After our trip to Koh Phi Phi and Maya Bay in Southern Thailand, Jake and Christian re-joined me in Chiang Mai. Together we really wanna do a trek for three days. I spent 2 full days looking for the best quality/price trip we could do without riding elephants but including bamboo rafting.
Tama (our guide and the happiest person on Earth) was an important element and made this jungle trek unforgettable!
Sorry for the poor video quality, I had a poor internet bandwidth. I will change that later.
Hiking to Doi Suthep - Cost of Living in Chiang Mai - Thailand Travel Vlog
Busy one today, our last days in Chiang Mai! We visit the Thai Craftsman district called Sankampaeng the first day and then the next day hike up the mountainside to Doi Suthep temple!
So originally we had planned to just head to the old district, grab a bite to eat and explore the area around Nong Buak Hard Park, but after taking our first Tuk Tuk ride to the park we found out it was closed! They were in the middle of preparing it for an upcoming flower festival that was going to take place. Our Tuk Tuk drive then offered to take us for a tour of the Craftsman village near Bor Sang instead (Which is where we were previously on the umbrella festival video!) . We ended up settling on 200 baht round trip with him also waiting at each location for us, which was a steal of a deal since the Grab one way to the umbrella area was 250 alone. I feel like they might get a cut from the factories they take us to though for bringing people in, either way good for them good for us. After learning and watching how Thai silk was made, checking out all the beautiful ceramics and enjoying ripping around on a Tuk Tuk it was back to Chiang Mai old City!
Travelling by Tuk Tuk was a fun experience and even quite a bit faster than by car as we would pass people on the shoulder constantly and get to the front of every red light skipping the line. Zoom zoom. After arriving back in the city it was an easy Songthaew ride home where we freshened up before heading out to dinner at a Thai barbeque. It was a fun dining experience and pretty tasty too. Pro tip, cook your proteins and flavorful stuff early on to let it flavor the broth faster! By the time we were full the soup was starting to get some delicious flavors.
Then the next morning, it was the cookin' hot hike up to Doi Suthep. There are Songthaew options to the top for honestly cheaper than the Grab was to the base of the mountain but the hike was part of the experience for us. A lot of people probably miss the first pit stop we took on the hike at Wat Pha Lat and it was also so tranquil and relaxing with bridges over the river and all sorts of old architecture. From there it was across the road and onward and upward to Doi Suthep. It must have been on average a 45 degree incline from there on with some spots even steeper but we kept on trekking and eventually made it to the top. You'll even hear when we are at the top a loud squealing where Alysha added question marks in. That happened occasionally when trucks rounded the sharp corner there combined with the hot pavement of the road, scorcher out! We grabbed some lunch at one of the local restaurants there along with an ice cold smoothie to cool us down as well before checking everything else the area had to offer. Doi Suthep sure was a nice viewpoint though and a beautiful way to end Chiang Mai. You can see it from our condo and the mall below normally so this time we could see them from above on the mountain top.
After exploring Doi Suthep and enjoying the view of Chiang Mai we caught a ride back down to our condo in Chiang Mai and started preparing for having to pack up and travel to Bangkok!
Next video we rush off to catch the sleeper train which was a 13 hour overnight (with beds) train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. After getting to Bangkok we check in to our next AirBnB and explore some of the vast city of Bangkok!
Thanks for coming along on the journey with us as always everyone, and we'll see you all next time! Also almost 100 subscribers woohoo! It means so much to us and I imagine by next video we could be there so like and subscribe if you haven't! Thanks again!

MUST THING TO DO CHIANGMAI @ Chiang MaiSunday Market(Walking Street)really comes alive after
The Sunday Market (or Walking Street) is a large market located right in the centre of the old walled city area of Chiang Mai. Starting at the Tha Phae Gate at one end the Sunday Market extends for roughly 1km down the full length of Ratchadamnoen Road. You can go to the Market every Sunday from 4pm till midnight.
Ratchadamnoen Road is always closed to traffic while the Sunday Market is open. This allows shoppers to browse the goods on display, bargain with vendors for a good price and wander freely all around without watching over their shoulder for a motor bike zipping past.
At the Sunday Market you will find lots of tourists and Thai locals all gathered together having a good time looking for bargains. The Sunday Market is growing bigger every year and has now started to spread down many of the side streets off the main road, as well as the big open area around the Tha Phae Gate itself.
Unlike the Night Bazaar which is filled with imitation designer labels, the Sunday Market is a showcase of the art and craftsmanship of the Northern Thai people. Many of the stall vendors make and sell their own products and the quality of craftsmanship is superb. The goods available are made from a wide variety of materials such as silk, paper, fabric, wood, metal, glass, ceramic etc.
The handicraft products displayed are perfect as gifts or beautiful and useful items to decorate your own home. You will also find many vendors selling shoes, jewellery, souvenirs and clothing like 100% cotton eco t-shirts or Thai Silk boxer shorts.
There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and bars in the Market area where you can opt out of the crowd and sit and enjoy a meal or a drink and watch the ebb and flow of shoppers.
The Sunday Market really comes alive after dark when all the street entertainers, musicians, puppeteers, Thai dancers, and bands start to perform; and all the coloured light are turned on. If you get sore feet wandering around, you can have a foot massage for 70THB for 30 minutes.
Not to be missed during your visit to the Sunday Market are two excellent temples. On the main street is Wat Phan Tao and down a side street is the impressive bulk of Wat Chedi Luang. Get there before dark to see them in good light.
The whole place has a very festive nature which makes the Sunday Market a must see thing to do on any visit to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

ANCIENT RUINS in Ayutthaya - Lost in Chiang Mai Day 2
My ex-girlfriend Ning and I were riding up from Phuket to Chiang Mai, with a few stops along the way.
After having visited Nakhon Pathom, we make our way to Ayutthaya to explore the amazing ruins of temples in this ancient former capitol of Thailand. And we saw quite a few dogs. We like dogs.
Nothing can truly emphasize how much our bodies ache right now.
E.8. DOI SUTHEP BY NIGHT- AMAZING VIEWS!
Feb 23 2017. After returning from the waterfall trek, I quickly scrub up and get picked up for my night tour. I wander through Chaing Mai's most beautiful and oldest temples.
Wat Umong which is an impressive network of ancient tunnels, and Doi Suthep. Doi Suthep towers over chain Mai, outside the city borders. Its magnificent golden pagodas overwhelm you, but the view of the city is even more breathtaking.
My time in Chiang Mai has already been amazing, but I heard Pai is a must visit. Check back next time to see what I get up to next.
