GORHAM MOUNTAIN HIKING TRAIL - ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
The Gorham Mountain Hiking Trail in Acadia National Park begins in a parking lot on the right hand side of the park loop road, just beyond Thunder Hole. Trail begins in the far right corner of the parking lot. Trail is moderate, with wild blueberries growing along the way. There are nice views of the ocean, the park loop road, Sand Beach and Egg Rock Lighthouse just to name a few. There are also some nice views of Champlain Mountain and the Bee Hive. The best views are just before the summit.
GORHAM MOUNTAIN SUMMIT TO BEE HIVE TRAIL - ACADIA NATIONAL PARK
This follows the Gorham Mountain Hiking Trail from the summit to the start of the Bee Hive Trail. The views are even better on the decent. From the Bee Hive Trail you can either hike up the Bee Hive itself, head up Champlain Mountain and the Bowl, or come out onto the Park Loop road directly across from the Sand Beach parking lot.
Hiking Ocean Path & Gorham Mountain Trail in Acadia National Park
Afternoon hike from Otter Cliffs down Ocean Path to Sand Beach, then up the Bowl Trail to the summit of Gorham Mountain and looping back to the cliffs. Roughly 4.5 miles and 600 ft. of elevation.

Hiking the Acadia Mountain Trail (and a thick fog)
September is my favorite month for hiking. Summer crowds are gone (for the most part.) It’s cooler, but not too cold at night for tent camping. Time to leave your own backyard and explore some places that you’ve been meaning to visit.
I last visited Acadia NP 5 years ago. Like about 95% of the people who visit there, I drove the Park Loop Road to Cadillac Mt, took some photos, and then drove to Bar Harbor for some seafood. This time I wanted to spend some time there and see what I missed earlier.
This video is of the most direct route to Acadia Mt, the Acadia Mt trail. Not the tallest mountain in the park and not the most popular. It's not accessible from the Park Loop Road but is on the western side of Somes Sound, the less traveled side of Mt Desert Island. The trail leading to the summit encounters some steep rock formations and not the usual boulder field. And when I reached the top, I was treated to some thick fog which occluded views of the Sound. But it added to the beauty of the place. A great early Saturday morning hike!

Beehive & Bowl Trails hike in Acadia National Park
Early October 2017 hike in Acadia National Park on the Beehive and Bowl trails. The hike utilizes iron rungs on parts to scale the side of cliffs with some exposure and great views of Sand Beach, Bar Harbor and the Mount Desert Narrows.

Hiking Beehive Trail - Acadia National Park
Me and my wife Bethany hiking Beehive Trail at Acadia National Park on Mt. Dessert Island in Maine. One of the craziest and most precarious hikes in the U.S. Some might say most dangerous too but it didn't feel that way. Though it did keep you on your toes. Thunder Hole, Acadia National Park, Maine, United States, North America
Thunder Hole is the place in Acadia National Park to experience the thunder of the sea against the rocky shores of Maine! On calm days you may wonder what the fuss is all about. But wait until the waves kick up a few notches. Thunder Hole is a small inlet, naturally carved out of the rocks, where the waves roll into. At the end of this inlet, down low, is a small cavern where, when the rush of the wave arrives, air and water is forced out like a clap of distant thunder. Water may spout as high as 40 feet with a thunderous roar! Hence the name: Thunder Hole. This spot also offers gorgeous panoramic views of Otter Cliff, on the right or south side, Schoodic Peninsula in the far distance, and Sand Beach and Great Head to the left or to the north. Thunder Hole is a great place to stand and watch or sit and relax, taking in the spectacular sights, sounds and smells. One of the pleasant things that greets you upon arrival, depending upon the time of year, is the aroma of wild roses. Right next to the stairs that lead down to the ocean, are large groupings of wild roses or rose hips. Rose hips are a potent source of vitamin C, at least until they become dry or are processed. Note: The Island Explorer Shuttle Bus stops here about every half hour during normal seasonal daytime hours. The last bus leaves at 6:58 P.M. Check their schedule to verify.

Site Scout - Great Head Trail, Acadia National Park
Sorry to disappoint you if the title led you to believe this was about something else. This is the 3rd video in my Site Scout series. My ideas for these videos are evolving as I put each one together. At this point it looks like there's going to be two types of videos; (1) trail guides like this one and (2) single location videos that cover iconic locations.
I still plan to include video clips, but I'm working with materials from past trips. In the future, I'll gather what I need to make more complete videos.
I'm still looking for input if you'd like to leave a (preferably constructive) comment and let me know what you liked, what you didn't like, etc.
