The Gettysburg Train Depot
Many communities have saved and then restored their old rail depots. That’s the case for this small Pennsylvania town. However, the depot here has more history than most, for it had connections to a famous battle and a favorite president…
Gettysburg RR Station & G&H Railroad Depot, Gettysburg, PA
Today I saw the Two Railroad Stations in Gettysburg PA. I went to film them, and saw Tank cars, etc.
Gettysburg Railroad Station on Carlisle Street was, Built in the 1850s, for trains. It was used during the Civil War, for soldiers. Plus President Abraham Lincoln stopped here to deliver the Gettysburg Address in 1863.
The Other station down Railroad St. on North Washington street, was Gettysburg and Harrisburg Railroad Depot.
The Gettysburg and Harrisburg Railroad Depot was Built in 1884 for the Gettysburg and Harrisburg Railroad Company. In the 1970s to the 1990s the Railroad Depot was used for the now Defunct, Gettysburg Scenic Railroad. It was used for Steam Locomotive's, Which the railroad once had 3 Steam Locomotive's operating
- Missisippian 76 Built 1920.
- Huntington and Broad Top 38 Built 1927.
- Canadian Pacific 1278 Built 1948.
They were used on the railroad til the 1990s, except for No.38 was used through the 80s. Now at the Everett Railroad of Holidaysburg PA, awaiting Restoration.
No.76 was used through the 1990s, which she was poorly managed on the railroad, she is now Stored and Also awaiting Restoration, at the Michigan State Trust for railway Preservation.
Canadian Pacific 1278 was used until the end of Steam used on the railroad, which ended very Sad. On June 16, 1995 1278 suffered a Crown Sheet Fail Explosion, that sadly resulted in injuring the Engineer and Both Firemen were Given 3 degree Burns. That was the end of Steam in the Gettysburg RR. CP 1278 is now Stored at the Newer Age Of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek, Ohio. The Locomotive's were Poorly Managed and taken care of, resulted of that Horrific Accident.

Gettysburg marks Lincoln’s historic address on 153rd anniversary
A host of events were held in the small town of Gettysburg in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania on Saturday to commemorate the 153rd anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, as well as to remember the fallen soldiers in the bloodiest campaign of the U.S. Civil War. The commemoration came right after a presidential election that many believe has turned the nation into a house divided, and many participants said that Lincoln’s words still need to be heeded in the face of an increasingly polarized society.

In this video we drive through the FULL auto tour of the Gettysburg National Military Park.
The Gettysburg National Military Park protects and interprets the landscape of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. Located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the park is managed by the National Park Service. The GNMP properties include most of the Gettysburg Battlefield, many of the battle's support areas during the battle (e.g., reserve, supply, & hospital locations), and several other non-battle areas associated with the battle's aftermath and commemoration, including the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Many of the park's 43,000 American Civil War artifacts are displayed in the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center.
The park has more wooded land than in 1863, and the National Park Service has an ongoing program to restore portions of the battlefield to their historical non-wooded conditions, as well as to replant historic orchards and woodlots that are now missing. In addition, the NPS is restoring native plants to meadows and edges of roads, to encourage habitat as well as provide for historic landscape. There are also considerably more roads and facilities for the benefit of tourists visiting the battlefield park.

Ep 38 - Ghostly Images of Gettysburg
If paranormal activity is related to places of extreme trauma and loss of life, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, must be one of the most haunted places in the United States. As we continue our tour of the best ghost tour companies in the world, we are joined by Joe Svehla, manager of Ghostly Images of Gettysburg. He shares with us some of his experiences leading ghost tours of one of the Civil War’s most important, and bloodiest, battlefields.
Civil War Firing Demonstration
Reenactors representing the 138th Pennsylvania Infantry, the unit that guarded Ellicott`s Mills, Maryland and environs during much of the Civil War, demonstrate loading and firing their 19th century rifles. Mike Radinsky, a reenactor and volunteer at the Museum, explains the process.
The B&O Railroad Museum, Ellicott City Station, housed in the oldest surviving railroad station in America and the terminus of the first thirteen miles of commercial rail in the United States, is currently commemorating the sesquicentennial of the beginning of the Civil War in April 1861, and will continue featuring Civil War related exhibits until April 2015 when the war ends.
The Museum and the little 18th-19th century mill village in which it is located, is well worth a visit. Ellicott City, nee Ellicott`s Mills, has shops of all descriptions, restaurants ranging from family friendly to the finest French Cuisine, as well as quite a number of other historical treasures.
Come see us. You will not be disappointed!
The Hall of Presidents in Gettysburg
The Hall of Presidents and First Ladies in Gettysburg is the area's only complete wax collection of American Presidents and first ladies, and features a gift shop with many unique and vintage treasures. It is incredible to be able to see what our Presidents really looked like and to hear their words as if they came from the very lips of the men themselves.
Hold This Ground Gettysburg Day 1
After 2 years of bloody civil war, General Robert E. Lee , commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, knows the Confederacy and especially Virginia has been depleted of men and supplies and cannot replenish its losses . He moves north in a attempt to supply his hungry army and possibly capture Harrisburg. Lee knows his only hope is to lure the Army of the Potomac into one last decisive battle and destroy it. No one had planed on fighting at Gettysburg before July 1 1863, but that morning 10,000 of Heth's men would approach from the north west on the Chambersburg Pike. General John Buford decided he would stop their progress, and make his stand here ...and so began the bloodiest 3 days in American History
