Exploring Haarlem Netherlands
— When visiting the Netherlands, most people feel that they have to make a stop in Amsterdam. However, we're here to introduce to you a great alternative to the often wild and crazy most populous city in the Netherlands!
With one-fifth the population and located just a 30 minute drive (or 15 minute train ride) from Amsterdam is Haarlem, the capital city of North Holland.
Haarlem has everything you would want in a quaint Dutch town, including canals, cafes, churches, markets, breweries, bike paths, and plenty of shopping!

Haarlem, Netherlands (Holland) travel video
The historic city of Haarlem is one of the most attractive destinations in the Netherlands. We show the main neighborhoods you want to have a look at when you're visiting Haarlem, a real Dutch treat. In the center the market square with the great church towering over, and just below there is a series of pedestrian lanes lined with shops and cafés that are very charming, and there are little side residential lanes here as well. Haarlem is only 15 minutes away from Amsterdam by train, so it makes an easy day-trip, but this small city is so fascinating you might want to spend a night or two to fully enjoy the experience.
Many of these brick buildings date back 400 years to the 17th century when Haarlem was at its peak of prosperity. They were homes and workshops and warehouses of the merchants. Today there are a lot of bars and restaurants and then it becomes a shopping street.
And this leads us right into perhaps the most charming street in Haarlem and maybe the cutest lane in the country.
Kleine Houstraat. You won't get lost here because it's a small district and the streets are rather straight and run at right angles to each other, but there's plenty here to keep you busy for a full day just wandering around. Walk along some of these connecting streets like Anegan, it's almost like a wide shopping mall that joins up three of the other main shopping streets.
You'll find the shoppers and workers are friendly and ready to talk.
There is frequent train service every 10 minutes between Haarlem and Amsterdam. However if you come on day trip you're probably not going to be getting to the ends of some of the shopping lanes and into the interesting little back streets or to the museums. If you spend a night or two you'll have plenty of time.

Haarlem Visit, The Netherlands
HAARLEM, NETHERLANDS and FINE DINING at Restaurant Mr. & Mrs.! YUMMY!
Hi Loves,
Today, I am sharing our short visit to Haarlem, Netherlands and our wonderful dining experience at Restaurant Mr. and Mrs in June 2019. Haarlem is the capital of the province North Holland, where many Dutch residents live. The city is about a 15-minute train ride from Amsterdam. Since we rented a car, we decided to stop by Haarlem and explored this peaceful city. We were also fortunate to dine at Restaurant Mr. and Mrs. and our experience there was absolutely amazing! I would like to give this place a 5 star rating. The meal and the wine (recommended by the chef) was phenomenal! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you’re passing by Haarlem. It will not disappoint you. We also missed a couple of lovely spots so comment below if you would like to share other attractions or if you have any questions about the city or the restaurant.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy the video!
XOXO,
Michelle

Haarlem, Netherlands. Haarlem is Called the Most Flemish City of the North. Best Photo Collage!
Haarlem is a city outside of Amsterdam in the northwest Netherlands. Once a major North Sea trading port surrounded by a defensive wall, it retains its medieval character of cobblestone streets and gabled houses. It's the center of a major flower-bulb-growing district, and famous for its outlying tulip fields, art museums and hofjes (almshouses built around leafy courtyards).
Haarlem with its many historic buildings and beautiful old squares lies near the beach on the banks of the Spaarne river. It is wonderful to stroll through the narrow streets lined by the monumental buildings built by master Lieven de Key. Visit extraordinary museums, such as the Frans Hals or Teylers Museum, and explore its countless cafés and restaurants. Haarlem is called the most Flemish city of the north.
