The Song Festival in Tallin. Estonians march to the festival of national song and dance. The chorus directed by Gustav Ernasaks performs the festivals anthem «Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm» (My Country is My Pride and Joy) in the great outdoor shell outside Tallinn. It was written by Ernasaks and Lydia Koidula in Leningrad in 1944, and first performed under Ernasaks direction. The lyrics were an intense and moving expression of Estonian determination to survive as a people, and included such lines as My flowering Estonia! Your pain boils in My Heart.
