UPDATE: From Gothic/Crested Butte, the hike has a 4000ft elevation gain (reaching 13000ft at one point after starting about 9k in Gothic) and dipping down 1000ft again when you reach Conundrum Hot Springs to make it 3000ft above Gothic.

CORRECTION: Metal Sculptor Sean Guerrero himself wrote in (so cool!) to clarify that the knight/dragon representation is actually OPPOSITE than what I cited at the end of the video. The knight represents the little guy and the dragon is The Man aka the corporate entity.

Lake Irwin is a high alpine lake on the eastern slope of the Ruby Range. The area is home to large meadows of wildflowers, hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing & canoeing. Less than 5 miles away is Kebler Pass, home of one of the largest aspen groves in the United States.

Several waterfalls are located on an unmarked trail near the spillway. As soon as you cross the spillway coming in from the entrance, there is a parking area for 3-4 cars on the left side. Look for a hiking trail there and follow it along the creek for about 5 minutes. After you view the falls, continue on the trail to a second waterfall. A 3rd waterfall is located north of the campground.

Ep. 58: Crested Butte - Part I | Colorado RV travel camping
One of our favorite places in all of Colorado, we head to Crested Butte after first making some emergency repairs to our travel trailer's Fastway Equalizer e2 weight distribution hitch while camping atop Grand Mesa on Colorado's Western Slope. Crested Butte is a genuine restored Colorado mining town deep in the Rocky Mountains with all manner of outdoor recreation available. We find scenic and secluded boondocking high in Washington Gulch, explore the town, and kayak on the high alpine Lake Irwin in Part I of our visit to Crested Butte.
