6 Things to Do at Hampstead Heath, London | Summer in London | Love and London
Venture out from the centre of London and you'll see incredible green spaces like Hampstead Heath, located in North west London. It's a stunning park that makes you feel like you're out in the country, plus it has great free views of the London skyline, a beautiful house to visit called Kenwood House (featured in many films) and you can even go swimming.

Hampstead, London - History & Walking Tour day trip
Curious about Hampstead NW3, the borough of North London near where I live, I researched a little about the history of Hampstead and filmed this short walking tour of the area.
In this video I cover:
- A brief history of Hampstead from around 1698 to the present day, including facts about:
- Hampstead Well, spring water, baths and spa (Well Walk, Well Road, & Flask Walk)
- Burgh House (Dr William Gibbons' former home and also once the home of Rudyard Kipling's daughter Elsie Bambridge. Today it's the Hampstead Museum.
- Whitestone Pond (aka White Stone Pond or Horse pond, near Whitestone Walk)
- The Admiral's House on Admiral's Walk (inspiration to PL Travers' Mary Poppins story featuring the eccentric Admiral Boom)
- Poet, John Keats' connection to Hampstead including his home on Well Walk and later in Wentworth Place on Keats Grove, which is today the Keats House Museum and Branch Library.
- Painter and Artist John Constable's connection to Hampstead and his home at number 40 on Wells Walk
- A few other famous people throughout history who have lived in Hampstead
- A few more recent celebrities who have been said to have connections with Hampstead
- My favourite places in Hampstead including the crepes from Hampstead Creperie (La Crêperie de Hampstead), the shops, Hampstead Heath, the swimming ponds in the Heat, Parliament Hill and the cute side streets that are often decorated with pretty bunting.

Sights shown but not talked about include:
- Jack Straw's Castle
- The Fenton House area
- Hampstead tube train station
- Hampstead Heath High Street and its overground train station
- Winnington Road

Kenwood and Hampstead Heath - London Guided Walk
Kenwood and Hampstead Heath - London Guided Walk
Definitely one of the things to do in London if you want to visit untouristy places. The walk from Highgate to Hampstead is perfect for a pub walk or a leisurely stroll with beautiful views of St Pauls and the London skyline.
Kenwood House was owned by the Earl of Iveagh and the
Iveagh bequest act of 1929 preserved it as an example of a gentlemen’s home in the 18th century. Inside you can see Rembrandts, Vermeer and Gainsboroughs.
You might recognise the exterior which is where Julian Roberts and Hugh Grant filmed a scene from Notting Hill.
Nearby are sculptures by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.
Further along is the old dairy where you can experience cheese being made the old fashioned way on open days.
Then past Bishops Avenue, London's millionaire's row and on to The Spaniard Inn for a pint. Built in 1585 and on the Camden Boundary with Barnet, it was called The Spaniards after old owners Francesco and Juan Perrero. Juan died in a duel and still haunts the upstairs room. As does Dick Turpin the famous highway robber, whose dad owned the pub.
The toll house is a listed building and another ghost was that of a lady in white walking through the garden. She inspired Bram Stoker when writing Dracula.
Lucy lies in the tomb of her kin, a lordly death house in a lonely churchyard, away from teeming London, where the air is fresh, and the sun rises over Hampstead Hill, and where wild flowers grow of their own accord
Van Helsing and Seward also dine at Jack Straw’s Castle and take cab at Spaniards in the book.
Lucy is interred in family tombs near Hampstead Hill” and one of Lucy’s victims is found wandering at the edge of the heath.
Moving back onto Hampstead Heath from Spaniards Road you can see one of the the shooting locations for Scenes of a Sexual Nature starring Ewan McGregor.
Past the mixed bathing ponds and on to Southend Green where John Keats used to live in Keats Grove.
Then finish your walk at the Magldala Tavern, where Ruth Ellis shot her boyfriend and became the last woman to be hanged in Britain.

Hampstead Heath Park in London
Hampstead Heath (locally known as the Heath) is a large, ancient London park, covering 320 hectares (790 acres).[1] This grassy public space sits astride a sandy ridge, one of the highest points in London, running from Hampstead to Highgate, which rests on a band of London Clay.[2] The Heath is rambling and hilly, embracing ponds, recent and ancient woodlands, a lido, playgrounds, and a training track, and it adjoins the stately home of Kenwood House and its grounds. The south-east part of the Heath is Parliament Hill, from which the view over London is protected by law.
Running along its eastern perimeter are a chain of ponds – including three open-air public swimming pools – which were originally reservoirs for drinking water from the River Fleet. The Heath is a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation,[3] and part of Kenwood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Lakeside concerts are held there in summer. The Heath is managed by the City of London Corporation, and lies mostly within the London Borough of Camden with the adjoining Hampstead Heath Extension and Golders Hill Park in the London Borough of Barnet.

Hampstead Homes, London, UK
Earlier in the year I took a wander around Hampstead Heath. A fantastic part of London rich in an architectural tapestry of unusual and unique buildings and homes. Once home to the medicinal Chalybeate water, the area became a hotspot for London's wealthiest and houses many of London's millionnnaires. In this video I introduce the area and its architecture.
