Grizzly Falls Ziplining Expedition - Skagway, Alaska
Fast, fun, and exhilarating, this approximately 4 hour adventure is sure to excite nature lovers and thrill seekers alike! Get a running start on solid ground and take flight into the treetops of the Alaskan rainforest!
It all starts at your cruise dock when you meet up with your guide. From there, enjoy an entertaining historic tour through downtown Skagway then along 9 miles of stunning coastline. When you arrive at our base in Dyea, you will transfer into our customized unimog—an all-wheel drive vehicle necessary for getting up our rugged mountain road. During your adventurous ride up the mountain, look out at the impressive rainforest and glacially fed waterfalls. Get psyched—you're about to fly over this wild landscape!
At the top of the mountain, you will suit up in gear that meets the highest standards of safety while your highly trained guide tells you what to expect and how to safely navigate the course. You will then be lead to the take off zone, where you'll clip in and fly away! You'll soar through a course of 11 ziplines, the longest measuring 750ft—that's longer than 2 football fields combined! But this is more than just any zip course. Our lines will bring you directly above glacially fed waterfalls, so close you will actually feel the mist as you zoom by! For the more cautious adventurers, rest assured that you can always control your own speed with a brake system. But we double dog dare you to let go and zoom up to 45 miles per hour!
Of course, that's a little too fast to take those perfect pictures of the Alaskan wilderness. That's why we decided that a hardcore unimog and an 11 line zip course over waterfalls just isn't quite enough. So we added 4 state of the art suspension bridges. From these bridges, you'll be able to capture stunning photos of you and your loved ones in the heart of Alaska's wild beauty.
After completing the course, pat yourself on the back, say goodbye to your guides, and enjoy your last ride in the unimog to your bus at the bottom of the mountain. Take advantage of the scenic drive back to Skagway to look over your pictures and joke about who was the bravest zipliner. This is bound to be an E.X.C.U.R.S.I.O.N of a lifetime, one you will surely remember for years to come!

Ziplining in Juneau Alaska Rain Forest Canopy 2013
Our family had never ziplined before this time, on Alaska's Ultimate Canopy & Zipline Expedition operated by Alaska Canopy Adventures.
It was super fun and I can't think of a better introduction to ziplining than this one in Juneau, Alaska. No super long zips like you find other places, but instead 10 smaller ones through the Alaskan rain forest. We're all hooked now.
Longest zip at almost 800 ft (and best POV video I got) was Zip 8, at about 3:47.
Special thanks to our guides Sarah and Nano, who were simply outstanding.

Skagway Alaska-BoomTown
Skagway, at the head of the White Pass Trail, was founded by a former steamboat captain named William Moore. His small homestead was inundated with some 10,000 transient residents struggling to get their required year's worth of gear and supplies over the Coast Range and down the Yukon River headwaters at lakes Lindeman and Bennett. Dyea, three miles away at the head of Taiya Inlet, experienced the same frantic boomtown activity as goldseekers poured ashore and picked their way up the Chilkoot Trail into Canada.
All through the summer and on into the winter of 1897-98, stampeders poured into the newly created Alaskan tent and shack towns of Skagway and Dyea - the jumping off points for the 600-mile trek to the goldfields.
The official Alaska state mineral is gold, which played a major role in the opening of Alaska for future development. There were more than 50 gold rushes in Alaska and the Yukon from 1880 to 1915. Learn about one of them at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park!
The Chilkoot Trail, in Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, is 33 miles long and is shared with our neighbor, Parks Canada. Hikers cross the border at the top of the pass and enter British Columbia. The trail is considered to be the world's longest outdoor museum.

West Coast Journey-Quadra Island to Skagway, Alaska
A 54 day sea kayak journey from Quadra Island, B.C. to Skagway Alaska. Three of us (Graham Vaughan, Meredith Lewis, and Robin Humphreys) set out on April 20th, 2012 to paddle the 1000miles (1800km) north into in the wilderness of the Pacific North West. 50 of our days were spent learning what it means to live in a true Rainforest all the while encountering amazing wildlife along one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. What a trip!
Last Stop Skagway Alaska
The last leg of the journey took us from Whitehorse down past Carcross desert and into Alaska to a port town call Skagway. Skagway was the gateway to the north during the Gold rush. Anybody and everybody wanted to strike it rich would have come though here either to make their riches or lose it all.
It's a cool town with lots of shops and pubs, having the Ocean made it nice. I'd totally go back and enjoy it
