Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 165 Networker Turbo Ride: London Paddington to Kintbury - 03/05/19
Video: Riding from London Paddington to Kintbury onboard a Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 165 Networker Turbo / Network Turbo unit working a service bound for Bedwyn. This was non stop between London and Reading, but the slowest type of non stop as the GWR Turbos only reach 90 mph.
Initially, I had no intention of recording this, but then I noticed that the engine sounds weren't being drowned out by the usual air con unit or cooling fan sound that you hear a lot on Turbos, thus making this one of the best Networker Turbo rides I've done.

Final Day of Great Western Railway (GWR) HSTs / Intercity 125s Services From London - 18/05/19
Video: A compilation of the final four Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 43 HST / Intercity 125 sets out and about the Great Western Main Line, on their final day of long distance intercity services out of London.
All clips were filmed from various locations on the east end of the main line between Reading and London Paddington, these include London Paddington, Reading, Iver, West Drayton and Ealing Broadway stations. I made sure I was down at Paddington for the final four meet up on platforms 1 to 4, but it was extremely busy with enthusiasts, GWR employees and members of the public wanting there final shots of the trains, so apologies for some very shaky footage, but this was one of those moments I couldn't miss and will forever give good memorable footage.
NOTE - The Great Malvern service seemingly only made it to Worcester Shrub Hill due a late inbound arrival.
The only remaining GWR HSTs as of uploading are a handful of short 'Castle' sets operating in Cornwall, Devon and South Wales, most sets have gone into storage with no immediate planned futures, though a few have gone to ScotRail of course on their Inter7City services and one or two on hire to Hull Trains.
This truly marked the beginning of the end of an era with the HSTs, as it is important to note that the Great Western services had the largest fleet of Intercity 125s out of any other main line.

GWR | Great Western Railway First Class Train Bristol Paddington London Trip Report Blond Reports
Hi everyone. It was my first time travelling with Great Western Railway. I picked First Class ticket since price difference was only 13 pounds. Overall it was a great trip in a clean cabin with few passengers travelling along the way. Trip took about 1h 20min from Bristol to London Paddington. Snack options could have been improved by adding more fresh fruits and by improving quality of the coffee. Other than that -it was a pleasant trip and if price is reasonable-I totally recommend.

Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 180 Adelante Ride: London Paddington to Slough and Back - 08/12/16
Video: On the week before the winter timetables/diagrams came into action, I decided to get a few onboard train journeys filmed on the Great Western Main Line before the end of the year. First I got on two Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 180 Adelantes between London Paddington and Slough then back, the one heading back to London (180108) was a bit delayed so I was able to catch it on the opposite platform. Both trains were very busy as it was the peak rush hour. As usual an awesome thrash of the diesel engines when the train was accelerating towards 125mph. The first train I got on was bound for Great Malvern, and the second was from Oxford to Paddington.

Steam Engines Of The Great Western Railway (G.W.R.)
This programme takes a look at some of the thousands of steam engines operated by the G.W.R until nationalisation in 1948. The G.W.R arguably produced many of the finest locos ever built, and many are preserved. The programme includes the prolific Hall Class, featuring Raveningham Hall and Owsden Hall, the Castle Class, Nunney Castle, and several preserved examples of the Manor Class. Steam locos from the Severn Valley, West Somerset, and the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railways, as well as the main line are all included in this programme.

Video: The return journey back to London Paddington from Hayes & Harlington onboard a Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 387 Electrostar. This journey was much better than the first as I had the whole back carriage to myself, so I did a small walkthrough at the end.

UK Trains - We Try The GWR Train Service From South Wales To London, Paddington
What is the intercity train service in the UK like. If you are visiting the UK you should definitely try and get out of London and see the rest of Britain. One of the easiest ways if you do not want to drive is to take the train.
We try the GWR (Great Western Railways) Service which runs between London Paddington to Wales and the South West. On this trip we are returning by train from Bridgend, South Wales to London.
The journey time is about 2 hours 25 minutes.
UK trains do not have a very good reputation, they can often be overcrowded and very expensive, just ask the commuters. However if you book in advance and avoid the peak periods you can get some reasonable fairs.
There are a number of websites where you can book your train tickets online, often it is cheaper to buy two singles instead of a return ticket.
It is not advisable to turn up at a station on a Friday afternoon or early on a Monday without an advance ticket. This can prove to be very expensive.
To be honest we thought this video would show how bad the train service is, but our trains were new, they were clean with plenty of seats available and more importantly, they were on time.
So when you next visit the UK, we would recommend trying the trains. Come and visit Wales.
UK Trains was filmed on the iPhone, people get funny when I get the big camera out. #trains #gwr

UK: Great Western Railway (GWR) HSTs (InterCity 125) at Reading station
Two clips showing Great Western Railway (GWR) HSTs (InterCity 125) at Reading station.
These magnificent stalwarts are now in the twilight of their careers on the Great Western Mainline and are due to be removed from scheduled passenger services on 18th May 2019.
A bonus onboard clip showing the 1403 London Paddington to Penzance departing from Paddington is included from 2:10.
All clips recorded 27th April 2019.
Clip 1 - 43162 (Front) & 43194 (Rear) working 1C77, the 1003 London Paddington to Penzance departs from Reading station.
Clip 2 (1:20) - 43185 (Front) & 43092 (Rear) 1C85, 1403 London Paddington to Penzance departs from Reading station. In 2016 GWR HST Power Car 43185 was vinyl wrapped into original 1988 Intercity Swallow livery - making its first public appearance at an HST 40 event at the NRM (along with 43002).

The British Rail Class 43 (HST) is the TOPS classification used for the InterCity 125 High Speed Train (formerly classes 253 and 254) power cars, built by British Rail Engineering Limited from 1975 to 1982.
The class is officially the fastest diesel locomotive in the world, with an absolute maximum speed of 148 mph (238 km/h), and a regular service speed of 125 mph (201 km/h).
The 197 power cars produced are numbered 43002-43198. 43001 was applied to the second of the two prototype power cars, while the first of the pair (now preserved and operational at the Great Central Railway (Nottingham)) became 43000, which is unusual because BR TOPS classification numbered its locomotives from 001 upwards (this was because it was not, at the time, classified as a locomotive).
During the late 1990s twenty-five HST power cars were re-engined with Paxman 12VP185L engines in order to improve fuel consumption and reduce emissions.
The very last VP185 engine to be manufactured at Paxman's Colchester Works was despatched from the factory on 15 September 2003 as part of a program to convert 14 Midland Mainline power cars to VP185 engines to supplement the four already converted during 1994/95, and this led to 43043/045/048-050/052/055/060/061/072/073/076/082 joining 43047/059/074/075 with this engine type.

Paddington, also known as London Paddington, is a Central London railway terminus and London Underground station complex, located on Praed Street in the Paddington area. The site has been the London terminus of services provided by the Great Western Railway and its successors since 1838. Much of the main line station dates from 1854 and was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
Paddington is the London terminus of the Great Western main line, operated today by Great Western Railway, which provides the majority of commuter and regional passenger services to west London and the Thames Valley region as well as long-distance intercity services to South West England and South Wales. It is also the terminus for the Heathrow Express and TfL Rail services to and from Heathrow Airport. It is one of 11 London stations managed directly by Network Rail.

First Great Western is a British train operating company owned by FirstGroup. It provides the majority of commuter and outer-suburban services from its Central London terminus at London Paddington to West London and the Thames Valley region including Berkshire, parts of Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire along with long-distance inter-city services via the Great Western Main Line to South West England and South Wales.
First Great Western uses its large fleet of 58 HST InterCity 125 sets (seven or eight Mk III coaches between two Class 43 locomotives) to operate most long-distance services.

GWR : The Great Western Railway from Bristol to London DVD
This is an excerpt of a DVD produced by 1st Take. The complete film is available to order at 1st-take.com or by calling 01454 321614.
This is the dramatic story of how and why the Bristol to
London section of the Great Western Railway was built. It
was nicknamed 'Brunel's billiard table' after its Chief Engineer. Brunel's intention for the GWR to be 'the best of all possiblerailways' is given credence in that trains now travel on much the same route at 125 mph.
The GWR was the world's first railway designed for high speed passenger travel, and it was adorned with masterpieces such as Hanwell Viaduct, Maidenhead Bridge, Box Tunnel and the stations at Paddington and Temple Meads. A visit to the Didcot Railway Centre provided the opportunity to film Firefly, a painstakingly created replica of the first locomotive designed by
Daniel Gooch for the GWR in 1840. Particular attention is given to the broad gauge controversy, development of Swindon Works and the surrounding railway village, and you will also realise the impact that the GWR had on Bath, courtesy of a superb account by local author Andrew Swift.
This feature-length documentary, written and presented by
former railway civil engineer Mike Beale, is enhanced by
fascinating archive footage and illustrations, and modern
location film of many of the route's landmarks today, as well as the revelation of some of the GWR's hidden history. Among the highlights is a series of interviews with drivers, firemen and signalmen who worked on the line, some as far back as the 1930s, and a contribution from Britain's leading railway commentator, Christian Wolmar. Consequently, this is arguably
the most comprehensive DVD ever produced on this section of 'God's Wonderful Railway'.

Great Western Railway (GWR) Class 387 Ride: London Paddington to Hayes & Harlington - 08/12/16
Video: My first journey on these new Class 387 Electrostars for Great Western Railway from London Paddington to Hayes & Harlington. These are probably the smartest looking Electrostars (particularly the livery) in my opinion, a fresh take on what can seem quite repetitive on Thameslink, Southern, Southeastern and even c2c, although my personal favourite is the 379s. Although, the the PA announcement seems comically dull. Getting on one of these was long overdue, every time I went to Paddington the trains would be either cancelled or changed to Thames Turbos. As of now in 2017, GWR have started a more frequent half hourly service with them between Hayes and Paddington, then they will run to Maidenhead in summer.

*Brand New* Refurbished Great Western Railway, GWR HST!
This video is property of Train_PlaneHub, RachaelMatt
1080p HD!
On Thursday 24th September a case of being in the right place at the right time lead us to catch our first look and ride upon the first ever refurbished GWR HST set! After hearing that it was operating the 10:00 from Paddington to Paignton via Bristol we slightly altered our plans to get a ride on it. At the time of filming this was the only refurbished out, so it was very unique and certainly turned a few heads at Reading and Bristol! Personally I think the new livery looks great and nice to see the Great Western railway returning to Green. The days of the blue & pink FGW sets are now numbered!
Look out for more of these beautiful GWR sets out & about in the future!
Leave me a comment, what do you think of the new GWR rebrand?
