The Grunwald Monument in Krakow, Poland
A walk-around of the Grunwald monument in Krakow, Poland.
Plac jana Matejki , The Grunwald Monument - [24.11.2019]
The Grunwald Monument (Polish: Pomnik Grunwaldzki) is an equestrian statue of King of Poland Władysław II Jagiełło (1352–1434) located at Matejko Square in Kraków's Old Town and constructed in 1910 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald. It was destroyed in 1939 by Nazi Germans and reconstructed in 1976 according to project by Marian Konieczny.
The Battle of Grunwald, First Battle of Tannenberg or Battle of Žalgiris was fought on 15 July 1410 during the Polish–Lithuanian–Teutonic War. The alliance of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, led respectively by King Władysław II Jagiełło (Jogaila) and Grand Duke Vytautas, decisively defeated the German–Prussian Teutonic Knights, led by Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen. Most of the Teutonic Knights' leadership were killed or taken prisoner. Although defeated, the Teutonic Knights withstood the siege of their fortress in Marienburg (Malbork) and suffered minimal territorial losses at the Peace of Thorn (1411) (Toruń), with other territorial disputes continuing until the Peace of Melno in 1422. The knights, however, would never recover their former power, and the financial burden of war reparations caused internal conflicts and an economic downturn in the lands under their control. The battle shifted the balance of power in Central and Eastern Europe and marked the rise of the Polish–Lithuanian union as the dominant political and military force in the region.

about video...
it's a full review of Mateyko Square Krakow Poland I hope you like :)
The name of the square is connected to the bestowal of honorary citizenship of Kraków on the painter Jan Matejko. It was a special homage to the great artist, as people are hardly ever made patrons of a public space in their lifetime.

Top best places to visit in Krakow
Krakow second biggest polish city, lies in the south of Poland. One of the most important polish city with the great history. Official name is The Royal Capital City of Krakow. Central point of city center is Adam Mickiewicz Monument. The Main Square is dominated by the Town Hall Tower, Cloth Hall and St. Mary’s Basilica. Florianska Street is part of The Royal Route which begins at Wawel Hill continues through the center and leads to Florian’s Gate. On the other side of the walls there is Planty park surrounding the Old Town and Barbican, a historic gateway into the medieval city. The Grunwald Monument at the center of Matejko Square, also part of the Royal Route, is located just behind the Barbican. On the way back to the center we suggest you to see the Slowacki Theater. Old Town has many squares the Little Marketplace and the Stefanus Square are ones of the biggest.
Jagiellonian University is one of the best and the oldest university in Europe and its oldest part is the Collegium Maius. On the way to Wawel Castle you should not miss two monasteries Franciscans and
Dominicans. St. Mary Magdalene Square is the oldest part of the Old Town with the column of Peter Skarga and St. Peter and Paul Church. Wawel Castle is a symbolic place of great significance for Polish people. The seat of Polish monarchs... Coronation of Polish kings took place in this cathedral. The Royal Castle and the Cathedral is the best highlight of the city. Don’t forget about Wawel Dragon, one of the symbols of Krakow.
Kazimierz was a separate town, today, part of it, is a Jewish district, here you can find synagogues and Jewish hotels and restaurants. Around Remuh Synagogue there is even a small Jewish cemetery. This is also a good place for a nightlife, Near the New Square are a lot of bars and restaurants. The Old Town Hall is on the Wolnica Square. In this area there are several important churches. St. Micheal’s Church or Church on the Rock is the best example. Many famous Poles are buried here. And behind this church is Vistula River... just a stone’s throw from the Wawel Castle.
Krakow is not only Old Town and Kazimierz. There are some other interesting districts like Podgorze and Nowa Huta which means New Steel Mill. It was build by communists and it is very typical of socialist realism.
Not far away from historic center there is a large green space called Blonie If you want to see great view of the city you have to visit the Kosciusko Mound.

A quick video of the Royal Route in Krakow, Poland.
The Krakow Royal Road is the historic ceremonial route that King’s and other royalty would use as they made their way through the city when it was Poland’s capital.
Today, this royal route links most of the main tourist sites and other historical landmarks in the Krakow Old Town.
The best way to explore Krakow is to start by following the Royal Road through the center of the Old Town and making your way to Wawel Hill and the Wawel Castle.
I recommend starting your journey early in the morning, especially during the warmer summer months, to avoid the insane tourist crowds in the Krakow Old Town during the day.

Battle of Grunwald HD - (1410) Grand Duke Vitort and King Jogaila vs Teutonic Knights
Grand Duke Vitort of Lithuania (Historical Variations: Vytautas, Vitort, Vitovt, Witold) and his cousin King Jogaila of Poland decisively defeated the Teutonic Knights, led by Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen. Most of the Teutonic Knights' leadership were killed or taken prisoner.
The battle was one of the largest battles in Medieval Europe and is regarded as the most important victory in the history of Poland and Lithuania. It was surrounded by romantic legends and nationalistic propaganda, becoming a larger symbol of struggle against invaders and a source of national pride.
The Battle is also referred to as the Battle of Tannenberg.
