The Hagood Creek Petroglyph Site is a county-owned museum at Hagood Mill Historic Site in Pickens County, South Carolina, which exhibits and protects in situ at least 32 rock art carvings (including 17 human figures), most believed to be prehistoric.
The Hagood petroglyphs were discovered on a rainy day in January 2003 by Michael Bramlett, a volunteer with the South Carolina Petroglyph Survey headed by University of South Carolina archaeologist Tommy Charles. Subsequently Charles and his team examined the large, low-lying boulder at night with side-scanning lights and found other glyphs invisible in daylight. Because a large portion of the boulder lay beneath a dirt road constructed in the 1820s, Charles received permission from Pickens County to excavate the covered portion of the rock. There he discovered additional human representations, all sticklike figures except for one with a head and legs but no arms and with a torso in the form of a rectangle, which the team dubbed refrigerator man. Charles believed these carvings were prehistoric because they had been created by pecking (presumably with stone tools) rather than by scratching or incising with metal.[1] Nevertheless, the age and purpose of the rock art (at least beyond motifs universal to human experience, such as representations of animals or humans) remains undetermined.[2]
Almost immediately plans were made to exhibit the rock art to encourage tourism; but the museum did not open until 2015 because of political infighting, construction errors,[3] the firing of a county administrator,[4] stalled fundraising during the Great Recession,[5] and the sudden death of the Hagood Mill site manager.[6]
The Hagood Creek Petroglyph Site is a two-room, barn-like structure built directly over the petroglyphs to facilitate display and ensure long-term protection of the artifacts. One room contains exhibits, including photographs and portable petroglyphs, and the other displays the rock from an accessible viewing platform where, presented under suitable lighting, visitors can hear a description of the petroglyphs recorded by Tommy Charles.[7]
HONORING THE FALLEN CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS
I just want to start out by saying that I don't tolerate or condone racism or slavery of any kind! That's not what this video is about. This video is about taking time to remember that the boys in grey were people too. They fought, died, were scared, cried, and brave. They are my forefathers and maybe yours too. You may or may not agree with the cause but remember that history is written by the victors. Not all you learned in school about the Civil War is accurate. I think most of them felt that the Union Army fighting against them was like battling the English for control of the nation again. Don't forget--Yankees owned slaves too. It's not all about the slavery. Look into it more if you choose. I choose to make a video honoring these fallen heroes that were fighting for their country. May God Bless ALL Americans! Love you!

Students and Staff Now Enjoy Instant Access to All Digital Learning Resources
The Challenge:
The instructional technology team was moving towards digital learning resources, especially in areas of 1to1 and BYOD, however, forgetting the usernames and passwords started becoming a hindrance to productive use of the various digital learning tools.
Choosing ClassLink:
The team knew something had to be done and so a search began to find a solution to the login problem. ClassLink was recommended through an industry colleague and so a review was conducted. After a demonstration and the testimonial from a trusted friend it seemed clear that ClassLink was the right choice. A review of the marketplace and lackluster demonstrations and horror stories from other options in the marketplace made it clear that ClassLink was a must.
ClassLink was installed in under an hour and the ClassLink leadership team attended and helped launch the new system during a district-wide professional development conference.
From the start, the ClassLink team was responsive and developed all the single sign-on links that were needed, with no extra cost.
The Outcome:
Within weeks nearly a quarter of the entire school system was using ClassLink on a daily basis. Today, both ClassLink and the Pickens Instructional Technology team, is actively creating resources to help all students and teachers enjoy OneClick access to all they’re apps.
Future Initiatives:
Open technology standards are important to Pickens. Adoption of the IMS Global OneRoster standard will enable automated and instant provisioning of digital learning resources for all students and teachers.
“ClassLink is the solution Pickens County was looking for. It’s easy for our IT department. It’s easy for teachers and our kids love it.
We couldn’t be more pleased.”
