Promotional Film for 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games
After Hangzhou receiving the flag from Jakarta at the closing ceremony of the 18th Asian Games on Sept 2, 2018, the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games Promotional Video was broadcast on the big screen. Within 3 minutes, from Liangzhu culture, the appealing Great Canal to the beautiful scenery of the West Lake, from entrepreneurial innovation to sports invitation, it reflects the unique charm of Hangzhou as a city of innovation and vitality, a capital of ecology and civilization.
Construction underway in Hangzhou on venues for 2022 Asian Games
China is gearing up to play host to 2 major international sporting events in the same year. Beijing is hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics. And in Hangzhou, preparations are underway for the Asian Games.
Future Hangzhou - Sports Park by Approach Design
Chinese architects Approach Design has added a new hall to the Hangzhou Cloud Town Exhibition Centre in China and concealed it under a green roof featuring a running track and sports courts.
After originally designing a large latticed structure for the first stage of the convention centre in 2015, demands for more space led to the architects developing a second, adjacent building.
Hangzhou practice Approach Design decided to take a different approach for the new hall, rather than simply build an extension to the original convention centre.
Just when everyone expected an even larger, iconic building, we designed it as a park, said the studio.
The new nine-metre-high exhibition hall is sunk three metres underground, minimising its profile in the landscape.
To enter the hall, visitors move down steps located under the park.
The park at the Hangzhou Cloud Town Exhibition Centre provides various facilities such as a football field, watchtower, sand pit, studio theatre and community vegetable garden, connected by a 760-metre running track, which protrudes slightly on an elevated walkway.
At one end, a freight ramp leading down to the centre has been used to create a faceted slope designed to encourage skateboarding.

Located 200 km to the south-west of Shanghai and famous for its West Lake, in 2009 the city of Hangzhou made a call for tenders with the aim being to create an emblematic and noteworthy building in tune with sustainable development values.
The sports training centre stretches out over 180 000 m² and includes sports pitches, a velodrome, hotel, sports clinic, media centre, shops and a car park, and has a direct link to a subway station.

The city of Hangzhou, a scenic and metropolitan capital in East China, will host the Asian Games in 2022. Hangzhou has become a modern and fast growing city, but has a rich history going back more than 2,200 years. It has important natural attractions such as West Lake UNESCO World Heritage Site, Xixi National Wetland Park and the Grand Canal. This dynamic city is projected to become a truly sustainable 21st Century city; beautiful, healthy, hospitable, culturally rich, eco-friendly and fully climate-proof. As part of this future vision, a new urban district is being developed on the south bank of the Qiantangjiang River. During the Asian Games, this area will accommodate athletes and officials and will serve as the most important area for public activities. After the games, it will function as a city district for residents to relax and enjoy a green environment and its cultural and public facilities.

UNStudio's Raffles City Hangzhou is an all-in-one destination featuring twisting glass towers
Dutch firm UNStudio has completed a mixed-use development in the Chinese city of Hangzhou that accommodates a hotel, offices, apartments and retail spaces in a pair of sinuous towers connected by a podium and landscaped plaza.
Raffles City Hangzhou was designed by UNStudio for real estate company CapitaLand and is described by the studio as a sustainable urban hub for living, working and leisure located in the city's Qianjiang New Town area.
The enormous development forms a prominent landmark in Hangzhou's new CBD, with a total area of almost 400,000 square metres spread across the two 250-metre towers, the podium building and the surrounding plaza.
The project is the largest single building completed by the firm headed by architect Ben van Berkel, which opened an office in nearby Shanghai in 2009 to oversee its design and construction.
