Ghorakhal Golu Devta Temple - is beautifully situated on the top of Ghorakhal hill overlooking the Sanik School. The one unique ritual about Ghorakhal Mandir is that devotees make petitions at the temple, using stamp papers, to seek desired decree in litigation. On accomplishment of their wish, the deity is shown gratitude by hanging bells or making animal sacrifice.
Shyamkhet Tea Garden - is just 2 km from Ghorakhal Mandir. Tea Garden produces wide range of tea leaves including organic tea which are also exported to the world.
How to reach - From Delhi you can take bus or train to Haldwani , Kathgodam. From Haldwani you can take share taxi to reach Bhowali.

Ghorakal is the place situated in the Nainital district of the Uttarakhand state of India. Ghorakhal means pond for water to horses. It is the picturesque site at the height of more than 2,000 m.
It is situated near Bhowali and is the seat for Army school, known as Sainik School Ghorakhal, established in 1966 at the Ghorakhal Estate of the Nawab of Rampur. The famous Golu Devta temple is situated on a hill above overlooking the school.

Golu Devta or Lord Golu (Garhwali: गोरिल देवता) is the legendary God of the Kumaun and eastern Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state of India and is their deity (predominantly Kumaon). In eastern Garhwal, he is worshipped as Goril Devta.
The Chitai Golu Devta temple is the most celebrated temple dedicated to the deity and is about 4 km (2.5 mi) from the main gate of Binsar wildlife sanctuary & about 10 km (6.2 mi) from Almora.
The other famous temple is located near Bhowali, next to the Sainik School, Ghorakhal.
Golu dev used to travel far distances on his horse and used to meet people of his kingdom, Golu Darbar used to take place and Golu Dev used to hear the problems of the people and help them in any way possible, he had a special place for people in his heart and he was always ready to help them, due to his complete dedication to people, he led a very simple life and lived his life on the principles of brahmacharya.

घोड़ाखाल स्थित यह मंदिर काठगोदाम से 36 किमी. व भवाली से 4 किमी. दूर स्थित है। अभी तक आपने लोगों को मंदिरों में जाकर अपनी मुरादें मांगते देखा होगा, लेकिन उत्तराखंड के अल्मोड़ा और नैनीताल जिले में स्थित गोलू देवता के मंदिर में केवल चिट्ठी भेजने से ही मुराद पूरी हो जाती है।
इतना ही नहीं गोलू देवता लोगों को तुरंत न्याय दिलाने के लिए भी प्रसिद्घ हैं। इस कारण इन्हें न्याय का देवता भी कहा जाता है। नैनीताल जिले के भवाली में स्थित गोलू देवता के मंदिर में चिट्ठियों की भरमार देखने को मिलती है। प्रेम विवाह के लिए युवक-युवती गोलू देवता के मंदिर में जाते हैं। मान्यता है कि यहां जिसका विवाह होता है उसका वैवाहिक जीवन हमेशा खुशियों से भरा रहता है।
गोलू देवता की कहानी
गोलू देवता या भगवान गोलू उत्तराखंड राज्य के कुमाऊं क्षेत्र की प्रसिद्ध पौराणिक देवता हैं। अल्मोड़ा स्थित गोलू देवता का चितई मंदिर बिनसर वन्य जीवन अभयारण्य से चार किमी दूर और अल्मोड़ा से दस किमी दूर है। मूल रूप से गोलू देवता को गौर भैरव (शिव ) के अवतार के रूप में माना जाता है।
कहा जाता है कि वह कत्यूरी के राजा झाल राय और कलिद्रा की बहादुर संतान थे। ऐतिहासिक रूप से गोलू देवता का मूल स्थान चम्पावत में स्वीकार किया गया है।
एक अन्य कहानी के मुताबिक गोलू देवता चंद राजा, बाज बहादुर ( 1638-1678 ) की सेना के एक जनरल थे और किसी युद्ध में वीरता प्रदर्शित करते हुए उनकी मृत्यु हो गई थी। उनके सम्मान में ही अल्मोड़ा में चितई मंदिर की स्थापना की गई।
चमोली में गोलू देवता को कुल देवता के रूप में पूजा जाता है। चमोली में नौ दिन के लिए गोलू देवता की विशेष पूजा की जाती है। इन्हें गौरील देवता के रूप में भी जाना जाता है।
