Hankyu is one of the largest department stores in Japan. The Hankyu Umeda in Osaka Station was constructed in 1929 and is the oldest in the world department store to be built in a train station.

Hankyu Umeda Station （阪急梅田駅） is located in the Umeda district of the northern part of the downtown Osaka City. Umeda area is serviced by both Hankyu Umeda Station and the JR Osaka Station. Both stations are located side by side and connected by multitude of above ground and under ground shopping, eating and drinking establishments.

The Hankyu food halls are in the two basement levels B1 and B2. On the B1 level you can find mouth-watering confectionery, bakeries, delicatessens, and bento lunch boxes. On the B2 level you can find the fresh food market, daily groceries and a very fine range of quality wines, spirits and beers. There is also a “World Craft Beer Bar” here with several micro-brews on tap.

■タイヤのチューブを使ったスタイリッシュなバッグカンボジアからお届けするバックパックは、タイヤのチューブをアップサイクルした製品です。生産しているのは、貧困など様々な理由で社会から取り残された子どもたちを支援している団体です。日本人のカバン職人のノウハウを加え背負ったときに体に沿うデザインにしたため、たくさんの荷物を入れても軽く感じます。タイヤチューブ バックパック ￥14,040 他

■ライフベストを使ったユニークなバッグオランダからお届けするバッグやラップトップケースは、ライフベストから作られた製品です。使われているライフベストは、移民や難民たちがヨーロッパへ向かう際に身に着けていたものです。新しい人生へ向かう旅の象徴となる救命胴衣で作られたアイテムを販売することで、学校や企業、団体とワークショップを開き、彼らの体験を知ってもらうきっかけとなっています。

Day 4: Osaka, Japan ✦Okonomiyaki✦Hankyu Umeda food hall✦Osaka Cheesecakes✦UFO catchers
Welcome to another day in Japan. Today we are in Osaka Japan, still have lots of places we wanted to explore in Osaka. We start off the day with the best Okonomiyaki I have tasted so far in Osaka. We went to Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street and was disappointed as the shops there were expensive. Next stop, we went to Umeda station and found the largest food hall I have seen. There are so many yummy foods there. We then went to the Namco arcade to play some UFO catchers. We ended the day with some yummy Cheesecakes from NOCOA cheesecake, and Rikuro-ojisan no mise cheesecake. Come join us on our Osaka adventures.
