fyrir alla þá sem áhuga hafa á hjólreiðum.
Í 125 km hjólaleiðinni sem fram fer 9. september verður farið í fylgd lögreglu frá Laugardal, um Mosfellsheiði til Þingvalla og Nesjavallaleið til baka. Going Inside the Thrihnukagigur Volcano near Reykjavik Iceland - July 5, 2012
They have opened this tour into the volcano, to the public for a few weeks this summer 2012 only: They will then assess the environmental impact, etc & decide whether it will be put on again. My son Mark (MarkFreeman408 on YouTube), his friend Josh, and filmmakers Marcus & Kelly from Skylight Films ( are here in Iceland on a holiday/filming/adventure trip. We felt privileged to be able to go inside 120 metres / 400' down into a 4,000 year old volcano magma chamber. This is the only place in the world that is offering, or has ever offered this. Previous to this year, only a limited number of scientists were allowed in & spent hours rappelling down by rope .. we went in by a lift, after a 1 hour hike across an ancient lava field. The original volcano exploration in 2011 was featured by National Geographic:

2012 GeoTours Iceland
A fantastic 10-day tour all the way around Iceland
Reykjavik Rising
In October 2008 Iceland was hit with one of the biggest financial disasters any nation in the world had experienced. In response, citizens took to the streets creating what is now known as the “Pots and Pans Revolution”.
In response to widespread media silence and a growing global trend towards people-led movements, this documentary explores how and why the people of Iceland resisted the measures imposed by their government following the crisis of 2008 and how they forced their government to resign in an attempt to forge a new political path.
Filmed in Reykjavik between 2012 and 2014, the documentary meets the instigators of the revolution and follows the most important National Referendum in Iceland’s history. Giving the Icelandic people the opportunity to decide whether to support a constitution that had been created through a popular grassroots movement. Through this we explore the Icelanders' story of their nation and their revolution but also what lessons can be learned globally from their experiences.
In light of a growing international trend towards grassroots movements crossing over into mainstream politics. This documentary is a timely portrayal of one such movement and their struggle to change the face of democracy.

Iceland and Greenland
Both are countries….um, well, Greenland is not exactly its own country. It’s part of the Kingdom of Denmark, considered a self-governing constituent country. So it’s almost a country? Kind of a country? Well, most of the people who live there are not Danish. They are Inuit.
Iceland is a country. Both are wayy north. In fact, north of 60 degrees north of the Earth’s equator. So in the winter they have little sunlight, but in the summer the sun doesn’t seem to ever go down.
The Vikings, or more accurately the Norsemen, were the first European settlers of both Iceland and Greenland, reaching the two places hundreds of years before Columbus sailed west. However, Greenland was first settled by various Inuit tribes thousands of years before European arrival. The Norseman were the first settlers of Iceland, arriving around the year 870. So Iceland is one of the most recent islands ever settled by humans.
Islands? Yeah, both Iceland and Greenland are islands. Greenland is the largest island in the world.
Both have hardly any people. Iceland has a population of around 350,000, while Greenland has a population of around 57,000, despite being about 21 times bigger than Iceland. There are more people in the city of Omaha, Nebraska, than both Iceland and Greenland COMBINED.
Both have hardly any native species of plants and animals. There are absolutely no native reptiles or amphibians on the two islands. Get this, Greenland has mosquitoes, that can be pretty relentless in the summer especially since it’s been getting warmer there, but Iceland? Nope. Iceland apparently has no mosquitoes.
Most residents of both are concentrated in one single city. More than half of Icelanders live in or around Reykjavík, Iceland’s largest city, and about a third of Greenlanders live in Nuuk, Greenland’s largest city.
The biggest religion in both countries is Christianity, specifically having ties with Lutheranism. The Church of Denmark dominates in Greenland, and the Church of Iceland dominates in, um, you know, Iceland. But really, Iceland is much less religious than Greenland. It’s a very secular country, and church attendance tends to be low there.
Both are more politically and culturally aligned with Europe than North America, despite the fact that Greenland is part of North America. Both have a parliamentary system of government. As I mentioned earlier, Greenland is technically still part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but it governs itself. Denmark only still controls Greenland’s defense and foreign relations.
Both have economies that revolve fishing and fish processing and the metals. Greenland, however, is heavily dependent on Denmark in terms of investment dollars. Tourism is much bigger in Iceland than Greenland.
Both are members of NATO. Both are not members of the European Union. Well, Denmark is so Greenland is closely linked to it. Both Iceland and Greenland have universal health care.
Based solely on the names of the two, it may seem that Iceland and Greenland are two very different places, and yep, they mostly are, but they also have many, many differences.
Iceland 2013 Video Postcard: Reykjavik & Blue Lagoon
