Gulf Coast Town Center is an outdoor shopping mall in Fort Myers, Florida. Opened in phases between 2005 and 2007, the center features Bass Pro Shops, Belk, Best Buy, Costco, Dick's Sporting Goods, J. C. Penney, LA Fitness, Marshalls, Regal Entertainment Group, Staples, and Target Corporation as its anchor stores.[1] It is managed by CBL & Associates Properties.

One of the first tenants confirmed for the mall site was a Belk department store, which was announced in 2003.[2] The first phase included Staples, Petco, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Babies R Us, and a Regal Entertainment Group movie theater, followed by a Bass Pro Shops in the second phase.[3] Other tenants included Costco, Linens 'n Things, Best Buy, Residence Inn by Marriott, J. C. Penney, and several restaurants.[4] The final phase, completed in 2008, included Ron Jon Surf Shop and Borders Books & Music

Residence Inn by Marriott is a brand of extended stay hotels. The chain was launched in 1975 in Wichita, Kansas by Jack DeBoer, and acquired by Marriott International on July 7, 1987. As of May 2011, there were over 600 Residence Inn hotels in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The brand's slogan is It's not a room. It's a Residence. It was the first extended-stay brand in the United States, and was a key player in launching the concept of a suite in a hotel.[citation needed]
Historically, the usual appearance of a Residence Inn was a main building, called the Gatehouse, which houses the front desk, a common area for meal service, an on-site coin-operated laundry, a swimming pool and exercise room and often several outbuildings similar to condo or apartment complexes. Most had interior corridors. More recent constructions, however, have moved away from the outbuilding style and instead have a more traditional layout with all suites in the same building. The suites are much larger than traditional hotel rooms, however. They are typically around 450 square feet for a standard suite and 750 for a two-bedroom suite. Residence Inns typically feature a complimentary small hot breakfast in the morning and a free light dinner or snack reception on weekday evenings, Monday through Wednesday or Thursday.
The first Residence Inn to bear the Marriott name was in Charlotte, North Carolina. Virginia Beach, Virginia has the only Oceanfront Residence Inn.[1]
In contrast to Marriott's other extended-stay brand, the low-cost TownePlace Suites, Residence Inn competes in the upscale industry segment, along with InterContinental's Staybridge Suites, Hyatt's HYATT house, and Homewood Suites by Hilton.

Griffin's only son, Ben Hill Griffin, III, carried on his father's family business, and served as the CEO of Alico until 2004, and Alico was sold in 2014 Griffin's son continues to serve as the chairman of Ben Hill Griffin, Inc., and one of FGCU's primary academic buildings, Griffin Hall, is named for him.Griffin's grandson and namesake, Ben Hill Griffin, IV, serves as the current president of Ben Hill Griffin, Inc., which is one of the member companies of the Florida's Natural cooperative.
after Griffin's death, Alico, Inc., the company he built into a successful diversified agribusiness, contributed approximately 760 acres (3.1 km2) in Lee County, Florida for the development of Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), Florida's tenth state university. Alico Arena, FGCU's indoor sports arena, is named for the company. The elementary school in his hometown of Frostproof is also named for Griffin

In 1984 Craig and Lea Culver, along with Craig's parents George and Ruth, opened the very first Culver's in the family's beloved hometown of Sauk City, Wisconsin.
In a sense it was destiny.
The son of a cheesemaker and grandson of a Wisconsin farmer, George Culver spent the early part of his career inspecting and grading dairy farms for the Wisconsin Dairies Cooperative. While George was out calling on area dairy farms, Ruth Culver was home joyfully raising their three children, instilling in them the small-town, Midwest values she herself had come to know growing up in Sauk City.
In 1961, George and Ruth seized an opportunity to buy their first restaurant. With no formal training, only Ruth's warm and gracious hospitality and George's natural command of the kitchen, the two proved a great team. With their kids growing up serving guests and learning firsthand about hospitality and delicious food cooked to order, the Culver family's team approach became the model of many successful restaurants and supper clubs to come.

The Cape Coral Bridge is a bridge located in Southwest Florida. It spans the Caloosahatchee River connecting Fort Myers and Cape Coral. It is made up of two parallel fixed spans, each 3,400 feet (1,000 m) long.

The original span opened for traffic on March 14, 1964, with one lane in each direction.[1] In 1989, a second parallel span opened south of the first span, with two lanes for eastbound traffic, and westbound traffic using both lanes on the original span. In conjunction with the new eastbound span, a four lane overpass was constructed over the intersection of State Road 867 (McGregor Boulevard) just east of the bridge.

It's hard to imagine Fort Myers Beach as a remote stretch of green edged with white, soft sand and accessible only by boat. However, that's just what it was until the first Little Bridge was constructed to bring tourists and locals alike to the seven-mile Estero Island through Bunche Beach on the mainland. By the late 1920s, a new bridge (actually a second-hand one from the East coast of Florida) was installed near the current San Carlos Bridge.
Little by little, Estero Island's attractive features, including miles and miles of white, sandy beaches, have captured the imaginations of visitors from near and far. This beach community draws thousands of visitors from Germany, France and the United Kingdom each year.
Boating, sailing, fishing and spectacular Lovers Key State Park make this island a real recreational playground. Add to that a great number of family-friendly resorts, quaint cottages, Old Florida charm, restaurants serving fresh seafood from the Gulf of Mexico and an annual Shrimp Festival, and it's a beach vacation paradise.
Shopping Inside Edison Mall in Fort Myers, Florida
George Sanders developed the Edison Mall, which opened in 1965 on US-41 at Colonial Boulevard on the south side of Fort Myers. It was the first mall in the United States to feature rival chains J.C. Penney and Sears as its anchor stores.[2] Maas Brothers was a third anchor, which was its first store to be located in a shopping mall.[3] At the time, US-41 was only two lanes wide, and the only other businesses near the mall were a Publix supermarket and a drive-in theater,[4] now the site of a Kmart store. Sanders sold the mall to Aster Realty in 1979.[5]
The mall was expanded with the addition of Burdines in 1979.[6] Another expansion added J. W. Robinson's, who's Florida locations were acquired by Maison Blanche in 1987. Maison Blanche then sold its store and six others in Florida to Dillard's in 1991.[7] Also in 1991, Maas Brothers was acquired by Burdines. Burdines moved its women's clothing into the former Maas Brothers building which was heavily renovated, while retaining men's clothing and home goods at the original location.[8] A 1998 renovation to Edison Mall added skylights in the center court.
Along with the rest of the Burdines chain, the two locations at Edison Mall were renamed Burdine's-Macy's in 2003, dropping the Burdine's name two years later.[9] In 2005, Simon announced a further renovation of the mall, which would add an outdoor lifestyle center wing and renovate the interior.[10]

Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is a public university in Fort Myers, Florida. It belongs to the twelve-member State University System of Florida as its second youngest member. The university was established on May 3rd, 1991, and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award 58 different types of bachelor's, 26 different master's, 5 doctoral degrees, and 11 graduate certificates. All of the university's undergraduate engineering degrees are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
The university's academics are divided into six main colleges; U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, Lutgert College of Business, Marieb College of Health & Human Services, College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and Honors College.
