Geneva, Switzerland
So here it is, the beautiful Geneva, surrounded by the beautiful Swiss Alps and Jura Mountains. I highly recommend visiting, essentially any part of the year as each season offers different and unique views and activities. Depending on what you will be doing, I think three days is more than enough, as everything is city based and walking distance.
Places to check out when visiting:
Mont Saleve
Lake Geneva
Jet dEau
Broken chair sculpture
Reformation wall
Giant chess board park
Mont Blanc Bridge
Chilling time at Place Neuve Park, Geneva
The park at Place Neuve is situated on the premises of University of Geneva, in the old town. The park is known for the Reformation Wall, a monument in Geneva and the giant chess boards. I had a walk around the park and had lunch sitting on a bench on a rainy afternoon.

Chess legend Korchnoi dies in Switzerland aged 85
Chess grandmaster Viktor Korchnoi, who defected from Russia to the West in 1976, has died in Switzerland aged 85.
Born in 1931 in what is now St Petersburg, Korchnoi survived the siege of Leningrad during World War Two and is seen as one of the best players never to be World Champion.
He was a four-time USSR champion and ranked number one in the world in 1965.
However, he became convinced he had to leave the Soviet Union after being banned from playing internationally.
He played three matches against Soviet rival Anatoly Karpov, losing the 1974 final of the Candidates Tournament - which determines the challenger to play the world champion.
Mr Karpov became world champion in 1975 after the American Bobby Fischer refused to defend his title.
Korchnoi was then allowed by the Soviet authorities to compete internationally again the following year and sought political asylum in the Netherlands after a tournament there.
He later progressed to the World Championship final in 1978 and 1981, but lost to Mr Karpov on both occasions.
Korchnoi continued playing chess well into old age.
He was the oldest active chess grandmaster on the international tournament circuit for many years and won the World Senior Chess Championship in 2006.

My Winter Trip 2014 | Switzerland
Geneva – Vevey – Montreux – Zermatt – Interlaken – Lautterbrunen – Murren – Bern – Lucern
9 cities
5 girls
4 days
1 country
And a whole lot drama
Cool places to go:
Geneve (broken chair, j'et deau fountain, large chess set sculpture)
Vevey ( a giant fork in the middle of the sea, place where milk choc is first produced)
Montreux ( the lake is awesome and there's a castle but we didnt manage to go)
Zermatt (must go place for ski, there is absolutely no car here except electric buses and taxis; swiss pass does not cover taxi)
Bern (capital of swiss and the old town is breathtaking)
lucern (theres a sculpture of a lion in which im lazy enough to write the histrory behind it)
Tips:
- purchase the swiss pass for unlimited transportation.
- if interested to ski or snowboarding at a cheap price, would really recommend Zermatt than Jungfrau especially for beginners. there are many peaks mainly gornegrat and klein matterhorn, choose to ski at gornegrat if you're a beginner. Buy the DAILY PASS as it entitles you to go any peak in matterhorn, a ski pass or snowboarding plus free cable cars and ski lifts up the matterhorn.
- stay in Interlaken as most cities are day trip reachable by train.
