Glow Scuba: UV Diving Koh Tao, Thailand
Visions in Blue, Biofluorescent or UV Night diving on Koh Tao
Visions in Blue won 2 awards in 2013 and 2 in 2014. In Silently, the Short underwater movie festival Belgrade / Nečujno FKPF Beograd it won the Jury Award Best of Best and in the FMISM, Festival Mondial de l'Image Sous-Marine the Dimitri Rebikoff Prize for innovation (Prix Dimitri Rebikoff de l'innovation). 3rd place in the category camera in the Delfin Fest Underwater Film Festival.
UV Night Diving or Fluo Night diving is a mind blowing experience! Equipped with a vizor over our mask and a Blue torch we discovered a completely different world in the waters we have been diving for many years... The bright glowing reef is stunning and when we take a closer look we can see the polyps feed. On the sandy bottom, we discover that Flounders are orange and Devil Scorpionfish shine in pink, purple or red.
To be able to film this natural wonder, we got barrier filters for the camera and video lights from UV Dive Koh Tao. They introduced the Oceans Below staff to this magic!

Discover Scuba in Koh Tao
One of Tim's favorite pastimes is scuba diving, which he shared with Glo on a trip to Ko Samui, Thailand in August 2010. Glo signed up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) course with Easy Divers. DSD is a great introduction to diving. Glo's DSD included a skills test at Big Easy and two dives (at Sail Rock and Shark Island). All locations were off the coast of Koh Tao. DSD divers can dive to a depth of 12 meters. Individuals who complete DSD can credit the course toward a full Open Water dive certification. It really is a whole new, beautiful world under the sea!
Koh Tan - Undiscovered Paradise in Thailand
Koh Tan is located some 20 minutes long tail boat trip off Koh Samui. It is relatively undiscovered and offers much more than expected from fabulous views, snorkeling, bat caves to mangroves.
My family and I had a great time and many thanks to 'Tour Explore' for the excursion - you can look them up on Facebook.

Coral Reefs are made up by tiny animals called polyps. Every polyp has a number of tentacles surrounding its mouth, with which they feed at night.
Shining ultraviolet light during this time shows the magic of the coral fluorescence. Scenes that can't be seen by day show their beauty at night.
The reasons for coral fluorescence is still not yet proven. There are many theories, but the most certain and wishing one is...
... coral health.
I once held a photobook in my hands called
„heaven on earth
and I began to think
where was my personal heaven on earth?
there are so many beautiful places on our planet
but where is my heaven on earth?
what touches me?
what makes my heart run faster than everything else in this world?
well, I've been looking in the wrong places
my heaven on earth is not above earth
it is below
it is the foundation of all life on earth
WATER
in all its facets
here is one of my very favourite shades of the ocean
The glowing corals of the dark

Sunshine Divers Reef Clean Koh Tao Thailand
Recently paradise has been acting as a sieve for ocean trash during the rough weather that we had. Sunshine and Bans Divemasters got together on the baby Sunshine boat and headed to the dive site Lighthouse and Mango Bay. We were greeted by a rather large floating island of refuge. find out more about cleaning up the seas with Project Aware

TREVALLIES at Sailrock, Koh Tao, Thailand
Trevally are mostly plankton feeders. Food seems to be anything locally available whether from a rocky shore or a muddy bottom. In summer trevally form close-packed schools and can be found in depths of anywhere up to 100 metres. At times you can see large schools of trevally breaking the surface when feeding on krill (a small shrimp-like crustacean). If the plankton food source is scarce, they will suck up sediment to sift out worms and other small organisms.

UV Night Dive, Bioflurocent Coral Reef!!! Koh Tao, Thailand
Light emitted by a UV torch rises above the violet energy wavelength and into the non-visible ultraviolet spectrum. Bioflourescence is a natural phenomenon in which special proteins or minerals absorb ultraviolet light and re-emit it at a lower energy wavelength which is visible to the human eye. Countless organisms from fish, sharks, crustaceans, cephalopods, worms, tunicates, annenomies, amphibians, and even chameleons have been observed bioflourescing. With so many examples of parallel evolution, it’s clear it has a purpose; although there is much debate as to what function it serves. This Vide was filmed on Koh Tao, Thailand right off the shore in about 20 fow. With no white light, lack of visibility was worrying, but once I saw the first glowing formations of coral, fear turned to captivation as we explored this marine Avatar esq landscape. On this dive, I saw an elusive golden eel fluorescing as it poked out of its crevice but was too fast to film, too cool! ———————- plz like and subscribe????????????—————————-

KRABI'S BEST SNORKELING TOUR - ROK & HAA ISLAND + RAILAY BEACH | THAILAND
Next stop after Koh Phi Phi was three days in Krabi. First day we got up way too early and headed to Railay beach which we weren't to impressed because the tide wasn't in. But as the day went on it did get more beautiful and I see why everyone raves about it. We checked out Railay East where all the rock climbers are. Then after spending most of the morning there we decided to take a private boat tour to the islands nearby, mostly known as the 4 Island Tour. We paid 1700 baht for 2 persons. Koh Mor & Koh Tup sandbar was our favorite and spent most of our time there.
The next day we booked a snorkeling tour to Rok & Haa Island with a company called Koh Jum Sea Hunter Tour. This was our best day in Thailand so far! I usually don't like taking tours with 30-40 other people but this passed all my expectations. Colorful corral and marine life and the most beautiful beach, Rok island! We paid 5000 baht for 2 persons and although that's a bit pricey, I thought it was worth every penny. Highly recommend!
Thailand Vlog 1 | Koh Tao & Koh Pha Ngan Islands

Fluoro (UV) Night Diving on Koh Tao
Last night was the first time I went out with a video camera to film the fluoro night dive with Ties from UV NIGHT DIVE KOH TAO. Equipped with blue lights, yellow filters, a vizor on our masks, we went to Twins. It is a completely different world down there with the blue lights. With this specialized equipment you experience the spectacular fluorescence of fish and corals. When using a blue light with a specific wavelength and a yellow mask filter you can see certain organisms emitting fluorescent light. Green is definitely the most common color. After a 70 minute dive I came up with some very cool footage. We are already planning our next fluoro dive!

Hidden Treasure, UV night diving, Koh Tao
Short movie on the wonders of UV diving in Koh Tao, Thailand. For those of you who do not know, some corals fluoresce under UV light. With a UV torch and yellow filter to block out the reflecting blue light, the sea glows in a mysterious way. To this day scientists still don't understand why they emit such a different array of colors under UV light, making it quite a unique experience. You get eels that glow bright green, shirmps that have glowing brains, anemones in neon greens and deep reds, the reef really comes to life.
KOH TAO DIVING
Hello Everyone, thank you for watching!
In this weeks vlog we travelled to the backpackers’ paradise of Koh Tao! Smaller and lesser known than the other Thai islands surrounding it, Koh Tao is slowly coming into its own and is a place you should definitely not miss! Koh Tao has become infamous for its scuba diving, and with pristine waters, incredible marine life and rock bottom prices you can see why. Having already qualified as a diver a few years ago it was up to Tom to gain his Open Water. We decided to dive with Roctopus, having qualified with them previously and receiving exceptional service, I was confident that they would not disappoint and they definitely didn’t! Spending 4 days with the Roctopus team you really feel the camaraderie; it is like joining a new family and they accept you gleefully with open arms, couple this with a sense of professionalism and safety and you can see why they have such glowing reviews on Trip Advisor! The whole Open Water course takes 4 days and we both cannot express how much we enjoyed it. If you enjoy swimming, making friends, enjoying yourself or having fun then this is definitely for you! So sit back relax and enjoy Tom conquering his fear of water!
