POTTER HOUSE 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms in the main home, plus two other separate studio cabins
3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms in the main home, plus two other separate studio cabins.
Perfectly situated on the Arkansas River, this authentic Southwestern Style Adobe Home has Fantastic views of the River and Wilderness beyond. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms in the main home, plus two other separate studio cabins on the grounds that can hold @ 2 to 4 guests each with decks that are just steps from the River itself; which is fairly calm and shallow at this point and away from large rapids.
This home is just a quarter mile south of the city limits and a short 1 mile walk or bike ride to downtown restaurants and stores, yet the 2 + acres with great views feels like its far out in a peaceful countryside.
All of this compound is surrounded by a privacy wall and fence which allows for peaceful seclusion. Each unit has it's own porch area to enjoy the natural surroundings. Each doorway has a exquisite stained glass centerpiece, and numerous antiques give a quality feel to every room.
The home has a very large kitchen and dining room area, as well as a rounded adobe Kiva Fireplace and 2 woodstoves. The Passive Solar Design and Trombe Wall (wikipedia.org/wiki/Trombe_wall) allows for very even temperatures year round, and provides light and heat for numerous plants in the spacious solar entryway as well. There is a wide open Great Room with extra couches and fold out beds for larger group visits. The open living space flows into the kitchen and dining areas, making it all very ideal for entertainment and family reunions. All guests will appreciate the hand-crafted Mexican tiles and bricks throughout the home, as well as many curved walls and windows and other spiraling architecture accents of unique design.
Various additional amenities include: Artistic Grounds & Landscaping with metal & rock sculptures and cobblestone pathways throughout; a four person Hot Tub, a rock pond and waterfall, and several outdoor tables and chair settings and hammocks or lounges for private retreats. There is also a Terrace between the home and the river where folks may enjoy panoramic vistas, natural seclusion and peaceful shade respites in summertime. The beautiful private courtyard has numerous vines and arches and accents for guests to ponder, while the property also includes many tall Pines, Cottonwoods, Aspen trees and flowering bushes and shrubs. From almost everywhere the soft sound of the river plays as background music to your peaceful retreat. This Riverside Retreat is Truly a Quality Experience.

Artist builds his Savannah studio with shipping containers
Architect, artist, designer Julio Garcia had been designing plans for shipping container homes for a decade before he found the perfect place to build one: on a long, narrow stretch of his property in Savannah, Georgia. “I’m a big believer we should be adapting to the environment… I remember walking out and looking at the yard and thinking oh my god the land is calling for this linear design.”
He picked up two 40 foot shipping containers from the Port of Savannah and, thanks to much advance planning, he was able to install them without removing one tree from his property. He offset the two boxes, cut out the interior container walls and added I-beams, a shed roof and clerestory windows in the center to provide plenty of daylighting.
“There’s nothing worse than feeling like you’re inside a container so in the design we had to address that. I’ve been in a couple of projects and they don’t function very well and you’re like, ‘Oh, I still feel like I’m in a metal box’.”
Garcia believes containers can make for affordable homes: “you could put up a structure like this for about 50K”, but much of the interior was salvaged from other job sites (i.e. the drywall and the kitchen). His Price Street Projects creates plans that are “almost do-it-yourself plans” for shipping container homes and he has installed commercial container spaces, but he’s a big believer that the site should determine the design.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! SUMMARY
=======
Georgia Totto O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986) was an American artist. She was best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. O'Keeffe has been recognized as the Mother of American modernism. In 1905, O'Keeffe began her serious formal art training at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and then the Art Students League of New York, but she felt constrained by her lessons that focused on recreating or copying what was in nature. In 1908, unable to fund further education, she worked for two years as a commercial illustrator, and then spent seven years between 1911 and 1918 teaching in Virginia, Texas, and South Carolina. During that time, she studied art during the summers between 1912 and 1914 and was introduced to the principles and philosophies of Arthur Wesley Dow, who espoused created works of art based upon personal style, design, and interpretation of subjects, rather than trying to copy or represent them. This caused a major change in the way she felt about and approached art, as seen in the beginning stages of her watercolors from her studies at the University of Virginia and more dramatically in the charcoal drawings that she produced in 1915 that led to total abstraction. Alfred Stieglitz, an art dealer and photographer, held an exhibit of her works in 1917. Over the next couple of years, she taught and continued her studies at the Teachers College, Columbia University in 1914 and 1915.
She moved to New York in 1918 at Stieglitz's request and began working seriously as an artist. They developed a professional relationship—he promoted and exhibited her works—and a personal relationship that led to their marriage in 1924. O'Keeffe created many forms of abstract art, including close-ups of flowers, such as the Red Canna paintings, that many found to represent women's genitalia, although O'Keeffe consistently denied that intention. The reputation of the portrayal of women's sexuality was also fueled by explicit and sensuous photographs that Stieglitz had taken and exhibited of O'Keeffe.
O'Keeffe and Stieglitz lived together in New York until 1929, when O'Keeffe began spending part of the year in the Southwest, which served as inspiration for her paintings of New Mexico landscapes and images of animal skulls, such as Cow's Skull: Red, White, and Blue and Ram's Head White Hollyhock and Little Hills. After Stieglitz's death, she lived permanently in New Mexico at Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio in Abiquiú, until the last years of her life when she lived in Santa Fe. In 2014, O'Keeffe's 1932 painting Jimson Weed sold for $44,405,000, more than three times the previous world auction record for any female artist. After her death, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum was established in Santa Fe.
