Kent Rabish had the idea back in 2001 after a vacation to Bend, Oregon to create a craft distillery in Traverse City. After a few years of research, he decided to move forward with his dream and in 2005 Grand Traverse Distillery was born.
Grand Traverse Distillery began producing their first product which was their Rye Vodka – True North Rye in 2007. This high-quality product holds awards in multiple categories on a WORLD stage. Yes, we said World! Shortly after, Grand Traverse Distillery began to work on Whiskey and came out with a very unique 100% Rye Straight Whiskey called Ole George. This Whiskey has gone on to have great success and has also been acknowledged in the world as a top of the line product!
One really amazing aspect of Grand Traverse Distillery and Kent’s vision is that all of the products that are offered from Grand Traverse Distillery are made from 100% Traverse City Agriculture. From our fields to the bottle, Grand Traverse Distillery proudly represents how a true craft distiller and local business supports the other local businesses in their community. They are a Pure Michigan certified product and have 8 tasting rooms all over the state of Michigan.
