Rock Springs / Green River KOA in Rock Springs Wyoming provides full hookup RV and tent camping sites convenient for travelers. The park is a large gravel area with a mix of long term guests and short term sites. Convenient to the interstate the park is a bit pricey for what they offer. This area of Wyoming is an oil and gas production hub so the park is situated near industrial looking buildings; part of the charm of travelling to new areas.
The park is well run with a nice pool area and bathroom facilities. A small stocked store is available also. Fuel stations are convenient to the interstate and this park. No shade trees or grass.
One of the best features at this park are the private tent pads. A very nice touch.

The White Mountain Wild Horse Herd
When Friends of Animals was on the front lines in Wyoming last month, protesting the abusive wild horse roundups that the Bureau of Land Management carries out on behalf of ranchers, we were lucky to have the opportunity to see what we are trying to protect up close and personal. We saw several bands of horses of the White Mountain Herd along the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Tour, a 24-mile loop that runs from Rock Springs to Green River.
What struck us the most was seeing the families enjoying their freedom and interacting with each other, playing with and protecting one another. This particular herd is safe from roundups this year, but the BLM is targeting them for roundups in 2015.
Unfortunately, we also witnessed horses who had been rounded up and who endure living in horrible overcrowded dirt holding pens, living in a state of perpetual boredom.
Take action with us today and contact Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell and tell her wild horses on public lands should be listed and protected under the ESA. She can be reached at Department of the Interior, 1849 C Street, N.W., Washington DC 20240; 202.208.3100; feedback@ios.doi.gov
Wyoming Wild Horses and High Desert Country
Join us on our road trip to Yellowstone National Park. South of Yellowstone is Wyoming's high desert country. Stop in the visitor center in Rock Springs to get directions on where to see the Boars Tusk desert formation, the Kilpecker sand dunes, wild horses, and blonde desert elk. Many types of wildlife can be seen right from the road. Learn more about Sweetwater County, WY here

Fort Caspar, Wyoming, United states
Fort Caspar, Wyoming, United States 2005, museum and historic site by City of Casper
Fort Caspar was a military post of the United States Army in present-day Wyoming, named after 2nd Lieutenant Caspar Collins, a U.S. Army officer who was killed in the 1865 Battle of the Platte Bridge Station against the Lakota and Cheyenne. Originally founded in 1859 along the banks of the North Platte River as a trading post and toll bridge on the Oregon Trail, the post was later taken over by the Army and named Platte Bridge Station to protect emigrants and the telegraph line against raids from Lakota and Cheyenne in the ongoing wars between those nations and the United States. The site of the fort, near the intersection of 13th Street and Wyoming Boulevard in Casper, Wyoming, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is now owned and operated by the City of Casper as the Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site.
