Gulliver's Gate: World of Tiny Landmarks in NYC
(5 Apr 2017) A new attraction called Gulliver's Gate opens just off Times Square this week depicting 100 landmarks around the world in miniature.
The indoor 49,000-square-foot diorama includes scale models of structures and landscapes including New York's Brooklyn Bridge, Paris' Eiffel Tower and Beijing's Forbidden City
Many of the structures are remarkably detailed. All are at HO model railroad scale.
The attraction is named for the 18th century novel Gulliver's Travels, which told the story of a man shipwrecked on an island inhabited by tiny people.
The landscapes and neighborhoods of Gulliver's Gate are filled with toy-like people and vehicles, but the attraction has one other thing in common with Gulliver's Travels.
The book was a satire, and Gulliver's Gate offers a few humorous winks at less-than-ideal real-world scenarios like a bear causing a traffic jam in St. Petersburg, Russia, and a Manhattan scene of mayhem with a body sprawled on the ground near an ambulance with a flashing red light.
Most of the exhibits are static, though there are a few moving parts _ including trapeze acrobats and the Macy's Thanksgiving parade.
Admission is a hefty $36 ($27 for seniors and kids 3 to 12), with a couple of pricey add-on options. For $44, you can step inside a scanner that produces a tiny 3-D model of yourself and have the figurine placed somewhere in the diorama. For $100, you can buy the figurine to keep.
Gulliver's Gate is one of several new attractions opening in the Times Square area this year. Opry City Stage, an entertainment complex devoted to country music and Southern culture, opens this summer.
Gulliver's Gate co-founder Eiran Gazit is behind a similar attraction in Israel that depicts that country's landmarks.

The City of New York, usually called either New York City (NYC) or simply New York (NY), is the most populous city in the United States and in the U.S. state of New York. With an estimated 2017 population of 8,622,698 distributed over a land area of about 302.6 square miles (784 km2), New York is also the most densely populated major city in the United States. A global power city, New York City has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world,[25][26] and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, art, fashion, and sports. The city's fast pace has inspired the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy.
Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of the State of New York. The five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island – were consolidated into a single city in 1898. The city and its metropolitan area constitute the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. New York City is home to more than 3.2 million residents born outside the United States, the largest foreign-born population of any city in the world. In 2017, the New York metropolitan area produced a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of US$1.73 trillion. If greater New York City were a sovereign state, it would have the 12th highest GDP in the world. New York is home to the highest number of billionaires of any city in the world.
New York City traces its origins to a trading post founded by colonists from the Dutch Republic in 1624 on Lower Manhattan; the post was named New Amsterdam in 1626.The city and its surroundings came under English control in 1664 and were renamed New York after King Charles II of England granted the lands to his brother, the Duke of York. New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790. It has been the country's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to the U.S. by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is an international symbol of the U.S. and its ideals of liberty and peace. In the 21st century, New York has emerged as a global node of creativity and entrepreneurship, social tolerance, and environmental sustainability, and as a symbol of freedom and cultural diversity.

Manhattan (/mænˈhætən/, /mən-/) is the most densely populated borough of New York City, its economic and administrative center, and its historical birthplace.[4] Locally it is often referred to simply as The City.[1] The borough is coextensive with New York County, founded on November 1, 1683, as one of the original counties of the U.S. state of New York. The borough consists mostly of Manhattan Island, bounded by the Hudson, East, and Harlem rivers; several small adjacent islands; and Marble Hill, a small neighborhood now on the U.S. mainland, physically connected to the Bronx and separated from the rest of Manhattan by the Harlem River.
Manhattan is often described as the cultural, financial, media, and entertainment capital of the world,[5][6][7][8][9] and the borough hosts the United Nations Headquarters.[10] Anchored by Wall Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City has been called both the most economically powerful city and the leading financial center of the world,[11][12][13][14][15] and Manhattan is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by total market capitalization: the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.[16][17] Many multinational media conglomerates are based in Manhattan, and the borough has been the setting for numerous books, films, and television shows. Manhattan is historically documented to have been purchased by Dutch colonists from Native Americans in 1626 for 60 guilders, which equals US$1050 today.[18][19] Manhattan real estate has since become among the most expensive in the world, with the value of Manhattan Island, including real estate, estimated to exceed US$3 trillion in 2013;[4][20] median residential property sale prices in Manhattan exceeded US$1,500 per square foot ($16,000/m2) as of 2017,[21] and Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan commands the highest retail rents in the world, at US$3,000 per square foot ($32,000/m2) in 2017.[22]
New York County is the United States' second-smallest county by land area (larger only than Kalawao County, Hawaii), and is also the most densely populated U.S. county.[23] It is also one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with a census-estimated 2016 population of 1,643,734[2] living in a land area of 22.83 square miles (59.13 km2),[24] or 71,999 residents per square mile (27,799/km2), higher than the density of any individual U.S. city.[25] On business days, the influx of commuters increases this number to over 3.9 million,[26] or more than 170,000 people per square mile (65,600/km2). Manhattan has the third-largest population of New York City's five boroughs, after Brooklyn and Queens, and is the smallest borough in terms of land area.[27]
Many districts and landmarks in Manhattan are well known, as New York City received a record 61 million tourists in 2016,[28] and Manhattan hosts three of the world's 10 most-visited tourist attractions in 2013: Times Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Terminal.[29] The borough hosts many prominent bridges, such as the Brooklyn Bridge; skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building;[30] and parks, such as Central Park. Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere,[31] and the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, part of the Stonewall National Monument, is considered the birthplace of the modern gay rights movement.[32][33] The City of New York was founded at the southern tip of Manhattan,[4] and the borough houses New York City Hall, the seat of the city's government.[34] Numerous colleges and universities are located in Manhattan,[35] including Columbia University, New York University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top 40 in the world

Winter In New York
1 week before Christmas I went to New York for 3 Nights- this video shows my experience out there.
Here is a short 3 minute cinematic of New York City. I decided to film anything I thought could be interesting in the city and make a video on it. I originally struggled to edit this video, not knowing the direction to go in. However I decided to preview a few of the clips in black & white and it completely changed how New York is viewed through the clips. It was no longer just 5 second clips on huge skyscrapers and constant rush but instead show the unique parts of the city. Hopefully you enjoy the video and sorry for the poor camera skills! First time ever making an video like this so still practising!

Massive digital billboard turns Times Square even brighter
A giant billboard about a length of a football field was lit up on Tuesday night on New York's iconic Times Square.
It's billed as the square's biggest and most expensive digital billboard.
The megascreen is designed with the most advanced technology available to enable advertisers make an impact on their potential customers in one of the world's most visited locations, the Times Square.
The president of Clear Channel Outdoor New York, which is selling the ad space, said the billboard has crowd cameras built in so that it can interact with the crowd passing by.
The eight-storey tall screen also has the highest resolution than any of the other billboards on the square or the best TVs on the market, Harry Coghlan added.
Universal Everything studio collective will animate the screen with digital art until 24 November, according to New York Times.
Then Google will take over as the debut advertiser with a campaign that will run through the New Year.
According to data from the Times Square Alliance, about 300,000 pedestrians enter the area daily, making it a highly attractive place for advertisers.

Travel Vlog 2015: New York City!
During the summer, I took a trip to the big apple for the first time, and met up with a friend. We did the standard touristy stuff. Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the usual stuff you'd expect to do when going there.
We also went to Koreatown and I had my first sushi, plus I picked up my first physical album from one of my favorite music groups, Girls' Generation :P
