True to its name, the Sacred Heart Natural Science museum showcases some gory, some pretty parts of natural biology. It has an outstanding taxidermy collection of more than 500 species of animals, birds and insects and a living collection of over 300 exotic orchid species. The museum exhibits artefacts of the ancient Palaiyar tribe’s people whose descendants still live in these hills.
Your visit here will be part creepy, part informative. But it’s worth a peek just to see the photos of solemn priests with huge snakes draped around them.

Sittanavasal Cave is a 2nd-century Jain complex of caves in Sittanavasal village in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu, India. Its name is a distorted form of Sit-tan-na-va-yil, a Tamil word which means the abode of great saints. The monument is a rock-cut monastery or temple.
The Thirumayam Fort is a 40-acre wide fortress in the town of Thirumayam in Pudukkottai-Karaikudi Highway in Pudukkottai District, Tamil Nadu, India. It was constructed by Vijaya Raghunatha Sethupathi, the Raja of Ramnad in 1687. Later the fort was handed over to his brother in law Raghunatha Raya Tondaiman.

Completed museum yet to be opened at Thoothukudi
Aathichanallur has been a site of a number of excavations, with findings dating back to the fourth century. There are a number of puzzling questions related to archaeological findings. Upon the insistence of the local people, it had been decided to preserve the findings at a local museum, which had been completed at an expense of Rs. 22 lakhs. However the museum has not been inaugurated. Further to the request of the locals, the district administration is likely to inaugurate the museum within the next 10 days.
