8th video of Seoul Duo TV.
Videos are about stories of the places I love in Seoul Korea.
In this episode, I made a travel guide of Deoksugung Palace in Seoul, Korea.
It is right next to Seoul city hall, so easy to come through and walk around.
There are five palaces in Seoul, and Deoksugung is my favortie.
It was the main palace during the late Joseon Dynasty, and it kept all the sad and tragic historical moments.
This palace is very unique feature that traditional palace and modern building is in the same place.
You would feel that you are in nature even though 8-way road is passing by right next to this palace.

Deoksugung Palace Self-Guided Tour-Seoul, South Korea (With Historical Facts)
Deoksugung Palace is one of the Five Grand Palaces in Seoul, South Korea and is located not far from Seoul City Hall. It was inhabited by several Korean royalties until the turn of the 20th Century. It was the main palace of the Great Han Empire (1897-1910). The palace was heavily destroyed by the Japanese during the colonial period of Korea and only about one-third of the structures that were standing before the occupation remain today.

A Seoul's Viewpoint: Deoksugung Palace
Deoksugung Palace is one of five royal palaces remained in Seoul, and its old name was 'Geongungung Palace.' Visitors can see Korean and Western style buildings such as Seokjoseon at the same time.
Let's see the peaceful scenery of Deoksugung palace located at the corner of Seoul's busiest downtown intersection.
The HANBOK EXPERIENCE | Changing of Guards | Exploring Gyeongbokgung Palace | Seoul, South Korea
On our second day in Seoul, we visited Gyeongbokgung palace (a renovated 14th century royal palace complex), we noticed that a lot of the visitors are wearing very colorful clothing. Turns out, these beautiful dresses and costumes are Korean national dress hanbok!
Walking in the narrow streets nearby the palace I there lot of small shops where you can rent the hanbok. Although most of the women wearing one are locals, we do see a few foreigners as well. Turns out, there is no particular reason for wearing the costume other than just take a nice picture, and it’s not just women who wear costumes! By the way, if you are wearing a hanbok, visiting Gyeongbokgung palace is for free!
When we enter the palace, guard changing ceremony begins, so the palace is almost deserted. This time around it seems nearly half of all the visitors are wearing hanbok!
Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is also commonly referred to as the Northern Palace because its location is furthest north when compared to the neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghuigung (Western Palace) Palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the most beautiful, and remains the largest of all five palaces.
The premises were once destroyed by fire during the Imjin War (Japanese Invasions, 1592-1598). However, all of the palace buildings were later restored under the leadership of Heungseondaewongun during the reign of King Gojong (1852-1919).
Remarkably, the most representative edifices of the Joseon Dynasty, Gyeonghoeru Pavilion and Hyangwonjeong Pond have remained relatively intact. Woldae and the sculptures of Geunjeongjeon (The Royal Audience Chamber) represent past sculptures of contemporary art.
The National Palace Museum of Korea is located south of Heungnyemun Gate, and the National Folk Museum is located on the eastern side within Hyangwonjeong

Changing Ceremony of the Royal Guards in Deoksugung Palace, Seoul South Korea
I thought this would be interesting to share. I managed to record almost all of the changing ceremony of the royal guards in Deoksugung Palace. Deoksugung Palace is located very close to Seoul City Hall in the centre of the Korean capital. The ceremony features live traditional Korean music and attracts crowds of tourists. Throughout the ceremony, information is provided in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. The ceremony is organised and sponsored by the city of Seoul.

Taeryeongjeon Hall at Gyeonghuigung Palace in Seoul, South Korea
Taeryeongjeon Hall is located in a back corner of Gyeonghuigung Palace. It contains the portrait of King Yeongjo who ruled from 1724 to his death in 1776. Originally, this building had no specific purpose or use. In 1744, during the 20th year of the reign of Yeongjo, it was renovated to display his own portrait.
