California to New York: A Complete Road Trip
This is a complete road trip compilation from Santa Monica, California to New York City over eight different days from June-September, 2017 - all recorded in time-lapse at 4fps (nearly 100,000 frames total). Of the 3,253 miles (5,235 kilometers) driven, about 3 miles of this drive is missing, mostly in Colorado near Poncha Springs. Nearly all of this drive was done in daytime, but there is about 10 minutes of this video done in darkness in Arizona (about 1:00:00 to 1:10:00). The weather was good for the most part, except from Pennsylvania all the way to the Bronx, before clearing up in Manhattan. This trip also includes driving through the solar eclipse of August 21 in Nebraska (at about 3:30:00), as well as driving over the old Tappan Zee Bridge in upstate NY, which permanently closed a month later with the opening of the new Mario M Cuomo Bridge adjacent to it.
The states passed through are
California (0:00:35-0:40:54)
Arizona (0:40:54-1:40:26)
New Mexico (1:40:26-1:41:09)
Colorado (1:41:09-3:07:17)
Nebraska (3:07:17-3:51:05)
Iowa (3:51:05-4:24:17)
Illinois (4:24:17-4:50:42)
Indiana (4:50:42-5:10:51)
Ohio (5:10:51-5:39:13)
West Virginia (5:39:13-5:40:48 & 5:47:09-5:51:52)
Pennsylvania (5:40:48-5:47:09 & 6:04:43-6:32:49)
Maryland (5:51:52-6:04:43)
New York (6:32:49-6:50:03)
The highest elevation of the drive was 11,539 ft (3,517 m) at 2:28:10. The highest elevation anywhere on the U.S. interstate system is 11,158 ft (3,401 m) at 2:33:41. Both of these elevations are two of the three continental divide crossings; the other, at 2:04:38 (10,856 ft / 3,309 m), is the first.
The hottest temperature of this trip was 110 F (43 C) in Needles, California (about 0:40:16), and the coldest temperature of this trip was 53 F (11 C) in Tusayan, Arizona (about 1:10:04) - only about 230 miles (370 km) from Needles.

Hey guys,
This is Episode 12 of 34 of our road trip across the USA. We traveled to 26 US States and 3 Canadian States over 6 1/2 months. This is where our vlogging journey really began.... We filmed alot, drove alot and Ian edited alot.
Today is a very special day as our new G7X arrived (YAY!) so we're super excited to test it out, and start producing high quality vlogs!! :-)
Is it crazy to ride bikes around the circumference of Manhattan, New York City, in a single day?
I had no idea. Googling it would take to long so we just decided to give it a try.
We started in Park Slope, Brooklyn and crossed into Manhattan over the Manhattan Bridge. We headed north through China Town and along the FDR waterway where we saw a lot of neat things like biplanes, skylines and bridges.
We had to enter into the treacherous city to cross the section of coast between the Queens Midtown Tunnel and the Queensborough Bridge. This was crazy with traffic and horns and unexpected people and hills and.... Anyways, we got little to no footage of that because we were in survival mode.
The coast north of that is fun and unpopulated. As we neared the top of the island, a swarm of bridges stopped us in our tracks from keeping to the coast. We crossed through Harlem to have lunch in Marcus Garvey Park.
Then it was northbound along the higher levels of Morningside park and Highbridge Park. This is a great way to see the city. We dropped down into Inwood and made it to the top of the island of Manhattan which, I believe can be found at the loop at the end of Inwood Hill Park.
We didn't realize that the bike path south of La Marina is a dead end. It's a beautiful dead end, but if your intention is to bike the west coast of Manhattan, this will be a waste of your time. Repeat: That bike path is a dead end!
We pick up speed along the Hudson River Greenway and make it all the way down to the Battery, passing iconic things like the intrepid sea, air and space museum, One Liberty Tower, yacht clubs, ferry terminals and so much more.
Finally, our story ends on the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset.
It's a bike trek of 30+ miles which took us about 10 hours to complete. This is not the best trip for everyone, but if you like biking and you want to learn New York City quickly, I can't think of a better way to spend the day.

NYC Biking - Central Park
On May 27th, 2013 my friend and I decided to take a bike ride through Manhattan, New York. I decided to wear a camera on my helmet so that I can record the beautiful ride, and these are the results! I decided to speed it up 2 times to make the film shorter. Enjoy!

Bike Ride around New York City filmed from the Handle Bars
Bike Ride around New York City filmed from the Handle Bars. Get a unique perspective of New York City as the camera fixed to the handle bars takes you on a tour of New York City.
You've probably seen New York City yourself, maybe you've seen it in TV shows and movies. This will definitely be a unique perspective as you see for yourself just how crazy New York City traffic can be when you're a cyclist.
About New York City often called NYC:
New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. The city is referred to as New York City or the City of New York to distinguish it from the State of New York, of which it is a part. A global power city, New York exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural capital of the world.
Cycling in New York City (NYC):
New York's high rate of public transit use, 120,000 daily cyclists, and many pedestrian commuters make it the most energy-efficient major city in the United States. Walk and bicycle modes of travel account for 21% of all modes for trips in the city; nationally the rate for metro regions is about 8%. In 2011, Walk Score named it the most walkable city in the United States. Citibank sponsored the introduction of 10,000 public bicycles for the city's bike-share project in the summer of 2013. Research conducted by Quinnipiac University showed that a majority of New Yorkers support the initiative.
To complement New York's vast mass transit network, the city also has an extensive web of expressways and parkways, that link New York City to northern New Jersey, Westchester County, Long Island, and southwestern Connecticut through various bridges and tunnels. Because these highways serve millions of suburban residents who commute into New York City, it is quite common for motorists to be stranded for hours in traffic jams that are a daily occurrence, particularly during rush hour.
Despite New York's reliance on public transit, roads are a defining feature of the city. Manhattan's street grid plan greatly influenced the city's physical development. Several of the city's streets and avenues, like Broadway, Wall Street, Madison Avenue, and Seventh Avenue are also used as metonyms for national industries there: the theater, finance, advertising, and fashion organizations, respectively.

I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (
Pretty long video, it's a bike ride from Union Square to Brooklyn. I only cut out about 2 minutes of the original video, where I took a water break in City Hall Park.
Morning RIde: LI to NYC
In this video I take you on a ride on what I call the drunken 8. It's a ride from my home in Long Island, NY to NYC and back. It totals 70 miles and passes through Queens, Prospect Park in Brooklyn, Central Park in Manhattan and over Queens Boro Bridge back home. I also talk about pushing yourself physically on the bike and to never dull your edge. Stay safe out there keep pushing the pedals. Enjoy!

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC (Narrated) : Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan (October 7, 2019)
Google Maps Location:
A narrated walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan. I talk about its history, construction, and current state of the bridge.
Corrections:
At 1:45 I mention John Roebling was the architect of the Brooklyn Bridge. He was actually the chief civil engineer.
At 2:28 I mention Boss Tweed was the mayor of New York City, but he was the corrupt political leader of Tammany Hall.
At 4:30 I mention Emily Roebling was John Roebling's wife. She was actually Washington Roebling's wife (I was correct the first time).
From Wikipedia:
The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid cable-stayed/suspension bridge in New York City and is one of the oldest roadway bridges in the United States. Started in 1869 and completed fourteen years later in 1883, it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, spanning the East River. It has a main span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m) and was the first steel-wire suspension bridge constructed. It was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge and the East River Bridge, but it was later dubbed the Brooklyn Bridge, a name coming from an earlier January 25, 1867, letter to the editor of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and formally so named by the city government in 1915. Since opening, it has become an icon of New York City and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 and a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark in 1972.

Mylungpuppy is the channel of musician Ron Anderson.
I have been making avant-music for over forty years in a number of different projects; PAK, The Molecules, RonRuins, numerous collaborations and solo. I combine composition and improvisation exploring the regions where they intersect. Sometimes my music is brutal, but I’m not afraid of melody, in general my work is pretty much out there.
The main focus of my channel is music, but I also make vlogs on various subjects, cycling, touring and traveling, vegan food, rare vinyl LPs, audio field recordings, etc. Because not everyone is going to be interested in all the subjects covered on this channel, I have made playlists so you do not have to search through videos to find what you are looking for.
I try to answer questions and respond to as many comments as I can, any and all feedback from you is welcome.
I'm trying to make at least one or two new videos a week.

⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Walking NYC (Narrated) : Little Italy, Manhattan (August 16, 2019)
Google Maps Route:
From Wikipedia:
Little Italy (Italian: Piccola Italia) is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, once known for its large population of Italian Americans. Today the neighborhood consists of only a few Italian stores and restaurants. It is bounded on the west by Tribeca and Soho, on the south by Chinatown, on the east by the Bowery and Lower East Side, and on the north by Nolita.
Little Italy on Mulberry Street used to extend as far south as Worth Street, as far north as Houston Street, as far west as Lafayette Street, and as far east as Bowery. It is now only three blocks on Mulberry Street. Little Italy originated as Mulberry Bend. Jacob Riis described Mulberry Bend as the foul core of New York's slums. During this time period Immigrants of the late 19th century usually settled in ethnic neighborhoods. Therefore, the mass immigration from Italy during the 1880's led to the large settlement of Italian immigrants in lower Manhattan. The results of such migration had created an influx of Italian immigrants which had led to the commercial gathering of their dwelling and business.
Bill Tonelli from New York magazine said, Once, Little Italy was like an insular Neapolitan village re-created on these shores, with its own language, customs, and financial and cultural institutions. Little Italy was not the largest Italian neighborhood in New York City, as East Harlem (or Italian Harlem) had a larger Italian population. Tonelli said that Little Italy was perhaps the city's poorest Italian neighborhood. In 1910 Little Italy had almost 10,000 Italians; that was the peak of the community's Italian population. At the turn of the 20th century over 90% of the residents of the Fourteenth Ward were of Italian birth or origins. Tonnelli said that it meant that residents began moving out to more spacious digs almost as soon as they arrived. Such a vastly growing community impacted the U.S. labor movement in the 20th century by making up much of the labor population in the garment industry.
After World War II, many residents of the Lower East Side began moving to Brooklyn, Staten Island, eastern Long Island, and New Jersey. Chinese immigrants became an increased presence after the U.S. Immigration Act of 1965 removed immigration restrictions, and the Manhattan Chinatown to Little Italy's south expanded. In 2004, Tonelli said, You can go back 30 years and find newspaper clips chronicling the expansion of Chinatown and mourning the loss of Little Italy.
