Gion (祇園) is a district of Kyoto, Japan, originally developed in the Sengoku period, in front of Yasaka Shrine (Gion Shrine). The district was built to accommodate the needs of travelers and visitors to the shrine. It eventually evolved to become one of the most exclusive and well-known geisha districts in all of Japan. The term Gion is related to Jetavana.
The geisha in Kyoto do not refer to themselves as geisha; instead, they use the local term geiko. While the term geisha means artist or person of the arts, the more direct term geiko means essentially a woman of art.

Gion is the geisha district of Kyoto, an area with old streets and traditional Japanese wooden houses (machiya). It's absolutely beautiful, and my favourite of the old areas of Kyoto.
Gion is also the area of Kyoto where you have a chance of spotting a geisha. It's where the geisha tea houses and theatres are, where the geisha and maiko live and work. I've heard it's a magical place to explore in the evening and at night time.
Gion is also home to what my guidebook said is the loveliest street in the whole of Asia - Shirakawa-Minami Dori, which you can see in the video.

After Fushimi video I had quickly get down to the station and go to Gion for the next stream. I starter from as soon as got outside of Gion-Shijo station.

祇園 花見小路と舞妓さん : Gion Hanamikoji Street & Maiko-san（Kyoto, Japan）
夜の花見小路と舞妓さんを撮影いたしました。京都を感じられる素晴らしい時間を過ごすことができました。
Hanamikoji Street is one of the north-south streets of Kyoto City. It is the main street that passes through the center of Gion. At Shijo-dori, the atmosphere differs greatly between the north and south. Izakayas（Japanese bar restaurant） are located in the north of Shijo-dori. There are many historical teahouses and restaurants. In 2001, the undergroundization of electric wires and the maintenance of stone pavements were completed, and it was reborn as an emotional townscape.

2019年11月8日、祇園白川で行われました、かにかくに祭を撮影いたしました。祇園をこよなく愛した歌人吉井勇を偲んで祇園の芸舞妓さんが花を供える場面でございます。
On November 8, 2019, the remembrance service was held in Gion Shirakawa.
The recorded scene is where Gion's Geiko place flowers in memory of the poet Isamu Yoshii who loved Gion.

Gion is Kyoto famous geisha district. At night it is beautiful, music, bars, dinning, hotpots and more. There are teahouses Ochaya (teahouse) and where you can see Geiko and Maiko entertainment. There are traditional wooden merchant houses. We walked near a river street called Gion Shirakawa than Hanami-koji street.
