Antigua Travel Guide , Blue See Tour, Bird Island, Marrella, Tui, Thompson, 2018
Antiqua, Blue See Tour, Bird Island, Marrella, Tui, Thompson, Caribbean Cruise, 2018
Just 3 hours from Miami and 8 from London is Antigua, the largest island in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. Antigua’s capital is St. John’s, a port town of plantation shutters, iron roofs and colors as bright as our spirit. Mix up a little history and shopping down by the city’s quays, where old shop houses have been given new life as cafes, bars and duty-free boutiques. Take a break from the noonday sun in the shade of the old Courthouse, now the home of the national museum. Then, spend a lazy afternoon walking the ramparts of the harbor’s fortifications. Just to the north of St. John’s, you’ll find Runaway Beach and Dickenson Bay, home to some of the purest sands and finest resorts in the West Indies. On the island’s eastern side, visit the historic sugar plantation, Betty’s Hope. A few miles east, feel the power of nature at Devil’s Bridge, a natural arch carved by Atlantic waves. Let the breeze carry you further around the Island, to beauty spots like Half Moon Bay and Mamora Bay, then drop anchor for a while at English Harbor. From English Harbor back to St. John’s, it’s just one perfect beach after another. Some say there are 365 beaches in Antigua, one for each day of the year. But you won’t see them all, don’t even try. Just take it easy, because the slower you move, the better you’ll feel and Antigua is all about feeling good.

Antigua: Day 5
Today we went on an ecological tour aboard the Adventure Antigua. The eight hour tour featured historical landmarks and islands. We visited St. John island to pick up some passengers and then on to Bird Mountain. Bird Mountain is the nesting grounds for Frigate birds in the Caribbean. After hiking to the top, our guide told us about the surrounding sea and other animals on the mountain. Then it was on to Hell's Gate, a natural bridge in a mountain formed by waves from the Atlantic. After a sumptuous lunch, the students went snorkeling and swimming in the Atlantic. It was an exhausting, yet fun day.
Tomorrow, we tour The American University of Antigua and St. John, the capital of Antigua for another scavenger hunt.

Antigua - Great Bird Island
A Day in Antigua ~ Join us as we leave the cruise port and travel around the island.
Antigua has a beautiful port with a lot of shops and many locals offering tours of the island.
Cruise passengers disembark into beautiful Heritage Quay, which has shops and a tourist office, and then straight into St John’s, a small bustling Caribbean town. Redcliffe Quay is nearby with more shops and restaurants.
Antigua is a beautiful island in the West Indies (West Indies is what will show up on your phone as your location while visiting) and is one of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean.
Locals claim there are 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. No one knows for sure if this is true but it makes for a great marketing.
The best way to see the island is to take a tour
The cost of the our tour of the island (about 6 hours) was $20. Yep, we had an amazing day for only $20 plus a nice tip for our driver who made this one of the best excursions ever.

Hell's Gate, Antigua and Barbuda
Devil's Bridge is a natural rock arch in eastern Antigua. It is located on the Atlantic coast at 17°6′1.7″N 61°40′42.2″W, near Indian Town Point to the east of Willikies. The area around the arch features several natural blowholes which shoot up water and spray powered by waves from the Atlantic Ocean.
Hell's Gate is a small island located in North Sound quite close to Great Bird Island, Antigua.
