Guernsey is a small and charming island with a size of 12x10 km, which located in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy. Guernsey, with its seascapes, sandy beaches and cliff walks has been a tourist destination since at least the Victorian days. We liked Guernsey so much that we sailed there three times during two sailing seasons. Join us and enjoy Guernsey with our sailing video.

Two women compare the shells they have collected. Herm islanders use the shells to make souvenirs which are sold during the summer months. Ballet dancers made entirely from shells. Exterior of the Mermaid tavern. A crowd enjoy an outdoor drink. Barman in white tuxedo and black bow tie prepares a cocktail in a shaker. The women wear very striking clothes. Evening falls over the harbour. The Guernsey yacht club start early the next day for a day's race from St. Peter Port to Herm. The race finishes. A small gun is fired to signal the end of the race. Male and female swimming and diving contest. St. Maud's Park (?) Steel band. A scout wearing a kilt. Large crowd. Floats decked with flowers with imaginative and highly decorative themes compete for the coveted Fre de Her (?)..

Vivid colours contribute to this excellent survey of the Channel Islands, in particular Guernsey and Herm. Strong in period detail of the 1950's, especially codes of dress.

The Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association welcomed the Queen's Baton Relay to Guernsey today. At a private reception at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre it was given to Peter Sirett, the president of the Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association.

Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands. Just twenty-five square miles in area, this pocket-sized British Crown dependency is big on sunshine, serenity and history.
St. Peter Port, is one of Europe’s prettiest harbor towns. Standing guard over the capital for over 800 years is Castle Cornet, which houses some of the island’s finest museums.

Just outside in Candie Gardens, stands a tribute to the literary giant, Victor Hugo, who fell under Guernsey’s spell in the 19th century.
Follow coastal paths, which pass coastal forts like Clarence Battery and sheltered beaches like Petit Bot Bay. While Guernsey’s coastline often steals the show, you’ll find plenty to explore inland too, such as the nature trails and floral displays of Saumarez Park and Sausmarez Manor.
Step into the damp netherworld of the German Underground Hospital, a maze of tunnels hewn from solid rock during World War Two. On the outskirts of St Peter Port, a former U-Boat fuel depot houses the La Vallette Underground Military Museum.
After the war, German equipment littered the island. The German Occupation Museum displays an incredible array of this wartime memorabilia, and pays tribute to the resourceful islanders who endured the years of occupation.
After spending a few hours wandering through the shadows of war, stepping back into the island’s sea air and sunshine is all more the sweeter.

Launch of Invictus Sailability boat in Guernsey Channel Islands,
this specialist sailing boat will help young people with reduced mobility get out on the water this summer. The Guernsey Sailing Trust organised the purchase of the adapted RS Venture keel boat one of just six of its type in the world. It was taken for a test sail off St Peter Port by two members of the British Sonar Paralympic sailing team Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas with them was Steve Dean from RS who built the boat.
