KYOTO TEMPLES AND SHRINES WALKING TOUR - Gion and Higashiyama
A walking tour of some of Kyoto's most beautiful temples and shrines in the Gion District and Higashiyama District. You could do this tour all in one day, but realistically, you should take at least two. We visit Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine, Kenninji Temple, Yasaka Shrine (and Yasaka Pagoda), and then wind through the preserved streets of the Higashiyama District to Kiyomizudera Temple.
These are just a handful of shrines and temples to see in Kyoto. There are so many additional incredible sites and attractions. More videos coming soon.

-------------------------------------------------- This footage was taken at the Gion Matsuri, or Gion Festival, that is taking place in my neighborhood in mid-July. This is not the famous Gion Matsuri of Kyoto, but is the festival at the Gion Shrine here in Kobe. The festival is on the shrine grounds and also on the twisting hillsides that surround it. It's a nice little local festival. You can see a lot of the young girls here wearing jinbei. Watch early release videos and join
[4K] Walking in Kyoto at Yasaka-Shrine and Chion-in temple (colossal gate)
Walking starts at Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Line. Through Yasaka-shrine and Maruyama park arriving at Chion-in.
Yasaka-shrine, once called Gion Shrine, is one of the most famous shrine in Kyoto.
Maruyama Park is next to Yasaka-shrine. It is famous cherry blossom viewing on April.
Chion-in is the headquarters of the Jōdo-shū (Pure Land Sect) founded by Hōnen (1133–1212). The colossal main gate Sanmon and main hall “Mieido” are remarkable.

360 Kobe - Templo Ikuta - Ikuta Shrine. Japón
Viajeros!

JAPAN TRIP- Nara, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Gion (Geisha!) AND Fujinomiya Day 4 & 5 vlog!
Day 5- Exploring Japans original capital city of Nara today where we got to hang out with some very demanding deer! Our second major stop today was the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine located in the south of Kyoto. It is known for its thousands of big (and small) red Torii Gates which span over 4 kilometres. We then spent the evening exploring Gion, also known as the Geisha district. Although it can be packed with tourists trying to catch a glimpse of the Geisha, it is a beautiful place with heaps to do and full of great little places to eat!
DAY 5- This morning we left Kyoto and travelled to a town called Fujinomiya located near the base of Mount Fuji. We spent most of the day on a food tour of the town dressed in traditional kimonos and then found our accomodation for the night, a traditional Japanese inn called a Ryokan.

My Favourite Part of Kyoto | Photography in Japan
Photography in Japan has just been a treat. And on today's vlog we went to my favourite part of Kyoto: Hokanji.
Check out my Japan Photography on IG at @brendanvanson.
Hokanji, in the old town of Kyoto, is one of the best photography locations in all of Japan. There are people wandering around dressed in kimonos which make for great street photos. There is even the occasional Geisha wandering about as well. But, from a travel perspective, there is a great line of Hokanji temple which makes for a beautiful composition.
Photography in Japan is a treat, but in the busy season it's also really, well, busy. During the cherry blossoms there seem to be double the usual crowds, and that does make it a little bit of a challenge. But, it's worth it. The photos of Japan that I've take so far have been among my favourites. It's just been such an amazing country to get the camera out. And, this Hokanji area of Kyoto is one of my favourite spots.
Tomorrow, there's another Japan vlog as we still have a couple days left in Kyoto.
RinaPhie in Japan 1: Off to Kyoto! Visiting Yasaka Shrine & Kiyomizudera.
Hello guys! Thanks for coming back! ^_^
Here's some things you gotta know about this video:
- This video is from spring 2 years ago, when I traveled to Japan with my friend Sophie. I finally got around to editing xD
- Our native language is German, and we both speak English and Japanese as well. But we're still learning, so mistakes are bound to happen. Please don't mind them ;)
- These are just some videos we took while being there with the intention of maybe uploading them, but we're obviously no professional vloggers so the camerawork isn't the best. Hope you can still enjoy! :)
Here's what this video contains:
- us arriving in Shinagawa + introduction
- walking to Gion, Yasaka shrine
- Higashiyama
- Kiyomizudera
- lots of foodgasms from Sophie ;)
There'll be more videos coming up, so please check them out if you're interested! Feel free to comment and ask questions too!
Thanks for watching! ♡

Kyoto Walk - Explore around Gion, Yasaka Shrine (八坂神社 - 祇園のまわり) - 4K
In this video we’ll show you Gion, Yasaka Shrine (八坂神社 - 祇園のまわり), Kyoto.
Yasaka Shrine (八坂神社, Yasaka Jinja), also known as Gion Shrine, is one of the most famous shrines in Kyoto. Founded over 1350 years ago, the shrine is located between the popular Gion District and Higashiyama District, and is often visited by tourists walking between the two districts.
The shrine's main hall combines the honden (inner sanctuary) and haiden (offering hall) into a single building. In front of it stands a dance stage with hundreds of lanterns that get lit in the evenings. Each lantern bears the name of a local business in return for a donation.
