Guoliang Village is located in Wanxian Shan National Park. Zhengzhou City is the nearest airport and from there, take the train to Xinxiang City. From Xinxiang, take the inter-city bus to Huixian Town. There is regular bus service to Guoliang through out the day from Huixian.

Guoliang Tunnel
The Guoliang Tunnel (Chinese: 郭亮洞) is carved along the side of and through a mountain in China. The tunnel links the village of Guoliang to the outside through the Taihang Mountains which are situated in Huixian, Xinxiang, Henan Province of China.[1]
History
The village was named after a fugitive rebel during the Han Dynasty, who had fought an overwhelming imperial force to a standstill utilizing the extreme local terrain. Before the tunnel was constructed, access to the nearby village of Guoliang was restricted to a difficult path carved into the mountainside.[1] The village is nestled in a valley surrounded by towering mountains cut off from outside civilization.
To ease the villagers' access to outside world, a group of villagers led by Shen Mingxin made plans in 1972 to carve a road into the side of the mountain. They sold their livestock to raise funds to buy tools and materials. Thirteen villagers began the project, with one dying during construction. Without access to power tools, they undertook construction mostly with hammers and chisels. At the most difficult stage, the tunnel progressed at a rate of one metre every three days. It is 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi) long, 5 metres (16 ft) tall and 4 metres (13 ft) wide.
The tunnel opened to traffic on 1 May 1977. Its creation has turned the village into a tourist attraction. The area has also been used as a film location.

The Sichuan-Tibet Highway, originally called the Kangding-Tibet Highway (a section of the No. 318 National Trunk Highway) takes you through vast, open landscapes with majestic peaks vaulting skyward. The plateau areas are dotted with castellated Tibetan homes and an infinite number of contentedly munching yaks. Travelers can enjoy the magnificent and changeable scenery ranging from warm spring to cold and snowing winter, which makes you intoxicated. This climate will be changing in front of you and you may think “days in heaven, but years on the earth”. The trip may take around 15 days if you you are not in a hurry. The Sichuan-Tibet Highway is also infamously known for bad driving surfaces and sharp mountain-side hairpins. Driving along single track sections in bad weather can be a great challenge to a less experienced driver.
Skippers Canyon Road
The Skippers Canyon Road, located in in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island, is today one of New Zealand's better known scenic roads and unbelievably scary as it’s totally narrow and different to manouvre your car. This gravel road, with a length of 16,5 miles, carved by hand by miners over 140 years ago is made from a very narrow cut in the middle of a sheer cliff face. It’s a road so dangerous that your rental car insurance won’t be honored if you drive on it.
The road was built during the gold rush, when a precarious pack track was the only access to Skippers township and the Upper Shotoverdiggings. Constructed between 1883 and 1890, the Skippers Road was considered a major engineering feat in its day. The miners who built the road in the late 1800s didn’t think much about luxury, though — it’s unpaved and very narrow. Should you encounter a car driving the other way, one of you will have to back up gingerly until you can find enough room to pass. Good luck figuring out which of you that will be. The road is so narrow that if two vehicles have to pass each other, one vehicle might have to reverse for anything up to 3 kilometres of winding narrow road to get to a place wide enough to pass. It’s one of only two roads in the country where rental car insurance is not honoured if driven on. Skippers Road is mostly one-way, narrow and steep with sheer drops of several hundred metres.
North Yungas Road
The North Yungas Road is a road leading from La Paz to Coroico, 56 kilometres northeast of La Paz in the Yungas region of Bolivia. In 1995 the Inter-American Development Bank named it as the world's most dangerous road.
Karakoram Highway
The N-35 or National Highway 35, known more popularly as the Karakoram Highway and China-Pakistan Friendship Highway, is a 1300 km national highway in Pakistan which extends from Hasan Abdal in Punjab.
The Karakoram Highway (known informally as the KKH) is said to be the highest paved international road in the world, but at its peak at the China-Pakistan border it is only paved on the Chinese side. It's the road to paradise – if you like exploring the mountains, that is. It's regarded as one of the world's hardest alpine climbs
The Karakorum Highway connects China and Pakistan across the Karakoram mountain range, through the Khunjerab Pass, at an elevation of 4,693 metres (15,397 ft) above the sea level. The road is one of the scariest and hair raising jeep trip in the world. 810 Pakistani and 82 Chinese workers lost their lives, mostly in landslides and falls, while building the highway. The route of the KKH traces one of the many paths of the ancient Silk Road.The road has a length of 1,300 km (800 mi): Pakistan: 887 km (551 mi) and China: 413 km (257 mi). it was started in 1959 and was completed in 1986 after 27 years of construction.
Trollstigen
Trollstigen is a serpentine mountain road in Rauma Municipality, Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of Norwegian County Road 63 that connects the town of Åndalsnes in Rauma and the village of Valldal in Norddal Municipality.

We’re all pretty familiar with hairy driving situations. According to The World Health Organization, about 1.3 million people die in traffic accidents every year. While many of those deaths could be prevented by better driving, there are some roads that test the skill, and courage, of any driver. In some cases, though, it’s more that just topography that makes a road dangerous. Some of the roads listed here pass through war-torn countries, while others are plagued by bandits. Whether it’s hairpin bends, sheer mountain drops or roads through war zones, here are some of the world’s most dangerous roads.
1). Guoliang Tunnel, China
The Guoliang Tunnel which stretches 1.2 km (0.75 mi) was carved into China’s Taihang Mountains, entirely by the village locals. The tunnel is used by foot passengers as well as transport and links Guoliang with the outside world. Before 1972, the tunnel was merely a path chiselled into the rock used to be the only access linking the village to the rest of the Huixian, Xinxiang, Henan Province of China. The journey was a gruelling, almost vertical set of 720 mountain steps. Today, apart from the driving risks, the tunnel is one of the most visited parts of the world.

The Maeklong Railway is only 3 feet wide, but it has 5-10 feet of clearance on both sides, giving merchants a tight but workable space in which to set up their tented displays. A warning bell lets buyers and sellers alike know that its time to clear the tracks for an approaching train. Awnings are folded up and goods displayed near the tracks are either rolled back on wheeled tables or arranged low enough so that the train can pass right over them.

Yungas Road, Bolivia, is a road which consists of solid rock on one side and a 2,000-foot abyss on the other. In between is a two-way, 12-foot-wide path known as “Death Road”. Regularly named as the world’s most dangerous route, North Yungas Road was cut into the side of the Cordillera Oriental Mountain chain in the 1930’s. The roads are unpaved and does not consist of guardrails. There are numerous mudslides and tumbling rocks, and small waterfalls occasionally rain down the cliff sides. According to the annual death report, the road is responsible for the deaths of an estimated 200 to 300 every year.
4). (Eyre Highway, Australia).
Imagine a drive, a thousand miles long with no turns or bends, across a vast featureless plain with repetitive landscape, and hundreds of miles between towns and service stations. Eyre Highway in Australia connects Western Australia to Southern Australia via the Nullarbor Plain, a flat and treeless, giant bed of limestone 200,000 square kilometres in area. The asphalted highway in Australia, with a length of 1,675 km (1041 mi) includes what is said to be the longest straight stretch of road in the country. The loneliness, remoteness and driver fatigue cause a high incidence of fatalities and accidents every year.
5). (The Death Road, Bolivia).
The Death Road in Bolivia begins at 15,400 feet and for an estimated 300 people a year ends in the loss of their life. Known among locals as El Camino de la Muerte, the location is among the nation’s biggest draw cards for thrill-seeking tourists. For the locals, the ‘Death Road’ is an important transport route which they brave in cars and trucks, teetering on the edge and risking their lives with every trip. This tunnel was constructed in 1972, before it had a foothold, and this route was connected to the villages of Huixian, Xinjiang, Henan provinces. The stairs built on the way between about 720 steep hills were very dangerous. People of the village decided to dig tunnels on the hills to overcome this problem, the village chief Shan Mingjing arranged hammer and tools by selling his goats and medicines. 13 people first started working on this project, it took 5 years to dig the 1,200 meter long tunnel that the tunnel is 4 meters wide and 5 meters high.This ton 12 ton drill road and 4,000 hammers were used in making L.
