Silver Star Mountain Resort has tremendous down hill runs, nordic trails, outdoor skating rink, tube town, etc. ( as well as summer activities such as mountain biking and hiking. ( Sovereign Lake Nordic Club has amazing groomed cross-country trails for every skier regardless of skiing ability. ( Silver Star mountain has amazing snowshoe trails for every level of experience. You can even go cliff-jumping (sort of) as seen in this video taken Dec. 2, 2013. :)

Located at the foothills of the Cascade Mountain range in the beautiful Washington State, the ghost town of Sedro Woolley is actually and old abandoned insane asylum, or mental institution, however you want to call it. It is a unique setting with a unique history.

At the turn of the twentieth century, Washington had two other such asylums that were beginning to overflow. So a third was built, this one in Sedro Woolley. At its peak around the 1950s over 2000 patients called the place home. In the video, we will discuss a bit more of the history of the asylum and the treatment of the inmates while touring the grounds of what is a beautiful setting.
These days it looks like quite the hang out for high school kids, with graffiti adorning the buildings and some leftover party materials in some of the old facilities.
Enjoy the trip back in time and a little bit of history of the Ghost Town of Sedro Woolley, Washington.
