Granite Mountain Hot Shot Memorial Yarnell Arizona
While staying in Prescott, Arizona we rented the movie Only The Brave. After watching this excellent show we went in search of the new memorial park.
The hike is steep for sure but it is well worth the walk. Along the way you get to read about each of the fallen fire fighters.
The Park is very well done. The parking is a bit small so be prepared to walk a ways to get there if it is full. I understand that they run some kind of a shuttle out of Yarnell but I know nothing about it.
It is helpful to see the movie before doing the walk so that you can feel the gravity of this site.

Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Yarnell, Arizona
Found the trail on highway 89 South. Parking is limited, restrooms are clean, hand rails for the first part of the trail. remember to take plenty of water and maybe some fruit or jerky. very scenic hike to the ground zero fatality sight. I hiked this on the 1 year anniversery of laying one of my own to rest, so this was an important trip for me. Amazing the people who stop and hike this trail. See you on the banks of heavens rivers.

About:
River Banks Outdoor Adventures RVRBNX
I started River Banks Outdoor Adventures RVRBNX
in 2017 when I went to the Outer Banks in North Carolina surf fishing.
I would send videos ans pictures back to my son Drake. I then started the
YouTube channel to keep the videos together. I made the channel public
and shared it with the family and friends. I enjoy making videos about anything outdoors.
I am no expert and will screw up alot, but, I continue to learn and possibly make
some friends along the way. I love to fly fish, conventional, noodle and surf fish.
Camping, bushcraft, diving, outdoor open pit cooking and any other trouble I can get into!
Live strong and Love stronger! Keep our land clean for our children!

Granite Mountain HotShots Grave site and Memorial Park, The 19
The Yarnell Hill Fire was a wildfire near Yarnell, Arizona, ignited by lightning on June 28, 2013. On June 30, it overran and killed 19 City of Prescott firefighters, members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. It was the deadliest U.S. wildfire since the 1991 East Bay Hills fire, which killed 25 people, and the deadliest wildland fire for U.S. firefighters since the 1933 Griffith Park Fire, which killed 29 impromptu civilian firefighters. It was also the most fatal incident of any kind involving U.S. firefighters since the September 11 attacks, which killed 343. It is the sixth-deadliest American firefighter disaster overall and the deadliest wildfire ever in Arizona.

In 2018 Mike Rowe did a small documentary on his show Returning the favor. The movie Only the Brave is about the incident.

Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park
On June 30, 2013, 19 hotshots died as they battled a wildfire. Arizona State Parks created the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial State Park to honor these fallen heroes.
This is a picture slide show of my recent visit to the park. The sunlight and shadows made it difficult to get good photos of each plaque. I encourage everyone to visit the link below to learn more about each hotshot.
The trail is 7 miles round trip to the fatality site. It is pretty difficult, but worth it. Leave early in the morning and be respectful.
