4K City Walks: Denver, Colorado Cherry Creek Area - Virtual Walk Treadmill City guide
The video 4K City Walks: Denver, Colorado Cherry Creek Area - Virtual Walk Treadmill City guide beginner Treadmill workout Video is a free tour around the large park on the southern side of the city between downtown and Denver University. I filmed using my new GoPro8 but this was the first time I used it and had some issues with the Horizons. Sorry about that. We walk starting out in the little commercial area with a few shops, restuarants, bars, and even a marijuana dispensary. We make our way through a residential area and into the park itself where many people are out being active. We walk past the pond and boat house and then back towards the little neighborhood bars and shops. I hope you enjoy this late afternoon fall walk through Denver's Washington Park Neighborhood.

Lucy and I took a little hike today outside of Golden. The sky is a bit foggy because of the fires burning on the west coast. I do not own this song, but all the video was record by me on a SJ4000 and edited with OpenShot.
David in the Wilderness with the Buffalo
Many of the peoples who were here before the Europeans, used these huge animals for food and other products. The hides became clothing and material for tents. The horns became arrow points, cups, spoons, ladles and more. The fat was used for candles and soap. The hair was used to stuff pillows. The gall was used in paints, the teeth for bead, the tendons for bowstrings and even the hooves were turned into glue.
Cortez wrote the first European report concerting the Buffalo. He described one he saw at Montezuma's court in Anauac as Mexican Bull; a wonderful composition of divers animals. It has crooked shoulders, with a bunch on its back like a camel; its flanks dry, its tail large, and its neck covered with hair like a lion. It is cloven footed, its head armed like that of a bull, which it resembles in fierceness, with no less strength and agility.
These creatures seemed to have once roamed over about a third of North America in huge numbers. Until the mid 1800's the Europeans utilized the Buffalo very much as
the people who were there before them - as food, as material for clothing, for other leather products, and so on. By the mid 1800's the buffalo were sometimes a danger to the wagon trains going west, and on occasion as the railroads came into being, they even derailed a train.
Then came the great American Civil War.The slavery of people of African descent had come to an end, except that it was followed by an era of virtual serfdom through the
share-croping system. Most of the Indian states east of the Mississippi River had joined with the Confederate States and so 25 USC Section 72 abrogated all treaties the United States had formerly with these peoples and they were forcibly removed to Indian Territory.
The US Army was deployed throughout the former Confederacy. The commanders in the various districts had total authority over the local governments and the great American
experiment with centralized authority and centralized planning began.
The industrialized areas needed belts for their machines. Leather
from buffalo was the answer. There was a need for foreign exchange -
buffalo hides were sold to Europe. The litany goes on. Soon there
were huge pressures on the buffalo herds and the herds began to decline
in numbers.
In congress, Republican Rep. Greenburg from Illinois proposed a bill
in 1874 that would have made it, unlawful for any person who is not
an Indian to kill, wound, or in any manner destroy any female buffalo,
of any age, found at large within the boundaries of any of the
Territories of the United States. The bill passed both houses of
Congress but President Grover Cleveland vetoed the law.
The next year, the Texas Legislature was discussing a similar bill
to regulate hunting and protect the buffalo in Texas. General Phillip
Sheridan, the butcher of Shenandoah, was the military commander
over Texas at that moment. Sheridan rose to speak
These men have done more in the last two years, and will do more in
the next year, to settle the vexed Indian question, than the entire
regular army has done in the last forty years. They are destroying the
Indians' commissary. And it is a well known fact that an army losing
its base of supplies is placed at a great disadvantage. Send them
powder and lead, if you will; but for a lasting peace, let them kill,
skin, and sell until the buffaloes are exterminated. Then your
prairies can be covered with speckled cattle:
Autocratic central planning from a government unresponsive to the
people in the areas being affected led to disaster.
Under pressure from the people in Texas and Louisiana who deeply
resented Sheridans bloodthirsty ways, President Andrew Johnson relieved
Sheridan of his command but sent him west to fight indians. Sheridan
had support of the Secretary of the Interior and their policy nearly
led to the extinction of the great American buffalo.
Blessedly, Sheridan died in 1888. in 1894, the Lacey Act was signed
into law, prohibiting the killing of any wildlife in federal preserves.
The buffalo were saved from extinction and today The American bison
which once was found in most of Canada, the United States and parts
of Mexico can be found in many wildlife reguges in the US and Canada as well
as on numerous private ranches throughout North America.
Today there are again over half a million of these wonderful beasts
mostly on the private rancches.
The meat is healthier food for humans than beef from domesticated
cattle and the growing demand suggests that more and more ranchers
will begin raising these magnificent animals. Between the natural
refuge system and the economic value these creatures have, their
future now seems assured.

My first time getting all bent out of shape on a chase and getting unintentionally cored by a supercell that at times was tornado warned. Reports of an NWS unconfirmed cone tornado in open country were reported during and right after this a mile or two to my east. Great learning experience as a new to the plains chaser.
