Hawaii's MOST Scenic Place - Horseback Riding the Waipio Valley Rim ???? (DJi Mavic)
Come with us on a horseback riding adventure on the rim of the Waipio Valley, possibly Hawaii's most scenic spot ! We use Waipio Ridge Stables (link below), a great tour group to lead us around one of the Big Island's most interesting areas. I get plenty of great DJi Mavic drone shots from high above the Waip'io valley (and Hiilawe Falls). We even stop at a smaller waterfall to have lunch where I attempt to dive into freezing cold water. Enjoy the Hawaii Life with us, as the series is almost coming to a close. Be sure to subscribe and leave a comment if you enjoyed the vlog. All of my videos from Hawaii are archived on my Guide to the Big Island 2017 Playlist (below).

64 Foot Wave - Mike Parsons At Jaws Beach, Hawaii
Mike Parsons (born March 13, 1965, in California) is an american professional surfer and surfing coach.
Parsons was raised in Laguna Beach, California and began surfing when he was six-years-old. In 1983, he earned second place in the Junior Division of the United States Surfing Championships.
In 2001, Parsons was towed into a 66-foot wave at Cortes Bank, CA, for which he was awarded $66,000 the highest prize ever awarded in the history of professional surfing. This money was awarded by the Billabong XXL competition which paid tribute to the biggest waves ridden each year. Parsons also surfed a 64-foot wave during competition at the Jaws break on the north shore of Maui. It was filmed by helicopter and used as the opening scene of the 2003 film Billabong Odyssey. A usually uncredited clip of this sequence has gone on to become a viral video, attributed to a number of different surfers, locations, and in many cases, a Tsunami.
Parsons later broke his record on January 5, 2008, at Cortes Bank, when he was photographed surfing a wave that the Billabong XXL judged to be 77 feet, which put him in the Guinness Book of World Records, officially, for biggest wave ever surfed. Nearly 4 years later Garrett McNamara improved on this record with a 78-foot wave off Nazaré, Portugal on November 1, 2011.
In 2011, Parsons became the full-time coach for surfer Kolohe Andino.
On January 20, 2013, Parsons suffered a broken C7 vertebra in his neck and nearly drowned while surfing triple-overhead surf at Ocean Beach, a beach break in San Francisco, California. Parsons was able to return to surfing four months later.
Parsons was inducted into the Surfer's Hall of Fame in Huntington Beach, California in 2008.

The Palm Island, Dubai UAE - Megastructure Development
An awe-inspiring engineering feat, Dubai Palm Islands is definitely the largest artificial islands on earth. These Islands are three man made islands in the form of massive palm trees connected to the beaches of Dubai. The first island is the Palm Jumeirah, Jebel Ali Palm second and the third is the Palm Deira which is the biggest of them all. This artificial archipelago located off the coastline of United Arab Emirates in Persian Gulf.
Dubai islands project was commissioned by Sheikh Mohammed in an effort to maximize beachfront property. Dubai's palm tree-shaped resort island on land built from the sea will contribute 120 km of beaches. Aside from the construction of the ambitious expansion, there is also the problem of constructing a mini city, which consists of 4,500 high-end residential homes, miles of roads, luxurious hotels and many amenities that will require basic human resources including electricity, safe drinking water and many more. This enormous project will position Dubai as one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
I will tell you why these islands have appeared and that they must satisfy. Dubai is an emirate that open sea about 50 km (an estimate) and the sites required for building projects are on the beach. To view course and especially to park in front of the yacht's property or even assembly.
Well when the beach was not available, and demand persists, the beach had invented. And it appeared artificial islands. Hence so sophisticated forms of the islands: they had to provide a larger opening to the ocean.
This new concept quickly caught on. 'Only a' product 'high-end, the latest wrinkle in the most creative developers metropolis. A new source of land, location of the trick of the planet Earth! The job went, the two islands were settled immediately, with mixed development, spectacular, exorbitant, and finally in Dubai's specific style ... In parallel to the World archipelago started building and other projects are still on the drawing board Nakheel, developer. But crisis compels us to winter a little ...
Where is the dream of similar islands: In Lebanon, wants to build a cedar shaped islands, the symbol of this country. Russia wants to try an island / an archipelago in Black in Sochi at the 2014 Olympics, at least that is speaking through the past years. Also in Japan there are several large airports built on artificial islands.
The Palm Islands are artificial peninsulas constructed of sand dredged from the bottom of the Persian Gulf by the Belgian company Jan De Nul and the Dutch company Van Oord.
The sand is sprayed by the dredging ships, which are guided by DGPS, onto the required area in a process known as rain-bowing because of the arcs in the air when the sand is sprayed. The outer edge of each Palm's encircling crescent is a large rock breakwater. The breakwater of the Palm Jumeirah has over seven million tons of rock.
The Palm Islands are an artificial archipelago (islands) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Major commercial and residential infrastructures will be constructed by Nakheel Properties, a property developer in The UAE. The Belgian and Dutch dredging and marine contractors, Jan De Nul and Van Oord, some of the world's specialists in land reclamation, were hired to complete construction. The islands are the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm Jebel Ali and the Palm Deira.
Each settlement will be in the shape of a palm tree, topped with a crescent. The settlements will have a large number of residential, leisure and entertainment centers. The Palm Islands are located off the coast of The UAE in the Persian Gulf and will add 520 kilometers of beaches to the city of Dubai.
The first two islands will comprise of approximately 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand. The Palm Deira will be composed of approximately one billion cubic meters of rock and sand. All materials will be quarried in The UAE. Among the three islands, there will be over 100 luxury hotels, exclusive residential beach side villas and apartments, marinas, water theme parks, restaurants, shopping malls, sports facilities and health spas.
The creation of the Palm Jumeirah began in June 2001. Shortly after, the Palm Jebel Ali was announced and reclamation work began. The Palm Deira is planned to have a surface area of 46.35 square kilometers and was announced for development in October 2004.

Hawaii - Snorkeling with Turtles, Pearl Harbor, Turtle Bay Resort, Kauai Helicopter Ride
Our trip to Hawaii starting in Oahu with Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona (0:16), and a two days at Turtle Bay Resort (0:52).
Then we traveled to the north coast of Kauai (2:13) including Tunnels beach, Ke'e Beach, and snorkeling with turtles at Anini Beach (3:36). We also snorkeled at Poipu Beach (4:09) and finished our trip with an awesome helicopter tour (5:00) which landed at the Jurassic Park Falls and also did several amazing flybys over the Na Pali Coast. I would recommend them for the Jurrasic Falls Tour!

TOP TRAVEL TIPS:
*We got the top floor room at Turtle Bay because we got there very early (around noon) and we were only staying one night. They wanted to accommodate, so they gave us the only room that was ready, which happened to be one of the largest and on the top floor.
*The locals told us turtles are guaranteed when snorkeling at Anini Beach on Kauai, where we saw several Turtles.
*The most beautiful beach in Kauai (or possibly in all of Hawaii) was Ke'e Beach as it's right by the Na Pali Coast. It's only swimmable in summer though because of the dangerous winter currents.
*Island Helicopter Tours are the only ones who land anywhere, so it's worth the additional $70-$90 to land and for the longer experience (90 minutes long). The landing was amazing, and a helicopter tour without it would not have felt complete.
*Make sure to wear black for the helicopter tour, as the reflection will be reduced.

O'ahu is the third largest island in the Hawaiian archipelago and the most populous island in the state of Hawaii. It covers an area of 1,545.34 km2, including Ford Island and the islands of Kaneohe Bay and the east coast. It has 336 kilometers of coast1.
The island was formed under the joint action of volcano Wai'anae and Ko'olau, leaving a large valley between the two. The highest peak is Mount Ka'ala which rises to 1,215 meters above sea level.
The island is home to nearly one million people, or about 75% of the population of the state of Hawaii. Partly because of this, O'ahu was nicknamed The Gathering Place.
The capital of the State of Hawaii, Honolulu, is situated on the south coast of the island, as is the port of Pearl Harbor, which was attacked by Japan on December 7, 1941. United States during the Second World War.

Kahalu'u Bay, Surfing, Snorkling, Foilboard, Kona Hawaii, Coastline, 4K Drone Footage
Kahaluʻu Bay (/ˌkɑːhəˈluːʔuː/; Hawaiian pronunciation: [ˈkɐhɐˈluʔu]) is a historic district and popular recreation area on the Kona coast of the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
Early history
This area has been populated for about 500 years, and in the 18th and 19th centuries was an important royal residence.[2] One major feature is Pa o ka menehune (which means literally wall of the ancients[3]), a breakwater constructed in Ancient Hawaii that might have once enclosed the entire bay. Since construction of a heiau using the dry-stack masonry technique (uhau humu pohaku) was a major undertaking, it is unusual to find the concentration of about ten that were built on this bay.[citation needed]
The Kuʻemanu Heiau is on the north end of the bay. This was used by royalty to view surfing and as a residence.[4] Nearby the Keawaiki canoe landing site is popular today with local surfers.
Two ancient fishponds called Waikuaʻala and Poʻo Hawaiʻi are still visible. Royal Governor John Adams Kuakini had a thatched roof house, and King David Kalākaua built a beach house in this area which has been reconstructed. South of the bay is Hāpaialiʻi Heiau, associated with astrological observation, built between 1411 and 1465 and restored in 2007.[5] The Keʻeku Heiau was used for human sacrifice (luakini) and Kapuanoni Heiau were also built just south of the bay. Petroglyphs thought to depict the defeat of Kamalalawalu of Maui by Lonoikamakahiki can be viewed at low tide near the temples. Several kuʻula (sacred stones, said to have been brought from Maui) were monuments to the plentiful fish and Green turtles that are still found in the bay.
More recent history
Across Aliʻi Drive from the bay are the stone ruins of the original Helani Church built in 1861 by Rev. John D. Paris. It was built on the ruins of the ʻOhiʻamukumuku Heiau. As the population moved inland, a new Helani Church was constructed at a higher elevation still used by the congregation today.[6]
On the grounds of a former Kahuna's house, a Catholic church officially called Saint Peter's by the Sea was built in 1880 on Laʻaloa bay, and then moved to its present location in 1912, run by the Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Parish. It is commonly known as the little blue church, and is used as a landmark for canoe races.[7]
In 1970, the Keauhou Beach Hotel was built on the point South of the bay. The hotel was bought in 1987 for $13M by the Azabu Building Company, headed by Japanese businessman Kitaro Watanabe. Plans were to enlarge it and build a larger resort combined with the Kona Lagoon Hotel (built in 1975), and more facilities across the street, to be called the Azabu Kona Beach Resort.[8] There was also a botanical park called Kona Gardens on the uphill (mauka) side of the street. However, the investors suffered financial problems in the 1990s. The other properties were abandoned, reverting to the holder of the lease in 1995, the investment arm of Kamehameha Schools, which eventually also bought the remaining hotel. In June 1996, three of the executives were arrested in Tokyo, suspected of concealing assets from creditors.[9] In 1997, the hotel was sold again to Trinity Investments from Chicago. [10] The 462-room Kona Lagoon Hotel, closed since 1988, had fallen into disrepair.[11] Local people said the project was cursed because of all the sacred sites in the area, and it was torn down in 2004, with long-term plans to restore the historic sites.[12] In 2012, Kamehameha Schools announced plans to close and eventually demolish the Keauhou Beach Hotel, and to build a cultural and educational complex on the site. The hotel closed in October 2012. As of August 2014, demolition is planned for fall 2015.[13]
The Kalahuu Bay District was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 27, 1974.[1]Island by extenz |

Hawaii's Cattle Ranchers | The Production Cycle
THE PRODUCTION CYCLE
There's nothing like raising cattle in Hawaii. There are ranches and grazing lands on nearly all of the islands. And, for the men and women who care for their animals and their land each day, their job is filled with challenges and rewards. Hawaii's landscape and climate is incredibly varied. And, that variety directly impacts how they care for cows, raise calves and manage the state’s natural resources.

Aloha hui!
Today is the second episode of Braddahs On Da Trail, and we put the poles down in exchange for getting on some ATV! Thanks to Beau (Big Toe) we were invited to join a mission to ride ATV around the Waipio Valley Rim, here on the Big Island! Waipio Valley has been the center of Hawaiian Culture for hundreds of years, and we get an awesome chance to view Waipio from some amazing lookouts. After hitting that muddy off-road trail we make our way to the stream that feeds Hi’ilawe falls, which was an amazing spot, and the second largest waterfall on the Big Island of Hawaii. We got to hit up the store to get some Waipio poi, which is one of the best poi anywhere on the Big Island. Following that hit the ATV again and go to a few more spots and gain some unreal Hawaiian Cultural insight into the Valley, and the people, that have been there for so long, gaining another epic view of Waipio Valley and Hi’ilawe Falls. The Kalo fields are looking ripe down in Waipio Valley!

Globe Trekker Series 17 - Hawaii II Trailer
Interested in more information? Follow this link to find out everything you need to know!
Hawaii – sacred kingdom of Polynesians and America’s sunny 50th state. It is the quintessential destination for paradise-seeking honeymooners from all over the world. No other group of islands on earth fascinates the common traveller more than this lush archipelago of volcanic isles placed so beautifully in the Pacific.
Hawaii Hibiscus
With this in mind, Globe trekker Zoe D’Amato sets out on a grand adventure to explore 4 of Hawaii’s mounds of beauty – Big Island, Maui, Oahu and Kauai. On Big Island, she treks to the fiery crater of the Kilauea shield volcano and unearths petro glyphs commemorating the newborns of a Polynesian community that once thrived in the foothills of a wondrous lava landscape. Zoe samples Hawaii’s world famous Kona coffee and recounts the fate of the great Captain James Cook, who shored up in Kealakekua Bay, only to meet his end at the hands of a superstitious clan who had once deemed him a god.
Hawaii Volcanoes NP 3
Zoe gets a ukulele lesson from Rick and then heads off to the old whaling island of Maui – holiday Mecca for the newly married lured by its sandy beaches and sapphire sea. Zoe has an obligatory swim and samples the local sugar cane juice. She takes a short flight to Oahu, to Honolulu and Waikiki beach, where she checks in at the Moana Surfrider Hotel, a renowned haven for America’s early socialites who first experienced the vacationing pleasures of Hawaii. Zoe visits Iolani Palace – the grand mansion of Hawaii’s ‘Merrie monarch’, who impressed the islanders with his love of European sophistication. She tries some classic island cocktails, the local food and has a paddle with the hotel staff on a Polynesian outrigger built in the same vein as the old sail boats that first crossed the Pacific Ocean. Zoe visits Mele, a Polynesian artist who illustrates to Zoe the bird feather capes once worn by Hawaii’s great Polynesian kings.
Kauai 3
And it’s on to her final journey; Zoe travels to Kauai, the “emerald isle”. She takes a helicopter flight over verdant valleys, tumbling canyons and waterfalls to best experience the natural beauty of this truly gorgeous island. She then drives to a botanical garden that still harvests the first foods brought over by Polynesian seafarers 1700 years ago and ventures to buy some local sea shell jewellery. She ends her journey kayaking the Walua river, a sacred burial ground of Polynesian kings and the landmark film location where Indiana Jones first made his name.
