Gilgo is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 131 at the 2010 census. Prior to the 2010 census the area was part of a larger CDP called Gilgo-Oak Beach-Captree, New York. The Gilgo CDP contains several small beach communities on the barrier island along the southern edge of Long Island. In order from west to east, these include West Gilgo , Gilgo Beach, and Cedar Beach . To the east along the beach is the CDP of Oak Beach–Captree, New York.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Gilgo Beach Restoration

This b-roll is of on going work at Gilgo Beach to place more than 1 million cubic yards of sand to help reduce risk from future storm damage. This restoration project beneficially reuses sand from Fire Island Inlet, which is a federal navigation channel. The beneficially used sand will replace sand that was lost during Hurricane Sandy and restore Gilgo Beach and nourish shores westerly. Babylon Overturned Auto w/ Entrapment early 2000's

This accident occurred unknown date in early 2000's. Possibly 2001 or 2002? The incident location was Park Ave & Frederick Ave. Firefighters worked with hurst tool equipment to free a trapped occupant in the overturned auto. Mutual aid was requested from Lindenhurst and West Babylon for ambulances to the scene.

I guess remnants from the storm system off the coast of Long Island. Ocean was churning with no rhythm with the surges pushing you in different directions. Makes for some fun! :) Just always remember to get out before you tire yourself out
