Hale Ho'ike'ike at the Bailey House Videos
2015 Service Project at the Bailey House Museum
On a beautiful day at Hale Ho`ike`ike, known as the Bailey House, we candidly caught on video a group of girls singing church songs in their native language as they were washing the walls of our museum, once part of a larger group of buildings used as the Wailuku Female Seminary and now used as a museum to protect and display items from Maui's antiquity. You can even hear the boys singing their parts as they worked further out in the garden. These fine young men and women worked with true love and aloha to provide community service at the museum, all the while singing and smiling.
We are so grateful to the Mormon Church LDS and the participants of this year's Youth Conference, their leaders, and parents who came to provide service for the Maui Historical Society. They have now become active caretakers of Maui's museum, helping to further the Society's mission - to collect, preserve, study, interpret, and share the history and heritage of Maui. Special mahalo to Leka Anitema for reaching out to the museum and for organizing this event.
If your organization would like to provide community service, please contact the Maui Historical Society at (808) 244-3326 or write to us at info@mauimuseum.org. We have opportunities for every volunteer.
